Identification of a blue photoluminescent composite material from a combinatorial library

A quaternary combinatorial masking strategy was used in conjunction with photolithography to generate compositionally diverse thin-film phosphor libraries containing 1024 different compositions on substrates 2.5 centimeters square. A parallel imaging system and scanning spectrophotometer were used to identify and characterize compositions in the library with interesting luminescent behavior. Optimal compositions were identified with the use of gradient libraries, in which the stoichiometry of a material was varied continuously. This process led to the identification of an efficient blue photoluminescent composite material, Gd3Ga5O12/SiO2. Experimental evidence suggests that luminescence in this material may arise from interfacial effects between SiO2 and Gd3Ga5O12.

确定了云南省保山地区松茸的分类地位,系与松茸同属不同种的Ｔｒｉｃｈｏｌｏｍａ ｂａｋａ－ｍａｔ－ｓｕｔａｋｅ,俗称假松茸或青冈松茸;研究了它的周年发生规律及产量分布状况。７月中旬为松茸始发期,８月下旬为子实体发生的高峰,１０月下旬基本结束;以８月上旬至９月上旬为主产期,其产量占全年产量的６９．９％。此外还探讨了假松茸发生的生态条件,以及松茸可持续发展研究的初步结果。     

Indexing of Citrus Viroids by Imprint Hybridisation

A method based on the hybridisation of tissue imprints was developed for routine indexing of citrus viroids. For maximum sensitivity and reliability, the inoculation of Citrus medica (Etrog citron) as a viroid amplification host is required. Hybridisation against Digoxigenin-labelled RNA- or DNA-probes followed by detection of viroid-probe hybrids using anti-DIG-alkaline phosphate conjugate and the chemiluminescence substrate CSPD was suitable for the detection of all citrus viroids with the same sensitivity as other available methods. The overall process is extremely simple and allows quick analysis of large numbers of samples by easily trained personnel and minimum equipment.     

Can agricultural management emulate natural ecosystems in recharge control in south eastern Australia?

Water balance information at locations across southern Australia is analysed to identify mechanistic causes for higher water tables under agricultural systems compared to natural vegetation. Contrasting patterns of water use indicate pronounced physiological activity in summer by natural ecosystems ensuring the persistence of the dominant perennial species. A strategy of tempered water use during periods of rainfall excess in winter/spring enables seasonal carryover of soil water to be withdrawn by deep roots for summer functioning. Characteristic patterns of water use by agricultural systems, comprised mainly of determinant annual species, are truncated in time but feature elevated peak rates coinciding with periods of maximum soil water availability during the cooler months. Low seasonal vapour pressure deficit explains the observed benefits of enhanced biomass production due to high water use efficiency. The associated limited scope for soil water uptake carries the penalty of increased frequency of drainage and the subsequent resource degradation currently associated with farmland. Inclusion of a perennial lucerne phase in rotation with crops confers environmental benefit through summer uptake from a rooting depth double that of crops. An effective buffer is thus provided to restrict drainage under an ensuing cropping phase in a manner that more closely emulates natural systems. Simulations of phase farming point to a halving in long term drainage. They suggest adoption over a range of arable land units could cause local retreat of water tables by 0.3 m y⁻¹ initially, leading to a new equilibrium level which would still remain elevated with respect to that under natural vegetation. 混合接种Glomus与Pisolithus菌株对尾叶桉矿质营养吸收的影响

对混合接种ＶＡ菌根真菌苏格兰球菌霉和ＥＣＭ真菌彩色豆马勃影响尾叶桉苗期矿质营养元素吸收情况进行了研究。接种苗根真菌对苗木吸收Ｎ、Ｐ、Ｋ和Ｂ产季了较大的影响,主要体现在促进苗木对上述营养元素的吸收和积累。     

小径木三角形剖分法及其剖分材干燥工艺

对东北林区生长的具有代表性的针、阔叶树种如落叶松、柞术小径木的制材方式及干燥工艺进行了研究。研究分析得出,采用三角形剖分法,结合高温、高湿、汽蒸干燥新工艺,可有效解决小径木在干燥中容易出现的问题。     

Effect of dietary lipid-lowering drugs upon plasma lipids and egg yolk cholesterol levels of laying hens.

To evaluate the effect of lipid-lowering agents upon egg quality, reproductive performance, plasma lipids, and egg yolk cholesterol levels, 30-week-old Shaver laying hens were fed a basal diet (commercial ration) supplemented with 0.1% probucol (PROB), 0.025% gemfibrozil (GEMF), or lovastatin at 0.0005% (LOV1), 0.001% (LOV2), or 0.0015% (LOV3) for a 12-week experimental period. It was observed that the supplementation of the drugs did not impair albumen and shell quality. Hen performance was not adversely affected. The depression in triglyceride concentrations approached statistical significance only in LOV2 (38.5%), and total cholesterol was significantly depressed in LOV2 (36.0%), LOV3 (36.8%), PROB (29.6%), and GEMF (30.4%) treatments. Egg cholesterol content, expressed per gram of yolk, was significant lowered in LOV1 (7.5%) and LOV3 (12. 7%).
