Thirteen foals that ranged in age from 4 days to 4 months were presented for treatment of gastroduodenal obstruction. The site of obstruction was determined from examination of standing right lateral contrast radiographs of the caudal part of the thorax and abdomen. Depending on the site, the obstruction was bypassed by esophagogastrostomy, gastroduodenostomy, partial gastrectomy with gastroduodenostomy, duodenojejunostomy, or gastrojejunostomy followed by jejunojejunostomy. Six of the 13 foals (46%) survived. All foals with pyloric stenosis survived. Seven of eight foals with duodenal stenosis died. Deaths were due to complications unrelated to the primary gastroduodenal obstruction.  相似文献

Urethrotomy was performed on 12 normal male dogs at the base of the os penis. The surgical site was allowed to heal by second intention in six dogs, and suture closure of the urethral mucosa, tunica albuginea, and subcuticular tissue was performed in six dogs. All dogs were maintained for 60 days postoperatively. Packed cell volume and serum total protein were measured before surgery and at 2, 4, 7, 14, and 60 days postoperatively. Suture closure of the urethra resulted in less hemorrhage during the postoperative recovery period. Urethral mucosal irregularity was seen in urethrograms performed on all operated dogs 60 days postoperatively. Urethral stricture was not observed in any of the dogs in this study.  相似文献

Zygomatic (supraorbital) process fracture of the horse is a common injury; if untreated, permanent injury to the eye or an undesirable cosmetic appearance may result. A noninvasive surgical reduction technique is described that requires minimal instrumentation and can easily be performed in a surgical facility or under field conditions. This technique has resulted in successful reduction and healing in 12 of 13 cases of zygomatic process fractures.  相似文献

Fourteen horses with cecal impaction were treated by cecocolic anastomosis. In nine horses, the anastomosis followed enterotomy and evacuation of the cecal contents, and in two horses it followed saline infusion and massage of the cecum. In three horses, the anastomosis was the only surgical procedure performed. Cecocolic anastomosis was performed between the lateral and dorsal cecal teniae, and the lateral and medial free teniae of the right ventral colon. The anastomosis was hand sutured in five horses. In all other horses, the GIA surgical stapling instrument was used in combination with hand sutured seromuscular layer closures and became the preferred surgical technique. The anastomosis allowed an alternative route for the transit of ingesta from the cecum to the right ventral colon.
Twelve of the 14 horses survived 2 months or longer after surgery (short-term survival rate, 86%) and 10 horses survived 12 months or longer after surgery (long-term survival rate, 71%). Early postoperative complications included mild abdominal pain (6 horses), wound infections (3 horses), fatal peritonitis (2 horses), and large colon distention necessitating reoperation (2 horses).  相似文献

利用热脉冲技术对雷州半岛2种主要土壤类型下的4年生尾叶桉人工林林分耗水量进行了为期1 a的观测,并对林分耗水与林分生长特性、气象因子及4 m深土壤有效水关系进行研究.研究结果表明:尾叶桉人工林边材面积与胸径具有显著的相关性,利用边材面积进行单株向林分尺度耗水的转换可行;河头、纪家尾叶桉人工林日平均茎流密度分别为2 772、1 839 L·m-2·d-1;日平均耗水量分别为1.49、1.53 mm;河头与纪家尾叶桉人工林林分的年耗水量分别为542、559 mm,分别占年降水量的35%、36%;开阔的林冠及较小的叶面积指数、旱季时土壤有效水的减少及较低的饱和蒸汽压差等在不同程度上都限制了桉树的耗水量.  相似文献
