This work is an evaluation of the quality of three introduced European olive cultivars Arbequina, Coratina, and Koroneiki grown under a biological agricultural system in the arid zone of Sfax in Tunisia compared to Chemlali cultivars. Various olive parameters were analyzed, such as ripening index, pulp/stone (P/S) ratio and oil content. We have considered the regulated physicochemical analytical parameters, fatty acids and minor compounds for olive oil. The most of the quality indices and fatty acid composition showed significant variations among olive cultivars. The Koroneiki, Coratina and Chemlali Zarzis cultivars had highest values of oleic acid (62.7%) (76.8%, 75.8% and 73.9%, respectively), Arbequina, had lowest value of oleic acid and similar to Chemlali Sfax. Coratina was noteworthy for its higher content of phenolic compounds (287.8 mg kg−1), oil content (42.4%) and P/S ratio (4.7%). Although their low phenol contents, autochthonous cultivars presented high contents of α-tocopherol (577.8 and 434.6 mg kg−1 for Chemlali Boughrara and Chemlali Zarzis, respectively) except for Chemlali Sfax. In conclusion, European cultivars seem to have adapted to the area studied according to their oil biochemical composition while the increase observed in their α-tocopherol levels. The cultivar Arbequina showed a similar composition of Chemlali Sfax.  相似文献

Recent publications indicate that single‐step models are suitable to estimate breeding values, dominance deviations and total genetic values with acceptable quality. Additive single‐step methods implicitly extend known number of allele information from genotyped to non‐genotyped animals. This theory is well derived in an additive setting. It was recently shown, at least empirically, that this basic strategy can be extended to dominance with reasonable prediction quality. Our study addressed two additional issues. It illustrated the theoretical basis for extension and validated genomic predictions to dominance based on single‐step genomic best linear unbiased prediction theory. This development was then extended to include inbreeding into dominance relationships, which is a currently not yet solved issue. Different parametrizations of dominance relationship matrices were proposed. Five dominance single‐step inverse matrices were tested and described as C1 , C2 , C3 , C4 and C5 . Genotypes were simulated for a real pig population (n = 11,943 animals). In order to avoid any confounding issues with additive effects, pseudo‐records including only dominance deviations and residuals were simulated. SNP effects of heterozygous genotypes were summed up to generate true dominance deviations. We added random noise to those values and used them as phenotypes. Accuracy was defined as correlation between true and predicted dominance deviations. We conducted five replicates and estimated accuracies in three sets: between all ( S1 ), non‐genotyped ( S2 ) and inbred non‐genotyped ( S3 ) animals. Potential bias was assessed by regressing true dominance deviations on predicted values. Matrices accounting for inbreeding ( C3 , C4 and C5 ) best fit. Accuracies were on average 0.77, 0.40 and 0.46 in S1 , S2 and S3 , respectively. In addition, C3 , C4 and C5 scenarios have shown better accuracies than C1 and C2 , and dominance deviations were less biased. Better matrix compatibility (accuracy and bias) was observed by re‐scaling diagonal elements to 1 minus the inbreeding coefficient ( C5 ).  相似文献

Limited scientific information is currently available regarding saproxylic fungal communities in the boreal forest of North America. We aimed to characterize the community development, richness and activity of saproxylic fungi on fresh wood in harvested and unmanaged boreal mixedwood stands of northwestern Québec (Canada). Fresh wood blocks (n = 480) of balsam fir (Abies balsamea (L.) Mill.) and trembling aspen (Populus tremuloides Michx.) were placed on the forest floor in a range of stand conditions (n = 24). Blocks were harvested every 6 months for up to 30 months and characterized for species composition and richness (PCR–DGGE, DNA sequencing), respiration, wood density and lignin and cellulose content. Colonization by a wide range of functional groups proceeded rapidly under different stand conditions. We detected a total of 35 different fungal operational taxonomic units, with the highest species richness at the wood block level being observed within the first 12 months. No differences in community composition were found between wood host species or among stand conditions. However, the variability in fungal communities among blocks (β diversity) was lower on trembling aspen wood compared with balsam fir and decreased over time on trembling aspen wood. Also, fungal activity (respiration and wood decomposition) increased on trembling aspen wood blocks and species richness decreased on balsam fir wood over time in partial-cut sites. The overlap in tree composition among stands, the high volume of logs and the recent management history of these stands may have contributed to the similarity of the saproxylic fungal community among stand types and disturbances.  相似文献

First-lactation test-day (TD) milk records of Luxembourg and Tunisian Holsteins were analysed for evidence of genotype by environment interaction (G × E). The joint data included 730 810 TD records of 87 734 cows and 231 common sires. Random regression TD sire models with fourth-order Legendre polynomials were used to estimate genetic parameters via within- and across-country analyses. Daily heritability estimates of milk yield from within-country analysis were between 0.11 and 0.32, and 0.03 and 0.13 in Luxembourg and Tunisia, respectively. Heritability estimates for 305-day milk yield and persistency (defined as the breeding value for milk yield on DIM 280 minus the breeding value on DIM 80) were lower for Tunisian Holsteins compared with the Luxembourg population. Specifically, heritability for 305-day milk yield was 0.16 for within- and 0.11 for across-country analyses for Tunisian Holsteins and 0.38 for within- and 0.40 for across-country analyses for Luxembourg Holsteins. Heritability for apparent persistency was 0.02 for both within- and across-country analyses for Tunisian Holsteins and 0.08 for within- and 0.09 for across-country analyses for Luxembourg Holsteins. Genetic correlations between the two countries were 0.50 for 305-day milk yield and 0.43 for apparent persistency. Moreover, rank correlations between the estimated breeding values of common sires for 305-day milk yield and persistency, estimated separately in each country, were low. Low genetic correlations are evidence for G × E for milk yield production while low rank correlations suggest different rankings of sires in both environments. Results from this study indicate that milk production of daughters of the same sires depends greatly on the production environment and that importing high merit semen for limited input systems might not be an effective strategy to improve milk production.  相似文献

The protective effect of the lyophilised SAG2 oral vaccine bait DBL2, already demonstrated on laboratory dogs, needed to be verified on common Tunisian dogs. Seven Tunisian dogs consumed totally or partially one DBL2 bait containing 10(8.3) TCID50 of the highly attenuated rabies vaccine strain, SAG2. Five of the seven vaccinated animals survived a challenge administered 33 days later with a Tunisian canine street rabies virus to which five of the six controls that were not vaccinated and had no specific antibodies succumbed. The partial or total consumption of a single DBL2 bait thus conferred a protective immune response similar to that observed in laboratory dogs to dogs of poor health status. The sero-antibody response was, however, weak: only two vaccinated dogs exhibited a significant neutralising antibody response after vaccination and before the challenge, and four after the challenge.  相似文献

The double-stranded (ds) RNA genome segment 4 of bluetongue virus (BTV) serotype 2 was cloned and used as a serogroup-specific complementary (c) DNA probe for BTV diagnosis. A cDNA representing a 60% copy of genome segment 4 BTV-2 prototype was produced. The specificity of the cDNA probe was determined by hybridizing this probe to a northern blot of dsRNA (separated by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis) of plaque-purified BTV-2 prototype. This cDNA probe was then used to hybridize to the RNA samples. Because the probe hybridized to all BTV samples but not to epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus samples, it appears to be a group-specific probe that could be used in BTV diagnosis.  相似文献

Olive mill wastewater (OMW) constitutes a major environmental problem for Mediterranean countries, where most of the world olive oil production takes place. The recycling of the OMW and its use as water for irrigation in agriculture, provided that its impact on soil and plant is established, is an attractive possibility for the Mediterranean countries. Investigations were performed on the influence of agronomic application of OMW (amount applied: 30, 60, 100 and 150 m3 ha?1) in a field of olive trees on trees characters (photosynthesis, root-soluble carbohydrate and root colonisation), soil properties, and soil microbial community structure. Specific attention was paid to arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi. The soil fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) 16:1ω5 was used to quantify biomass of AM fungi and the root FAME 16:1ω5 analysis was used as index for the development of colonisation in the olive trees roots. A significant increase in organic C, C/N ratio, extractable phosphorus and exchangeable potassium was found after one year of agronomic application of OMW. The development of saprophytic fungi was significantly higher in the OMW amended soils, whereas the abundance of the soil FAME 16:1ω5, root FAME 16:1ω5, photosynthetic rates and the amount of the total root-soluble carbohydrate were decreased significantly after agronomic application of OMW. A principal component analysis (PCA) of the trees characteristics profiles showed discrimination between the nonirrigated and the OMW irrigated olive trees. These findings suggest that the altering functioning of arbuscular mycorrhizas should be considered as potential factors mediating olive trees responses to agronomic application of OMW when the OMW dose applied is higher than 30 m3 ha?1. To our knowledge, this is the first report of alterations in the soil FAME 16:1ω5 and root FAME 16:1ω5 due to land spreading of OMW.  相似文献

Roads and traffic can be a source of water-bound pollutants, which can percolate through the unsaturated zone to groundwater. Deicing salt is widely used on roads in northern Europe during winter and is usually applied at a time when the temperature is below zero and the soil is partly frozen. Understanding the mechanism by which water-bound pollutants such as deicing salt are transferred from roads to groundwater is highly important for groundwater protection, environmental sustainability and road maintenance. Electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) can be used for tracing the infiltration of deicing salt in different seasons, including the frozen period, as a step towards identifying pollutant infiltration pathways. In this study, a tracer-ERT monitoring method and analytical process was developed and evaluated for use in investigating and demonstrating deicing salt infiltration pathways in road structures in different seasons and weather conditions. The method involves using dissolved sodium chloride as a tracer and monitoring its infiltration using a multi-electrode array system. The tracer tests were performed at the same location in different seasons over a 1-year period. The results indicated high seasonal variation in percolation pattern and flow velocity, with large decreases in December (winter), most likely due to preferential flow paths within the road shoulder. These findings can be applied to other water-soluble pollutants that move from the road surface to groundwater.  相似文献

Studies were carried out to assess the extraction yield of carotenoids from the African boxthorn (Lycium ferocissimum Miers, Solanaceae) fruits with different solvents and solvent mixtures, to optimize the extraction conditions for maximum recovery and to improve the extraction efficiency. Among other solvents, a mixture of hexane and acetone gave the highest carotenoid extraction. Extraction conditions, such as hexane percentage in hexane/acetone solvent mixture, solvent-solid ratio, and extraction time were optimized using a statistically designed experiment. A regression equation for predicting the carotenoid yield as a function of three extraction variables was derived by statistical analysis. The optimized conditions for maximum carotenoids yield were 45 % hexane in solvent mixture, solvent-solid ratio of 70 (ml/g) and extraction time 70 min. The dyeability of cotton with carotenoids extract has also been studied. Unmordant and postmordanted bleached cotton fabric with alum and ferrous sulphatewas dyed. Color measurements and fastness properties as light, rubbing and wash were tested.  相似文献
