The present study was conducted on Hardhenu cattle to screen genomic region of leptin gene with an objective to find the association of genotypes with fertility and production traits. The association analysis with traits under study was analysed by least squares analysis of variance by taking SNPs genotype as fixed effects in the statistical model. The genotypic frequencies with respect to targeted loci g.92450765 G > A indicated that AG (0.54) genotype was highest in Hardhenu cattle. Chi-squared tests showed that g.92450765G > A SNP meet with the Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium (p > .05).The association analysis revealed significant association of genotypes with total milk yield (TMY) and 305 days milk yield (MY) (p < .05). Service period (SP) and calving interval (CI) were also found significantly associated with genotypes (p < .05). Whereas, lactation length (LL), dry days (DD) and age at first calving (AFC) did not divulge any significant association with genotype. The AG and GG genotypes were associated with higher milk yields as compared to AA genotype, indicating that allele G was associated with superior milk performance. However, AA genotyped cattle found to be favourable with SP, CI and artificial insemination (AI) per conception compared to AG and GG genotyped cows. Chi-square analysis revealed that genetic variants of g.92450765 G > A SNP of leptin gene differ significantly with regard to reproductive disorders incidence (p < .05). The frequency of GG genotype (88.89%) in the affected animal group was very high followed by AG. The animals with GG genotype were found to be more susceptible to reproductive disorders as suggested by the higher odd ratio value (16.00) in logistic model. These observations and their differential association with the fertility and production traits can be utilized as an aid to selection for genetic improvement of antagonistic traits in dairy cows. 相似文献

Phosphorus accumulation, leaching and residual effects on crop yields from long-term applications in the subtropics 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
The effects of 25 years of annual applications of P fertilizer on the accumulation and migration of soil Olsen‐P, and the effects of soil residual P on crop yields by withholding P application for the following 5 years, were evaluated in a subtropical region. Annual application of P fertilizer for 25 years to crops in summer (groundnut), winter (wheat, mustard or rapeseed) or in both seasons raised the Olsen‐P status of the plough layer (0–15 cm) from initially very low (12 kg P ha?1) to medium (18 kg P ha?1) and very high levels (40–59 kg P ha?1), depending on the amount of P surplus (amount of fertilizer applied in excess of removal by crops) (r = 0.86, P ≥ 0.01). However, only 4–9% of the applied P fertilizer accumulated as Olsen‐P to a depth of 15 cm (an increase of 2 mg kg?1per 100 kg ha?1 surplus P) in the sandy loam soil. In the following 5 years, the raising of 10 crops without P fertilizer applications decreased the accumulated Olsen‐P by only 20–30% depending upon the amount of accumulated P and crop requirements. After 29 years, 45–256 kg of residual P fertilizer had accumulated as Olsen‐P ha?1 in the uppermost 150 cm with 43–58% below 60 cm depth; this indicates enormous movement of applied P to deeper layers in this coarse textured soil with low P retention capacity for nutrients. Groundnut was more efficient in utilizing residual P than rapeseed; however, for both crops the yield advantage of residual P could be compensated for by fresh P applications. These results demonstrated little agronomic advantage above approximately 20 mg kg?1 Olsen‐P build‐up and suggested that further elevation of soil P status would only increase the risk of environmental problems associated with the loss of P from agricultural soils in this region. 相似文献

A two‐year field study was undertaken with clusterbean (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba L. Taub. cv. RGC‐936) under rainfed conditions. The experiments were set up in a split‐split‐plot design with three levels of phosphorus (0, 20, and 40 kg ha–1) and two levels of nitrogen (0 and 20 kg ha–1) with and without thiourea application (seed treatment with 500 mg kg–1 followed by two foliar sprays of 1000 mg kg–1 each at 25 and 40 d after sowing). The years varied in their pattern of precipitation and, consequently, in the available soil moisture at different growth stages. Phosphorous (P) and nitrogen (N) application either alone or in combination with thiourea resulted in significantly higher net photosynthetic rates and concentrations of chlorophyll, starch, soluble protein, and total free amino acids as well as nitrate reductase activity compared to control plants at both vegetative and flowering stages. However, the magnitude of favorable changes varied with soil moisture due to varying rainfall, and the effects of N, P, and thiourea were generally more pronounced in the vegetative stage. Seed yield, dry‐matter production, harvest index, and water‐use efficiency were significantly enhanced by the above mentioned treatments. The favorable effects of the treatments were realized through significant improvements of metabolic efficiency and maintenance of higher photosynthesis and nitrate reductase activity for more efficient N utilization. It is concluded that the improvement of P and N status of arid‐zone soils coupled with thiourea application can significantly improve the yield of clusterbean under rainfed conditions, though the potential gains may vary with soil‐moisture availability. 相似文献

Four genotypes of moth bean (Vigna aconitifolia Jacq. Marechal), including two early (RMO‐257 and CZM‐18) and two late flowering types (CAZRI moth‐1 and Jawala) were grown at two levels of phosphorus (0 and 40 kg ha–1) and subjected to drought by withholding of water until wilting at the pre‐flowering stage in a pot trial. Drought significantly decreased plant water potential, relative water content, rate of net photosynthesis, contents of chlorophyll, starch, soluble protein, and nitrate reductase activity in all genotypes. The adverse effects of drought were less pronounced in early than in late flowering genotypes. Phosphorus application significantly ameliorated the negative effects of drought on above parameters, particularly in the late genotypes. We conclude that P addition to moth bean may be justified even in low‐rainfall years because of its ability to improve yield under water‐limited conditions. 相似文献

p-[18F]Fluorobenzylguanidine ([18F]PFBG) is a norepinephrine analog that has been developed as a positron emission tomography (PET) imaging radiopharmaceutical. Myocardial sympathetic innervation, neuroendocrine structures, and tumors can be noninvasively imaged with [18F]PFBG. In this study, the uptake characteristics of [18F]PFBG were investigated in 2 dogs with a spontaneous pheochromocytoma. The extent of the pheochromocytoma was well documented in both dogs on the PET study. The standardized uptake values within the pheochromocytomas were greater than 25 by 10 min, and were 37 and 50 by 45 min in each dog. A third dog that was suspected to have an adrenal mass was also studied. In this dog, the [18F]PFBG study was normal. Surgical exploration and adrenal biopsy confirmed the [15F]PFBG imaging findings in both dogs. In each dog, there was rapid blood-pool clearance (within 10 min after intravenous administration of the [18F]PFBG), with high uptake specific within the myocardium and adrenal medulla. The results indicate that [18F]PFBG may be useful for imaging canine pheochromocytomas and aid in differentiating adrenal masses. 相似文献

Grain hardness is an important quality trait that influences product development in wheat. This trait is governed by variation in puroindoline proteins (PINA and PINB). Our study evaluated 551 Indian wheat germplasm lines for diversity in Pina and Pinb genes. Eighty-two lines were shortlisted for full length sequencing and grain hardness studies. Sequencing studies identified six unknown alleles: two for the Pina gene and four for the Pinb gene. Five of them were novel with non-synonymous changes in the corresponding amino acid sequences. Identified mutations in the deduced mature proteins and their pre- and pro-peptides influenced the hardness characteristics of the grain. We classified these 82 varieties into different hardness categories with reference to international and Indian systems of classification. The majority of Indian wheat varieties were categorized as hard. This study revealed that unexplored Indian wheat germplasm can be a good source of genetic variability for both Pina and Pinb genes, helping in marker-assisted breeding and in obtaining wheat with different textural properties. 相似文献

Abstract Traditional sorghum cultivars in the tropics are generally photoperiod sensitive, flowering just as or after the rains cease, so that their grains fill and mature during dry weather. Improved cultivars have been developed which flower and mature earlier in the season, when soil moisture levels are generally more favourable for grain filling, which potentially gives higher grain yields. However, the earlier flowering often results in the exposure of developing grain to wet conditions in which it can deteriorate rapidly. Grain moulds are a major component of the sorghum grain deterioration complex, and have become a widespread problem of improved sorghums in temperate and tropical regions. Many fungi have been isolated from mouldy grain, the most commonly occurring genera being Fusarium and Curvularia, and vary from those such as F. moniliforme Sheldon which are pathogenic on young developing inflorescences, to many saprophytic fungi which develop on the mature grains. The review covers terminology, causal agents, time of infection, predisposing factors, effects on yield and quality, control measures, resistance screening procedures and progress and recommendations for further research particularly in resistance. 相似文献

Most metal polluted natural environments are contaminated with multiple metals, and arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi are among the extracellular strategies to avoid metal toxicity. To understand the interaction between Cd, Zn and AM fungi Glomus mosseae, two genotypes (Sel 85N and P792) of pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan L. Millsp.), differing in their metal tolerance, were chosen for study. Results revealed that root dry weights were more severely affected than shoot dry weights as both the metals were accumulated in roots than in the aerial parts. Mycorrhization promoted biomass yields by decreasing metal content in plant tissues. Exposure to the metals resulted in oxidative burst (high H2O2, malondialdehyde contents and electrolyte leakage), which was accompanied by decreased membrane stability. However, increase in the level of total non‐protein thiols (TNP‐SH) and the activity of antioxidant enzymes like superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), peroxidase (POD) and glutathione reductase (GR) suggested that all these parameters were synergistic in combating heavy‐metal‐induced oxidative stress. Zn supplementation proved to be inhibitory for Cd‐induced oxidative stress. AM fungi alleviated oxidative stress through enhanced production of TNP‐SH as well as through upregulation of antioxidant enzymes.
