Differential effect of cultivar and harvest date on nectarine colour,quality and consumer acceptance 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The influence of nectarine cultivar and the harvest date on fruit colour, fruit size, fruit quality parameters, and consumer acceptance were assessed. The analyses were carried on cultivars with different fruit taste (acidity and sweetness), from 5-years-old trees at the IRTA-Experimental Station of Lleida (Spain). The six cultivars were grouped in three pairs in which each had a similar commercial harvest date. Each pair comprised by a non-acid cultivar and an acid cultivar, except the pair of ‘Big Top®’ and ‘Mesembrine®’, which included two non-acid cultivars. The nectarines were harvested at 8 days intervals on five harvest dates, three of which were before the commercial harvest date, one at commercial harvest and another 1 week after commercial harvest. 相似文献

A five-year experiment (2002–2006) was conducted to determine apple (cv ‘Golden Smoothee’) and pear (cv ‘Conference’) crop
coefficients (Kc) using two large weighing lysimeters. Daily reference evapotranspiration (ETo) and crop evapotranspiration
(ETc) were evaluated. Midday canopy light interception of both crops planted in hedgerows, 4 × 1.6 m, was determined on a
weekly basis from bud-break until leaf fall from year 2002 (fourth after planting) to year 2006 of both plantations. Relationships
between canopy light interception and calculated Kc (ETc/ETo) were evaluated from bud-break until harvest. There were differences
in Kc values between apple and pear trees. When daily Kc values from bud-break until harvest were adjusted to hyperbolic functions
each year, adjusted curves for pear trees were very similar regardless of year (maximum Kc around 1.0). In apple trees, the
maximum values of Kc increased over time, from 0.49 in 2002 to 1.04 in 2006. Midday light interception in both apple and pear
trees increased during the 5 years of experiment from 29.0 to 45.6% in apples and from 27.5 to 41.6% in pears in midsummer.
Although there was a significant positive correlation between midday canopy light interception and Kc in apple and pear trees,
in different times within a specific year, these relationships were different between crops. While the apple data fitted into
the same equation regardless of the year, different equations were needed to fit the pear data in different years. This discrepancy
may have been related to differences in the canopy properties between apple and pear trees. Pear canopies had higher porosity
than apple canopies and thus improved light penetration. Apple trees were more vigorous and produced taller and denser canopies.
Pear Kc values were greatly influenced by the evaporative demands of different years and consequently differences in midday
canopy light interception did not adequately reflect the differences in Kc across the two species. 相似文献

Random S5 inbreds derived from three F2 maize (Zea mays L.) populations (L1934 × LP918, LP915 × LP2541 and L7310 × L7266) were selected for ear rot resistance after inoculation with a low-fumonisin producing isolate belonging to F. proliferatum. The four less susceptible and the four most susceptible inbreds from each population were crossed and F1 seeds were pooled. Resistant and susceptible pools from each population were evaluated for disease severity (percentage of the ear visibly diseased) after inoculation with the isolate used for selection, and high toxigenic isolates belonging to F. verticillioides and F. graminearum. Grain mycotoxin concentration was assessed by ELISA. Differences in disease resistance to each fungus were observed between resistant and susceptible pools in most populations and environments indicating that selection after inoculation with a single species might be effective to develop broad-based resistance to Fusarium. Resistant pools exhibited, after inoculation with F. verticillioides, low grain fumonisin concentrations in most populations and years. Positive genotypic correlations between disease severity and fumonisin concentration (0.89 < rg < 0.98, depending on fungal species and year) indicate that selection for disease severity accounted for most of the variability for field fumonisin accumulation. Selection seemed to be also effective to reduce grain deoxynivalenol and zearalenone concentrations after inoculation with F. graminearum. Ratios between grain deoxynivalenol concentration and disease severity were lower in L7310 × L7266 than those observed in the other populations suggesting that mechanisms affecting mycotoxin accumulation might exist in this population and additional responses should be feasible if including deoxynivalenol concentration as another selection parameter. 相似文献

A low tree stand density has been showed as necessary to thrive with summer drought in semiarid Mediterranean open woodlands. Shrub encroachment of these open woodlands is currently recommended to guarantee the persistence of the system, due to the nursery effect of shrubs on tree seedling. However, the increase in abundance and cover of a shrub understory in these water limited woodlands could bring consequences to tree overstory functioning. The present study analyzes the physiological status of scattered Quercus ilex L. trees in paired adjacent plots with and without the presence of a shrubby understory in CW Spain. Two contrasting shrub strategies were addressed in order to take into account possible species-specific effects: a dense-shallow rooting shrub (Cistus landanifer L.) and a sparse-deep rooting shrub (Retama sphaerocarpa (L.) Boiss). Leaf water potential (at predawn and midday), leaf gas exchange parameters (net photosynthetic rate and stomatal conductance), leaf nitrogen content and chlorophyll fluorescence transients (maximum photochemical efficiency and performance index, sensuStrasser et al., 2004) were measured during three consecutive summers. Trees growing with Cistus as understory showed significant lower leaf water potential, leaf gas exchange parameters, leaf nitrogen content and chlorophyll photochemical efficiency than trees growing without shrub competence. However, the presence of the legume Retama did not affect significantly the physiological state of Q. ilex. Thus, we conclude that the presence of a shrubby understory has the potential to modify the functioning of scattered trees, but these effects are species-specific. 相似文献

The Iberian forests are suffering severe disease and mortality as a result of decline, with Quercus ilex the major species at risk. Trunk injections with potassium phosphonate, which have been used successfully to control Phytophthora cinnamomi, were tested against decline. In an area in which P. cinnamomi was isolated, Q. ilex trees showing different degrees of decline were trunk-injected. Soil properties, and measurements of soil water content (θ)
and depth to soil water table were assessed at three sites with markedly different decline incidences. Over the 5 years following
the initiation of the experiment, mean symptoms among spring-treated trees and autumn-treated trees, or among trees injected
twice a year (spring and autumn), once a year, and non-injected, were not significantly different. No effects of the treatments
on shoot growth and acorn production were observed. However, θ values under trees which recovered from decline were higher
than θ values under trees which did not recover from decline. At the site with the highest incidence of decline and tree mortality,
P. cinnamomi was rarely isolated, and the presence of gravel, soil infiltration capacities and water table depth values were significantly
higher than at the other sites, water stress being more likely to contribute to decline than P. cinnamomi. In areas in which θ is low, the distribution of phosphonate on the tree would be limited. Since the thresholds for phytotoxicity
of potassium phosphonate in Q. ilex trees at the site studied would be higher than the amounts used, rates of the chemical slightly less than those that cause

The soybean cyst nematode (SCN) is one of the most economically important pathogens of soybean. Molecular mapping of quantitative trait loci (QTL) for resistance to SCN is a proven useful strategy in order to assist in the development of resistant soybean cultivars. In the present study, a Bayesian modeling approach was performed to map QTL controlling genetic resistance to SCN races 3 and 14. For this purpose, a population of recombinant inbred lines derived from the cross between line Y23 (susceptible) and cv. Hartwig (resistant) was used. A total of 144 microsatellites markers (Simple Sequence Repeats) were selected and synthesized for mapping purpose. Posterior marginal parameter distributions were computed using the Reversible Jump Markov Chain Monte Carlo (RJ-MCMC) algorithm. It was determined the existence of four QTLs on three linkage groups (LG); that is LG A2 for race 3, LG C2 for race 14, and LG G for both races. The estimates of posterior modes of the heritability were 0.038 and 0.53 for the LGs A2 and G respectively (race 3). For the race 14 the posterior modes of the heritability were 0.044 and 0.05 for the LGs C2 and G. The identified QTLs explained about 57 and 9 % of the total phenotypic variance, for the races 3 and 14, respectively. These results confirm the effectiveness of the Bayesian method to map QTL controlling resistance to SCN in soybean. Accordingly, integrating QTL mapping with Bayesian methods will enable response to selection for quantitative traits of interest in soybean to be improved. 相似文献

A one‐year‐old intact male German shepherd dog was referred with a 3‐month history of dysuria and pollakiuria. Physical examination revealed a large firm mass in the caudal abdomen. Findings from survey radiography, negative contrast cystography, computed tomographic (CT) retrograde positive contrast cystography, and CT excretory urography were consistent with a large urinary bladder diverticulum. An exploratory laparotomy revealed a normal wall appearance in the ventral compartment (true bladder) and marked thinning of the wall in the dorsal compartment (diverticulum). Both ureters inserted into the ventral compartment. The dorsal compartment was excised and histopathology confirmed the diagnosis of urinary bladder diverticulum. 相似文献

The color degradation of aqueous solutions of six natural red pigment extracts (elderberry, red cabbage, hibiscus, red beet, Opuntia fruits and red cochineal) used commercially as food colorants was investigated at temperatures between 50 and 90 °C. Color degradation was studied in respect to both spectral properties and visual color. The remaining absorbance at 535 nm as a function of the incubation time and temperature was used to quantify the degradation process. Red cochineal was the most thermoresistant extract with a remaining absorbance of 95 % after 6 h at 90 °C. Anthocyanin extracts (elderberry, red cabbage, hibiscus) showed remaining absorbance percentages of 63.8, 46.1 and 26.7, respectively. Betacyanin extracts (red beet, Opuntia fruits) were the most thermosensitive maintaining only 12.5 and 1.7 %, respectively, of the initial absorbance at 535 nm. Applying a first-order kinetic model to the degradation processes, reaction rate constants (k) and half-life periods (t 1/2 ) were calculated. The temperature dependence of the degradation rate constant obeyed the Arrhenius relationship, with activation energies (E a ) ranging between 3.02 and 53.37 kJ?mol?1. The higher activation energy values indicated greater temperature sensitivity. Changes in visual color attributes corroborated the high thermal stability of the red cochineal extract. 相似文献
