The pharmacokinetics of cefepime were studied following i.v. and i.m. administration of 20 mg/kg in 10 ewes. Following i.v. administration of a single dose, the plasma concentration-time curves of cefepime were best fitted using a two-compartment open model. The elimination half-life (t(1/2beta)) was 1.76 +/- 0.07 h, volume of distribution at steady-state [V(d(ss))] was 0.32 +/- 0.01 L/kg and total body clearance (Cl(B)) was 2.37 +/- 0.05 mL/min.kg. Following i.m. administration, the drug was rapidly absorbed with an absorption half-life (t(1/2ab)) of 0.49 +/- 0.05 h, maximum plasma concentration (Cmax) of 31.9 +/- 1.5 mug/mL was attained at (tmax) 1.1 +/- 0.2 h and the drug was eliminated with an elimination half-life (t(1/2el)) of 2.06 +/- 0.11 h. The systemic bioavailability (F) after i.m. administration of cefepime was 86.8 +/- 7.5%. The extent of plasma protein binding measured in vitro was 14.8 +/- 0.54%. The drug was detected in urine for 36 h postadministration by both routes.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

1. Two separate experiments were conducted to evaluate the efficacy of either prebiotic or synbiotic on growth performance, carcass yield, organ weights, and serum metabolic profile of broilers under hot climatic conditions.

2. In experiment 1, 150 1-d-old Ross 308 male broiler chickens were fed dietary synbiotic (Biomin® IMBO, 0, 1 or 1.5 g kg?1 of the starter diets and 0, 0.5 or 0.75 g kg?1 of the grower diets) for 6 weeks. In experiment 2, 150 1-d-old Ross 308 male broiler chickens were fed dietary prebiotic (Mannan oligosaccharide 0, 0.5 or 1 g kg?1 of the starter diets and 0, 0.25 or 0.5 g kg?1 of the grower diets) for 6 weeks. Each treatment had 10 replicates containing 5 broiler chickens each.

3. Supplementation of synbiotic at 1 or 1.5 g kg?1 feed to broiler diets during 1–21 d and 0.5 or 0.75 g kg?1 feed, respectively, during 22–42 d improved (P < 0.01) body weight gain, feed conversion ratio (FCR), and decreased (P < 0.01) abdominal fat, serum total cholesterol, and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels in experiment 1.

4. Similarly, supplementation of the prebiotic at 0.5 or 1 g kg?1 in broiler diets during 1–21 d and 0.25 or 0.50 g kg?1 feed, respectively, during 22–42 d improved (P < 0.01) body weight gain, FCR, and decreased (P < 0.01) abdominal fat, serum cholesterol, and LDL-cholesterol levels in experiment 2.  相似文献

Effect of nematicidal potential ofZinnia elegans Jacq (1, 2, 3 & 4 plants per pot) as a mix-crop along with tomato againstMeloidogyne incognita andRotylenchulus reniformis was studied under a greenhouse conditions. The nematode final population of both nematodes and their rate of build up as well as the root gall index were significantly affected by the number of zinnia plants when grown with tomato together. There was a negative correlation between the number of zinnia seedlings and the final population of both nematodes. The lowest nematode final population and rate of build up were determined at the highest number of zinnia plants (4 plants per pot). The highest number of root gall index was found on roots of tomato grown alone (4), while, the lowest one was found on roots of tomato (0.7) grown with four plants of zinnia. This type of control is considered inexpensive and pollution-free.
Zusammenfassung Zur Wirkung vonZinnia-Pflanzen in Mischung mit Tomate gegen die NematodenMeloidogyne incognita undRotylenchulus reniformis.Bei Zugabe von 1, 2, 3 oder 4 Pflanzen vonZinnia elegans pro Topf zu Tomate unter Gewächshausbedingungen wurden die Enddichte der Wurzel-NematodenMeloidogyne incognita undRotylenchulus reniformis sowie die Reproduktionsrate und der Wurzelgallenindex signifikant beeinflußt, und zwar mit steigender Zahl an Zinnia-Pflanzen vermindert. Der höchste Wurzelgallen-Index (4,0) wurde bei allein wachsender Tomate pro Topf festgestellt, der niedrigste Index (0,7) bei Anwesenheit von 4 Zinnien. Diese Form der Wurzelnematodenbekämpfung ist billig und frei von Umweltbelastungen.

Fragrance in rice is an appealing attribute to consumers. The increasing demand for fragrant rice highlights the need to develop fragrant rice variety that suit the preference of local consumers in addition to reduce fragrant rice imports. Marker-assisted backcrossing (MABC) was employed to develop advanced fragrant rice lines from the cross between MR269 and Basmati 370. MR269 is a Malaysian high-yielding rice variety but non-fragrant and was used as recurrent parent whereas Basmati 370 is a well-known fragrant traditional rice variety and was used as donor parent for the fragrance gene. Two generations of backcrosses and a generation of selfing were conducted to introgress the fragrance gene and restore the recurrent parent genome in the backcross progenies. As a result, 14 advanced fragrant rice lines were developed. These advanced fragrant rice lines carried homozygous alleles for the fragrance gene, similar to Basmati 370. The average recovery of recurrent parent genome was 88.4%. Besides being fragrant, the advanced fragrant rice lines also had most of the morphological and agronomical traits similar to MR269. Grain quality of the advanced fragrant rice lines in terms of gelatinization temperature, amylose content and gel consistency are also similar to both parents. Besides, the advanced fragrant rice lines had 2-acetyl-1-pyrroline content similar to Basmati 370. MABC approach applied in this study has successfully introgressed the fragrance gene and accelerated the recovery of recurrent parent genome in advanced fragrant rice lines, therefore these lines can be delivered to the farmers and consumers for use in due time.  相似文献

Copper is one of the major heavy metal pollutants found in the aquatic environment. Therefore, it is important for determining the genes that play a key role in copper metabolism in aquatic organisms. This study, thus, aimed to identify a new copper-inducible gene in swordtail fish, Xiphophorus helleri. Using ACP-based RT-PCR coupled with RLM-RACE, we cloned Wap65, a mammalian homologue of hemopexin gene. The gene exhibits high identity at amino acid levels with the Wap65 gene of other fish species (42–68%) and mammalian hemopexin gene (35–37%). In addition, ten cysteine and two histidine residues are conserved in the swordtail fish Wap65 gene. These cysteine residues are vital for structural integrity, and histidine residues provide high binding affinity towards heme. As revealed by RT-PCR, the gene was upregulated in swordtail fish that were exposed to copper in a dose- and time-dependent manner. Therefore, the identification of Wap65, a mammalian homologue of hemopexin, as a new copper-inducible gene will provide greater insight into the role of this gene in copper metabolism.  相似文献

This study analyzed soybean seeds from 116 cultivars for total, insoluble, and soluble oxalate (Ox), phytate (InsP6), calcium (Ca), and magnesium (Mg) because of their potential beneficial or harmful effects on human nutrition. These cultivars were divided into four groups (A-D) on the basis of the year and geographic location where they were grown. Oxalate concentration ranged from about 82 to 285 mg/100 g of dry seed. The InsP6 concentration ranged from 0.22 to 2.22 g/100 g of dry seed. There was no correlation between Ox and InsP6 within or among the four groups of cultivars. There was a significant correlation between total Ox and Ca, but not Mg, in group D cultivars (r = 0.3705; p < 0.0005). No significant relationship was found in the group A-C cultivars. Eleven group D cultivars had InsP6 less than 500 mg/100 g, but all had total Ox of 130 mg/100 g or greater. Five cultivars from groups A-C had relatively low InsP6 (group B; < or =1.01 g/100 g) and low Ox (<140 mg/100 g). These cultivars could be useful for producing soy foods beneficial to populations at risk for kidney stones and for improved mineral bioavailability. The Ox and InsP6 concentrations of the cultivars indicate that choosing specific parents could generate seeds in succeeding generations with desirable Ox and InsP6 concentrations.  相似文献

Background

Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) is the most serious virus disease affecting chilli (Capsicum annuum L.) worldwide and the absence of natural resistance makes management of CMV outbreaks difficult. The characterization of improved sources of resistance to CMV in chilli would facilitate the development of commercially acceptable chilli varieties with adequate levels of CMV resistance. A total of 30 chilli genotypes were evaluated for their reaction to CMV in field and artificial inoculated conditions during 2010-2011 and 2011-2012. Large differences were observed among genotypes for disease incidence, severity indexes, and yield losses. Based on observed data, genotype CA23 (Noakhali) was identified as resistant, while CA12 (Comilla-2) was categorized as moderately resistant to CMV both in natural and inoculated conditions. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay absorbance values of samples taken from CMV-infected leaves corresponded well with visible viral symptoms for these genotypes. The identified C. annuum CA23 and CA12 genotypes represent previously undescribed and potentially useful sources of CMV resistance.

Background:Increasing evidence suggests that bisphenol A (BPA) induces liver pathological changes. Further, an association between BPA and circulating vitamin D (VitD) levels were documented.Aim:The role of VitD in BPA-induced liver pathological changes was explored in this study.Methods:Healthy 4.5-week-old male (n = 35) and female (n = 35) Swiss albino mice were used in this study. The animals were randomly divided into control and treated groups. The control groups were further divided into sham (no treatment) and vehicle (corn oil), whereas the treated groups were also divided into VitD (2195 U/kg), BPA (50 μg/kg), and BPA + VitD (50 μg/kg + 2195 U/kg) groups. For 6 weeks (twice a week), the animals were dosed intraperitoneally. One week later (at 10.5-weeks-old), the animals were sacrificed for biochemical and histological analyses.Results:BPA produced a considerable rise in the body and liver weights in both genders of mice when compared to control mice. BPA also caused significant increases in the liver damage markers alanine transaminase (ALT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), and gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT). It also induced liver histopathological changes, including higher apoptotic indices in both genders. On the other hand, treatment with VitD considerably reduced liver damage and slightly decreased the apoptotic index rate. The ALP, ALT, and GGT levels were also markedly reduced. VitD has been proven to have a protective effect on both genders.Conclusions:According to our findings, VitD protects mice from BPA-induced liver damage, possibly via suppressing liver damage markers.  相似文献
