The environmental impact of a well-established fish farm has beeninvestigated in surface sediments of the Ligurian Sea in order to assess thebiodeposition, bacterial community structure and dynamics at a mature stage oforganic enrichment.The Biopolymeric carbon (BPC) fraction of organic matter and phytopigmentconcentrations displayed very high values beneath the fish cages. In particularlipid, carbohydrate and chlorophyll-a concentrations werehigher in farm sediment while protein concentrations did not show significantchange between farm sediment and control.Benthic bacteria were closely related to organic enrichment and their densitywas three times higher (up to 3 × 1010 cellsg–1) in stations beneath the cages being positivelycorrelated with BPC (n = 10, p < 0.05) and lipid (n = 10, p < 0.05)concentrations. Colony forming units (CFU) counts of heterotrophic bacteriaindicate a shift in the relative importance of the gram negative bacterialfraction, displaying the predominance of theCytophaga/Flexibacter-like bacteria (CBF), as well as theoccurrence of pathogenic bacteria (such as Vibrio) insediments beneath the farm. In contrast, Gram positive bacteria were moreprevalent in control site where they represented up to 90% of total isolates.Aminopeptidase activity displayed higher values in sediment beneath the cages,whereas the enzymatic activity per bacterial cell was lower. These data suggesta functional stress of bacterial degradation rates and represent a potentialvaluable environmental index of imbalance between supply and removal of organicmatter in eutrophicated environments.Data presented in this study also suggest that either the biochemicalcomposition of sedimentary organic matter as well as the selected microbialvariables may represent useful tools for evaluating the effects of organicenrichment due to fish farming and could be proposed as new environmentalindices of aquaculture impact on marine sediment. 相似文献

The efficiency of diets with the inclusion of Spirulina for Siberian sturgeon weaning has been tested. Three isoproteic and isoenergetic diets were formulated with an increasing level of Indian strain Spirulina (SP 40%, SP 50% and SP 60%); the diets were tested against a control diet without microalgae. The results show that Spirulina inclusion improves growth and that an inclusion level of 50% gave the greatest growth rate, a better favourable feed conversion rate and the highest protein efficiency. The fatty acid composition of fillets showed differences between the experimental and control diets: an increase in the Spirulina level induces increases in palmitic and linoleic acids and a decrease in the myristic acid. The control diet was characterized by high levels of eicosapentaenoic and docosahexaenoic acids. At the end of the experiment, statistical differences appeared in the fatty acid profile of the sturgeon fillet, mainly concerning high content of monounsaturated fatty acid and polyunsaturated fatty acid in the sturgeon fillets. If the problems related to the high production costs are solved, Spirulina could prove a good partial substitute fish meal. 相似文献

In this study, we compared the effects of a Tisochrysis lutea (T. lutea) F&M-M36 methanolic extract with those of fucoxanthin (FX) at equivalent concentration, on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated RAW 264.7 macrophages. The T. lutea F&M-M36 methanolic extract contained 4.7 mg of FX and 6.22 mg of gallic acid equivalents of phenols per gram. HPLC analysis revealed the presence of simple phenolic acid derivatives. The T. lutea F&M-M36 extract exhibited a potent and concentration-dependent inhibitory activity against COX-2 dependent PGE2 production compared to FX alone. Compared to LPS, T. lutea F&M-M36 extract and FX reduced the expression of IL-6 and of Arg1 and enhanced that of IL-10 and of HO-1; T. lutea F&M-M36 extract also significantly abated the expression of NLRP3, enhanced mir-223 expression and reduced that of mir-146b, compared to LPS (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that T. lutea F&M-M36 methanolic extract has a peculiar anti-inflammatory activity against COX-2/PGE2 and NLRP3/mir-223 that might be attributable to the known anti-inflammatory effects of simple phenolic compounds found in the extract that may synergize with FX. Our data suggest that T. lutea F&M-M36 may serve as a source of anti-inflammatory compounds to be further evaluated in in vivo models of inflammation. 相似文献

In 53 racehorses with a mean age of 4.5 years old presented for poor performance, Small Airway Inflammatory Disease (SAID) was diagnosed by bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL). Thirty of these horses (58.5%) had arterial pCO2 above normal range (> 46 mmHg), while pO2 was within normal range (> 80 mmHg) in both hypercapnic (group A) and normocapnic (group B) horses although pO2 was significantly lower in group A horses. The horses were subsequently subdivided into two groups according to the duration of symptoms (group 1: less than 4 weeks; group 2: longer than 4 weeks). Horses from group 2 had significantly higher values of pCO2 (p < 0.01) , HCO3- (p < 0.01) and TCO2 (p < 0.05) when compared to horses from group 1. It was concluded that the duration of the inflammatory process may play a role in the alteration of blood/alveolar gas exchanges and acid-base status in SAID affected racehorses. 相似文献

Trichinellosis is a zoonotic disease due to the ingestion of raw or undercooked meat from animals infected with the larvae of nematodes belonging to the genus Trichinella. In January–February 2015, an outbreak of trichinellosis occurred in Genoa, Northern Italy. The epidemiological link was traced back to a dinner served at an agritourism farm on 31 December 2014, where a majority of the 52 guests had consumed the ‘beef’ steak tartare. The source of infection was not traced; however, it was noted that the amount of beef purchased officially for providing at the dinner did not correspond with that served, suggesting that meat of a different origin had been added to the beef to prepare the steak tartare. Clinical and laboratory data of 30 individuals out of the 52 (57.7%), of which four were hospitalized, were consistent with that of the case definition of trichinellosis. Western blot patterns of the sera from patients with confirmed trichinellosis were similar to the diagnostic pattern identified for the reference sera of Trichinella pseudospiralis but different from those of the control sera tested for patients infected with Trichinella spiralis and Trichinella britovi. Identification of T. pseudospiralis as the aetiological agent responsible for the outbreak of trichinellosis using an indirect tool represents an advancement in the epidemiological investigation of this zoonotic disease. 相似文献

The natural abundance deuterium NMR characterization of samples of the amino acids tyrosine (1) and phenylalanine (2), examined as the acetylated methyl esters 4 and 6, has been performed with the aim to identify by these means the contribution in animals of the hydroxylation of the diet l-phenylalanine (2) to the formation of l-tyrosine (1), a feature previously revealed on the same samples through the determination of the phenolic delta(18)O values. The study, which includes also the NMR examination of benzoic acid (5) from 2 and of tyrosol (7) from 1, substantially fails in providing the required information because the mode of deuterium labeling of tyrosine samples of different origins is quite similar but indicates a dramatic difference in the deuterium labeling pattern of the two amino acids 1 and 2. The most relevant variation is with regard to the deuterium enrichments at the CH(2) and CH positions, which are inverted in the two amino acids of natural derivation. Moreover, whereas the diastereotopic benzylic hydrogen atoms of l-tyrosine (1) appear to be equally deuterium enriched, in l-phenylalanine (2) the (D/H)(3)(R)() > (D/H)(3)(S)(). Similarly, benzoic acid (5) shows separate signals for the aromatic deuterium nuclei, which are quite indicative of the natural or synthetic derivation. The mode of deuterium labeling of the side chain of 1 and 2 is tentatively correlated to the different origins of the two amino acids, natural from animal sources for l-tyrosine and biotechnological probably from genetically modified microorganisms for l-phenylalanine. 相似文献

In the summer of 1980, 78 sediment samples were collected in the gulf of Naples. Samples were analyzed for total and fecal coliforms, fecal streptococci, sulfite reducer clostridia and total plate count. Over almost all of the area surveyed fecal pollution was widespread, but different indicators exhibited different distribution patterns. Chemotype analyses and random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) genomic analyses have been applied to the characterization of Allium sativum variety from Voghiera (Ferrara, Italy), a typical Italian product actually demanding the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO). The garlic from Voghiera is characterized by peculiar morphological and composition characteristics. The proximate composition and atomic absorbance spectrometry elemental pattern of this garlic suggested as the chemical composition did not depend on the intrinsic pedologic soil features only, but it was probably connected to some peculiar genetic characters. Amplification of genomic DNA using random primers highlighted a good clustering differentiating of Voghiera Allium sativum from five commercial reference samples used in this study (Piacentino, Serena, France, China, and Adriano varieties), confirming the existence of intervarietal genetic difference. The chemical composition of the Sardinian botargo by Mugil cephalus from different geographical origins was investigated. Fat ( approximately 20%), proteins ( approximately 50%), moisture ( approximately 22%), and salt ( approximately 7%) were measured in ground (G) and whole (W) commercial products. Among the nutritional compounds, omega-3 fatty acids were approximately 8%, squalene was approximately 15 mg/100 g, vitamin E was approximately 8.5 mg/kg, and cholesterol was approximately 300 mg/100 g, on average in both products. Antioxidant properties, assessed by the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl-hydrazyl (DPPH) test and expressed as Trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity (TEAC), showed quite good activity in extracted oil (0.8-1.1 mmol of Tolox/L). Major constituents in the samples varied noticeably, but only few statistical differences were evidenced between G or W products or between samples from different origins. Principal component analysis (PCA) of random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) and proteins, coupled with both, did not differentiate samples from different origins. The scope of this study was to evaluate the exposure of the Italian population to ochratoxin A (OTA) attributable to wine consumption. With this aim 1166 wine samples (773 red wines, 290 white, 75 rose, and 28 dessert wines), collected in 19 different Italian regions and mostly produced between 1988 and 2004, were analyzed for OTA content. The obtained results are reported by year of harvest, geographical area of production, and type of wine. Red wine showed the highest maximum level of contamination (7.50 ng/mL), even though rose wines were characterized by a higher mean value (0.01 ng/mL). A gradually increasing mean concentration was also observed from the north (0.05 ng/mL) to south of Italy (0.54 ng/mL). Exposure calculations, performed using two different consumption databases, indicate a daily intake for consumer only of 0.59 up to 1.24 ng/(kg of b.w.)/day and of 0.33 up to 0.90 ng/(kg of b.w.)/day for the total population. Even in the worst case, corresponding to the calculation of the intake for consumers only in southern Italy and Islands and considering the mean consumption data increased by 1 standard deviation, a quite low exposure (1.68 ng/(kg of b.w.)/day, accounting for 9.8% of TDI) was obtained. Considering the overall OTA dietary exposure, obtained exposure rates indicate that wine did not pose a risk to the Italian population health. 相似文献
