The effects of different growth regimes on gluconasturtiin concentration in watercress (Nasturtium officinale R. Br.) were investigated. Watercress plantlets at the 5th mature leaf stage (ca. 2 weeks old) were exposed to different day and night temperatures, to long (16 h) or short (8 h) days, to red (R) or far-red (FR) light given during the main long day photoperiod, and finally to R or FR light given at the end of the main photoperiod. Watercress plants grown under long days contained a 30-40% higher gluconasturtiin concentration and had a higher fresh weight than watercress plants grown under short days. Watercress plants grown under long days and temperatures of 15 or 10 degrees C had at least a 50% higher gluconasturtiin concentration, but a lower fresh weight, than that of plants grown at 20 or 25 degrees C. Watercress plants grown under metal halide light enriched with R light had approximately a 25-40% higher concentration of gluconasturtiin as compared to the FR-enriched plants. Likewise, a brief R light exposure at the end of the main photoperiod resulted in approximately a 25% or higher concentration of gluconasturtiin as compared to a FR end-of-day exposure. These data indicate that the concentration of gluconasturtiin in watercress can be significantly increased by growing plants at lower temperatures, under long days, and by exposure to R light.  相似文献

Near-infrared (NIR) transflectance spectra of Listeria innocua FH, Lactococcus lactis, Pseudomonas fluorescens, Pseudomonas mendocina, and Pseudomonas putida suspensions were collected and investigated for their potential use in the identification and classification of bacteria. Unmodified spectral data were transformed (first and second derivative) using the Savitzsky-Golay algorithm. Principal component analysis (PCA), partial least-squares discriminant analysis (PLS2-DA), and soft independent modeling of class analogy (SIMCA) were used in the analysis. Using either full cross-validation or separate calibration and prediction data sets, PLS2 regression classified the five bacterial suspensions with 100% accuracy at species level. At Pseudomonas genus level, PLS2 regression classified the three Pseudomonas species with 100% accuracy. In the case of SIMCA, prediction of an unknown sample set produced correct classification rates of 100% except for L. innocua FH (77%). At genus level, SIMCA produced correct classification rates of 96.7, 100, and 100% for P. fluorescens, P. mendocina, and P. putida, respectively. This successful investigation suggests that NIR spectroscopy can become a useful, rapid, and noninvasive tool for bacterial identification.  相似文献

Dough proofing is the resting period after mixing during which fermentation commences. Optimum dough proofing is important for production of high quality bread. Near- and mid-infrared spectroscopies have been used with some success to investigate macromolecular changes during dough mixing. In this work, both techniques were applied to a preliminary study of flour doughs during proofing. Spectra were collected contemporaneously by NIR (750-1100 nm) and MIR (4000-600 cm(-1)) instruments using a fiberoptic surface interactance probe and horizontal ATR cell, respectively. Studies were performed on flours of differing baking quality; these included strong baker's flour, retail flour, and gluten-free flour. Following principal component analysis, changes in the recorded spectral signals could be followed over time. It is apparent from the results that both vibrational spectroscopic techniques can identify changes in flour doughs during proofing and that it is possible to suggest which macromolecular species are involved.  相似文献

A Holocene sediment budget was constructed for the 758 km2 Dijle catchment in the Belgian loess belt, in order to understand long-term sediment dynamics. Hillslope sediment redistribution was calculated using soil profile information from 809 soil augerings, which was extrapolated to the entire catchment using morphometric classes. As large parts of the forests within the catchment prove to have undergone little or no erosion since medieval times, a correction was applied for the presence of forests. Total Holocene erosion amounts 817 ± 66 Mt for the catchment, of which 327 ± 34 Mt was deposited as colluvium. This corresponds with a net Holocene soil erosion rate of 10.8 ± 0.8 × 103 Mg ha− 1 for the entire Dijle catchment. Alluvial deposits were studied through 187 augerings spread over 17 cross-valley transects. The total alluvial sediment deposition equals 352 ± 11 Mt or 42% of total eroded sediment mass. Results indicate that at the scale of a medium-sized catchment the colluvial sediment sink is as important as the alluvial sediment sink and should not be neglected. As a result the estimation of erosion through alluvial storage and sediment export would yield large errors. Dating of sediment units show an important increase in alluvial deposition from medieval times onwards, indicating the important influence of agricultural activities that developed from that period. Mean sediment export rates from the catchment for the last 1000–1200 years range between 0.8 and 1.3 Mg ha− 1 a− 1 and are consistent with present suspended sediment measurements in the Dijle. Erosion for agricultural land for this period is 9.2 ± 2.2 Mg ha− 1 a− 1. Sediment budgets for the various tributary catchments provide an insight in the sources and sinks of sediment at different scales within the catchment.  相似文献

The aerial concentration of Monilinia fructigena (causing brown rot in pome fruit) conidia was sampled during 1997 and 1998 in an apple orchard and was related to weather conditions. The highest hourly concentration measured in 1997 was 230 conidia/m3, in 1998 concentrations were lower than in 1997 throughout the season. In both years concentrations were highest in the afternoon hours. Generalised linear models, employing a Poisson distribution for the spore counts and a logarithm link function, were used to study the relationships between spore counts and lagged weather variables. In 1997 the best fitting model had variables temperature lagged at 100 h, an east–west component of wind direction, and wind speed; whereas in 1998 the best model included in addition an effect of relative humidity. Temperature and wind direction had consistent effects on hourly spore counts in both years, but whereas temperature has a biologically relevant effect on spore production and maturation, the effect of wind direction is likely to reflect the purely local effect of orchard layout. Results are compared with observations made in stone fruit orchards where Monilinia laxa and Monilinia fructicola are the predominant species, and differences in epidemiology between these systems are discussed.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to use the natural dietary markers (stable isotopes and fatty acids) during grow‐out in a biofloc system and for the egg production of Farfantepenaeus brasiliensis shrimp. Egg production was compared for two broodstock origins: biofloc and a wild origin. To delineate the relative contribution to shrimp muscle and eggs, IsoSource software was used. The most important source that contributed to grow‐out shrimp was biofloc ≥250 μm. According to the principal component analysis (PCA) applied to the fatty acid profile of food sources, the first component explains 84.4% of the variability, and the most important source of fatty acids for this component was biofloc ≥250 μm. The most important fresh food sources that contributed to egg production were Artemia biomass, polychaetes and semi‐moist feed for both broodstock origins. According to a PCA analysis of the fatty acid profiles, the most important fresh foods were polychaetes and semi‐moist feed. In conclusion, both isotopic signature and fatty acid profile of the food sources can be used successfully to determine the integration of carbon in the diets of shrimp.  相似文献

Color sensor technologies offer opportunities for affordable and rapid assessment of soil organic carbon (SOC) and total nitrogen (TN) in the field, but the applicability of these technologies may vary by soil type. The objective of this study was to use an inexpensive color sensor to develop SOC and TN prediction models for the Russian Chernozem (Haplic Chernozem) in the Kursk region of Russia. Twenty-one dried soil samples were analyzed using a Nix Pro? color sensor that is controlled through a mobile application and Bluetooth to collect CIEL*a*b* (darkness to lightness, green to red, and blue to yellow) color data. Eleven samples were randomly selected to be used to construct prediction models and the remaining ten samples were set aside for cross validation. The root mean squared error (RMSE) was calculated to determine each model’s prediction error. The data from the eleven soil samples were used to develop the natural log of SOC (lnSOC) and TN (lnTN) prediction models using depth, L*, a*, and b* for each sample as predictor variables in regression analyses. Resulting residual plots, root mean square errors (RMSE), mean squared prediction error (MSPE) and coefficients of determination (R2, adjusted R2) were used to assess model fit for each of the SOC and total N prediction models. Final models were fit using all soil samples, which included depth and color variables, for lnSOC (R2 = 0.987, Adj. R2 = 0.981, RMSE = 0.003, p-value < 0.001, MSPE = 0.182) and lnTN (R2 = 0.980 Adj. R2 = 0.972, RMSE = 0.004, p-value < 0.001, MSPE = 0.001). Additionally, final models were fit for all soil samples, which included only color variables, for lnSOC (R2 = 0.959 Adj. R2 = 0.949, RMSE = 0.007, p-value < 0.001, MSPE = 0.536) and lnTN (R2 = 0.912 Adj. R2 = 0.890, RMSE = 0.015, p-value < 0.001, MSPE = 0.001). The results suggest that soil color may be used for rapid assessment of SOC and TN in these agriculturally important soils.  相似文献

Incomplete ossification of the humeral condyle (IOHC) is characterized by an intracondylar fissure located where the intercondylar physis is present in growing dogs. Its radiologic and computed tomographic features have been described but the magnetic resonance (MR) features have not been characterized. Our purpose was to further describe the range of MRappearances of IOHC, to assess the diagnostic capability of MRrelative to radiology, and to determine whether MRis able to identify the disease before a fissure forms. Thirty-eight elbow MRscans and radiographs, when available, were reviewed and divided into three groups. In Group 1 (affected elbows, n = 22), there was an intracondylar defect on MRwith variable appearance; the defect was not visible radiographically in 32% of the elbows. The main difference between Group 2 (nonaffected elbows, n = 6) and Group 3 (contralaterals to IOHC or to condylar fracture, without fissure, n = 10) was the appearance of the humeral condyle in short tau inversion recovery (STIR) sequences: all elbows in Group 2 had a homogeneous humeral condyle, whereas all but one in Group 3 were heterogeneous. One dog in Group 3 developed a complete condylar fissure 7 months after the first examination, when no evidence of an intracondylar defect had been detected. The MRappearance of IOHC is variable and a heterogeneous humeral condyle in STIR images without a clear defect may warn of the possibility for the subsequent development of a condylar fissure.  相似文献
