Zusammenfassung Anschließend an Bemerkungen zur allgemeinen Bedeutung der Nacktgerste, zu Fragen ihrer Züchtung u. dgl. werden die Ergebnisse mehrjähriger Untersuchungen und Beobachtungen an zwei röntgeninduzierten nacktkörnigen Sommergerstenmutanten mitgeteilt.Feld- und brautechnische Bonitierungsdaten sowie andere Beobachtungen ergeben weitgehende Übereinstimmung aller erfaßten Merkmale und Eigenschaften zwischen den Mutanten und ihren Ausgangssorten, mit Ausnahme des nackten bzw. bespelzten Korns. Drei- bzw. zweijährig durchgeführte Leistungsprüfungen erweisen unter Berücksichtigung des Spelzenanteils etwa die gleiche quantitative Leistung bei Mutanten und Ausgangssorten. Nach früheren und neuesten Fütterungsversuchen anderer Autoren mit Nacktgerste sind für die Mutanten gegenüber den Ausgangssorten höhere Nährstofferträge je Flächeneinheit zu erwarten. Die Mutanten dürften ein höheres Leistungsvermögen besitzen als andere Nacktgersten.Kreuzungen der Mutanten mit Nacktgersten des Weltsortiments, u. a. auch solchen aus Abessinien, sowie mit ihren Ausgangssorten zeigen, daß für beide Mutationen ein monomer rezessiver Erbgang und für alle in den Kreuzungen verwendeten nackten Formen Identität des Nacktfaktors vorliegt.Die Untersuchungen lassen keine Rückschlüsse auf eine das Ertragsvermögen reduzierende pleiotrope Wirkung des mutativ entstandenen Allels für Nacktkörnigkeit zu. Unter der Voraussetzung, daß neben der Identität der Loci auch eine solche der Allele bei Mutanten und natürlichen Nacktgersten besteht, kann das bisher nur allmähliche Fortschreiten der Nacktgerstenzüchtung nicht durch eine derartige Pleiotropie des Nacktfaktors bedingt sein. Die Nacktgerstenzüchtung dürfte daher durchaus nicht aussichtslos sein, jedoch deuten ihre Schwierigkeiten auf Koppelung des Nacktfaktors mit ungünstigen Genen.Für derartige Fälle, in denen die Einkreuzung bestimmter Faktoren aus Primitivformen in Zuchtsorten mit Schwierigkeiten verbunden ist, wird die experimentelle Mutationsauslösung als besonders aussichtsreiche Methode angesehen.  相似文献

The effect of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) on semen quality was examined in a group of 11 spontaneously infected boars in a commercial boar stud. Semen samples were collected 4 weeks prior to 4 weeks post-infection (wpi). Infection with PRRSV of the European genotype subtype 1 (EU-1) was verified by specific quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) in 36% of the serum samples. All boars seroconverted before 4 wpi and remained in normal condition throughout the study. Comparison of the percentage of morphologically intact spermatozoa revealed an increase of acrosome-defective spermatozoa (P = 0.012) between −4 and 4 wpi. Significant deleterious effects on semen quality were detected for membrane integrity when semen had been stored for 2 days after sampling. Analysis of sperm subpopulations in a thermoresistance test on day 7 after sampling revealed alterations in the percentage of circular, progressively motile spermatozoa (P = 0.013), in the percentage of non-linear, progressively motile spermatozoa (P = 0.01), and on the amplitude of lateral sperm head displacement (P = 0.047). There was no difference in the incidence of mitochondrially active spermatozoa (P = 0.075). Investigation of routine production data between pre- and post-infection status showed no differences on ejaculate volume (P = 0.417), sperm concentration (P = 0.788), and percentage of motile spermatozoa (P = 0.321). This case report provides insights into a potential control strategy for PRRSV outbreaks in boar studs.  相似文献

Prevention of heifer mastitis is a key element in preventing mastitis. Since pathogenesis of heifer mastitis is not fully understood yet, combating it is arduous. The goal of this study was to examine whether the premature loss of the keratin plug of the teat canal represents an important risk factor for the development of heifer mastitis. 84 dairy heifers (German Holstein) from six high-yielding dairy herds in Northern Germany were examined between March 2005 and June 2006. Each quarter was examined clinically at least three times before calving. If the teat canal of a quarter was open, secretion samples were collected for bacteriological analysis. After calving, four quarter samples were collected during the first lactation. A rapid increase of the proportion of open teat canals was detected in the preparturition period. No teat canals were open till 80 days before parturition, while 60% of the teat canals were open at 60 days before parturition. A time-scheduled infection pattern was observed: during the days 90-61, 60-31, and 30-0 before calving, skin inhabitants (coagulase-negative staphylococci, coryneform bacteria), cow-related, and environment-related microorganisms prevailed, respectively. A total of 77% of intramammary infections encountered at parturition had established previously. No significant association between the duration of open teat canals before calving and the udder health post partum was found. However, the incidence of clinical mastitis during first lactation was influenced largely by the duration of infection ante partum and the mastitis pathogen involved. This study shows that a high proportion of teat canals already opens several months before calving and that opening of the teat canal before calving is an important factor in the aetiology of heifer mastitis.  相似文献

Considering the increasing nutritional and commercial importance of carotenoids, there is an interest in developing a reliable method for authenticity assessment of these compounds. Applying isotope ratio mass spectrometry using elemental analysis in the "combustion" (C) and "pyrolysis" (P) modes (EA-C/P-IRMS), the delta (13)C V-PDB and delta (2)H V-SMOW values of selected carotenoids and alpha/beta-carotene-based commercial dietary supplements were determined in comparison to those of synthetic and "natural" references. The delta (13)C V-PDB and delta (2)H V-SMOW values of synthetic beta-carotene samples ( n = 4), ranging from -25.3 per thousand to -26.4 per thousand and from -144 per thousand to -155 per thousand, respectively, differed clearly from the data determined for carotenoids from various natural sources, including C 3 plant material ( n = 9; delta (13)C V-PDB ranging from -28.5 per thousand to -32.8 per thousand and delta (2)H V-SMOW from -180 per thousand to -275 per thousand) and microalgae Dunaliella salina ( n = 1; delta (13)C V-PDB value of -15.6 per thousand and delta (2)H V-SMOW value of -191 per thousand). From five commercial dietary supplements under study, two revealed delta (13)C V-PDB and delta (2)H V-SMOW values in areas as found for synthetic references, and the other three had values near those of biotechnological beta-carotene produced by D. salina. The delta (13)C V-PDB and delta (2)H V-SMOW values recorded for natural lycopene ( n = 4) and lutein ( n = 5) ranged from -31.1 per thousand to -31.8 per thousand and from -180 to -201 per thousand, as well as from -28.8 per thousand to -32.2 per thousand and from -186 per thousand to -245 per thousand, respectively. Synthetic canthaxanthin ( n = 3) exhibited delta (13)C V-PDB and delta (2)H V-SMOW values ranging from -25.0 per thousand to -28.6 per thousand and from -133 per thousand to -153 per thousand, respectively. The EA-C/P-IRMS application of this study showed that the natural stable isotopic composition of carotenoids is a powerful tool for determining their origin.  相似文献

The objective of this investigation was to provide a comprehensive analysis of the total lipid composition of present-day retail beef meat available at the consumer level and to evaluate the total lipid composition with special emphasis on the nutritional value. For this purpose, 40 beef cuts were obtained from four cattle farms based on either a natural grazing system (NGS) or an intensive production system (IPS). The total lipid composition was analyzed using complementary chemical and chromatographic procedures. The content of n-3 LC-PUFA, CLA, total trans-18:1, and branched-chain fatty acids was significantly higher in NGS beef than in IPS beef. The trans-18:1 and CLA profiles were affected by the different production systems, whereby they can be utilized empirically to differentiate between feeding regimen and production management. Fatty acid ratios that have health implications ( n-6/ n-3, LA/alphaLNA, and AA/EPA) were remarkably beneficial for NGS beef compared with IPS beef. In conclusion, from the human health perspective, beef raised on NGS is clearly superior with regard to a more favorable fatty acid profile in comparison to IPS beef.  相似文献
