Hydrochemical processes involved in the development of hydromorphic Podzols are a major concern for the upper Amazon Basin because of the extent of the areas affected by such processes and the large amounts of organic carbon and associated metals exported to the rivers. The dynamics and chemical composition of ground and surface waters were studied along an Acrisol‐Podzol sequence lying in an open depression of a plateau. Water levels were monitored along the sequence over a period of 2 years by means of piezometers. Water was sampled in zero‐tension lysimeters for groundwater and for surface water in the drainage network of the depression. The pH and concentrations of organic carbon and major elements (Si, Fe and Al) were determined. The contrasted changes reported for concentrations of Si, organic carbon and metals (Fe, Al) mainly reflect the dynamics of the groundwater and the weathering conditions that prevail in the soils. Iron is released by the reductive dissolution of Fe oxides, mostly in the Bg horizons of the upslope Acrisols. It moves laterally under the control of hydraulic gradients and migrates through the iron‐depleted Podzols where it is exported to the river network. Aluminium is released from the dissolution of Al‐bearing minerals (gibbsite and kaolinite) at the margin of the podzolic area but is immobilized as organo‐Al complexes in spodic horizons. In downslope positions, the quick recharge of the groundwater and large release of organic compounds lead to acidification and a loss of metals (mainly Al), previously stored in the Podzols. 相似文献

In this paper we investigated the human thermoregulatory responses, especially core temperature behavior during exercise and
recovery at ambient temperature of 10 °C and 50 % R.H. under the conditions of wearing three kinds of clothing with same weight
and different constructions. Six healthy men wore three kinds of clothing: one insulating the upper half of the body thinly
and the lower half of the body heavily (clothing A, the weights in the upper and lower halves of the body were 489 g and 1278
g, respectively.), the second one insulating the upper half of the body heavily and the lower half of the body thinly (clothing
B, 1212 g and 559 g, respectively.), and the third one insulating the upper and lower halves of the body moderately (clothing
C, 899 g and 879 g, respectively.). The level of rectal temperature was the greatest during exercise in clothing C and the
lowest during recovery in clothing A. The increasing and decreasing rates of core temperature during exercise and recovery,
respectively, were the smallest in clothing B. These findings are discussed in terms of different cooling efficiency from

The giant freshwater prawn, Macrobrachium rosenbergii, is a species with a high commercial value in aquaculture. Two experiments were performed to determine the effects of salinities on the osmoregulation, growth and molting cycles of M. rosenbergii during growout. The first experiment was designed to determine whether these animals are capable of adapting to the changes in salinity seen in salinity intrusions in tropical deltas, with an incremental increase in salinity of 3‰ per day from 0‰ to 30‰ Haemolymph osmolality was rapidly regulated up to salinities of 15‰ , whereas animals conformed at higher salinities. The second experiment determined the growth, moulting cycle, osmolality, muscle water content and mortality during a 4‐month experiment at 0‰, 15‰ or 25‰ salinity. The weight gains in 0‰ and 15‰ were not significantly different and were comparable to the growth rates achieved in production farms with body mass increases of 2.6 and 2.3‐fold their initial body mass, respectively, after 4 months. The 25‰ group suffered from low growth, high mortality and a significantly lower moulting frequency. These data show that this species can be reared in brackish water up to 15‰, allowing for farming in the large areas impacted by salt water intrusions in tropical deltas. 相似文献

The aim of this work was to evaluate the effects of Haematococcus pluvialis (H. pluvialis) (carotenoid source) and H. pluvialis plus soy lecithin on development, carotenoid content, and pigmentation of shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei). One hundred and eighty shrimps (7.8 g) were divided in six tanks (n = 30) and fed with control food, H. pluvialis, and H. pluvialis plus soy lecithin for 2 weeks. Carotenoids were extracted with acetone and quantified by UV–vis spectrophotometry, and astaxanthin was determined by high‐performance liquid chromatography. Colour was analysed by colorimetry. Lecithin/H. pluvialis group presented higher survival rate (100%) when compared to control group (93.3%). Haematococcus pluvialis and lecithin/H. pluvialis groups presented higher red‐like colour (a* 16.4 and 19.9) than control (a* 20.6). Lecithin/H. pluvialis group presented higher carotenoids content (8.2 mg kg?1 muscle, 26.8 mg kg?1 exoskeleton) and astaxanthin (8.5 mg kg?1 muscle, 23.3 mg kg?1 exoskeleton) than control (carotenoids: 4.2 mg kg?1 muscle, 12.3 mg kg?1 exoskeleton; astaxanthin: 3.2 mg kg?1 muscle, 8.1 mg kg?1 exoskeleton). Feeding with 60 ppm carotenoids (from H. pluvialis) during 2 weeks was sufficient for favouring red‐like pigmentation in shrimp, and lecithin increased astaxanthin content only in exoskeleton. 相似文献

This paper reviews progress towards the establishment of an Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Power Grid (APG) and the key barriers to multilateral cross-border electricity trade in ASEAN. An analysis across political, technical, institutional, economic, environmental, social and time dimensions is employed. Using a policy sequencing framework, the paper concludes it remains premature for ASEAN to pursue a strong form of power sector market integration on account of the sizeable barriers that currently remain, especially economic and institutional barriers. Focusing on bilateral power purchase agreements and large-scale investments in solar and wind power over 2022–2030 would help to develop stronger foundations for ASEAN to make steps towards deeper regional integration in the electricity sector in subsequent years, while also being consistent with renewables adoption goals. 相似文献

Thymic epithelial cells (TECs) account for the most abundant and dominant stromal component of the thymus, where T cells mature. Oxidative- or cytotoxic-stress associated injury in TECs, a significant and common problem in many clinical settings, may cause a compromised thymopoietic capacity of TECs, resulting in clinically significant immune deficiency disorders or impairment in the adaptive immune response in the body. The present study demonstrated that fish collagen peptides (FCP) increase cell viability, reduce intracellular levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS), and impede apoptosis by repressing the expression of Bax and Bad and the release of cytochrome c, and by upregulating the expression of Bcl-2 and Bcl-xL in cisplatin-treated TECs. These inhibitory effects of FCP on TEC damage occur via the suppression of ROS generation and MAPK (p38 MAPK, JNK, and ERK) activity. Taken together, our data suggest that FCP can be used as a promising protective agent against cytotoxic insults- or ROS-mediated TEC injury. Furthermore, our findings provide new insights into a therapeutic approach for the future application of FCP in the prevention and treatment of various types of oxidative- or cytotoxic stress-related cell injury in TECs as well as age-related or acute thymus involution. 相似文献

Rainfall, stemflow, and throughfall were collected from 1996 to 1999 at two types of forest sites: (1) forests near the traffic roads and urban areas and (2) forests away from the urban areas at Mt. Gokurakuji, Hiroshima, western Japan in order to estimatethe effects of anthropogenic activities on atmospheric deposition. Rainfall deposition for major ions showed small differences between the sites. The NO3 - and SO4 2-concentrations in stemflow were higher at the urban-facing slope than at the mountain-facing slope. Throughfall deposition of NO3 - and SO4 2- was also higher at urban-facing slopes. Net throughfall (NTF) deposition (throughfall minus rainfall) of NO3 - and SO4 2- accounted for 77 and50% of the total throughfall deposition on urban-facing slopes, respectively, while it accounted for 44 and 23% on themountain-facing slopes, respectively. These results indicated a higher contribution from dry deposition on urban-facing slopes compared to mountain-facing slopes. Atmospheric N (NO3 - +NH4 +) deposition from throughfall was estimated to be around 17–26 kg N ha-1 yr-1 on urban-facing slopes, which was greater than the threshold of N deposition that could cause nitrogen leaching in Europe and the United States. The highload of atmospheric N deposition may be one of the factors bringing about the decline of pine forests on urban-facing slopesof Mt. Gokurakuji. 相似文献

This study is concerned with the evaluation of established diagnostic tests for diagnosis of Trypanosoma evansi in pigs. The immune trypanolysis test (TL), card agglutination test (CATT), latex agglutination test (LATEX), enzyme-linked
immunosorbent assay (ELISA), microhaematocrit centrifugation technique (MHCT) and mouse inoculation (MI) tests were initially
evaluated in experimentally infected fattening pigs. All infected pigs were confirmed parasitologically positive with both
MHCT and MI. Results of the serological assays indicated that the TL could be a reference test for the presence of RoTat 1.2
antibodies in pigs. The results of the CATT and LATEX were inconsistent with the TL while the ELISA results correlated with
the TL results. The four serological assays were subsequently used in two field surveys in Vietnam and Thailand. Results of
the two agglutination assays (CATT and LATEX) were not consistent and did not correlate with TL results. The ELISA at percentage
positivity of 22 appeared to have good ability to discriminate between seropositive and seronegative animals. Of the 437 samples
collected at smallholder pig premises in northern Vietnam, no positive pigs were detected with the TL test. In Thailand, 77
samples were collected from five farrowing farms with a history of surra. Two parasitologically positive sows were found and

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with metastasis to the spleen in a Holstein cow was studied by histopathologic and immunohistochemical methods. The tumor was characterized by a pseudoglandular (acinar) pattern with an associated fibrous stroma. Individual cells often had a "hepatoid" appearance but were interspersed with scattered cells exhibiting a clear, periodic acid-Schiff (PAS)-positive cytoplasm and small eccentric nuclei. This pattern was present in nodules found in both liver and spleen. Moreover, hepatoid tumor cells were positive for alpha-fetoprotein. Immunohistochemical studies suggest that myofibroblasts were responsible for the production of fibrous septa surrounding the pseudoglandular structures of bovine HCC. In summary, our histologic and immunohistochemical findings support a diagnosis of primary HCC with splenic metastasis. Furthermore, the associated stromal response appears to be of a myofibroblast origin. The primary etiology of bovine HCC and the significance of the intralesional, PAS-positive clear cells remain undetermined. 相似文献
