This study evaluated the use of microalgae (Aurantiochytrium sp.) meal as a substitute for fish oil in the diet of juvenile Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) reared in a clear‐water system. Dietary treatments at five replacement levels (0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) were performed in triplicate. After 46 days, only a slight difference in shrimp final weight was observed among treatments (0.61 g). An increase in final weight was observed with replacement of up to 50% fish oil for microalgae meal, while the optimal percentage of replacement estimated was 44.7%. Feed conversion rate (FCR) of animals fed a diet of Aurantiochytrium sp.meal to replace up to 50% fish oil decreased, and the optimal percentage of replacement estimated was 49.3%. The fatty acids profile in shrimp muscle tissue demonstrated an increase in docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) from 10.03% to 14.28% with increased replacement of fish oil by microalgae meal in the diet. Therefore, the partial replacement of fish oil by microalgae meal resulted in improved shrimp growth and FCR, and total replacement of dietary fish oil had no negative effects on these parameters. In addition, inclusion of microalgae meal raises the level of DHA in shrimp muscle.  相似文献

The use of a concentrate emulsion of Melia azedarach green fruits and a suspension of the fungus Beauveria bassiana was evaluated in the control of Rhipicephalus microplus on artificially infested cattle. The evaluation was conducted following the protocol established by the Brazilian Agriculture Ministry. Five groups of 4 or 5 animals were allocated to one of the following treatments: emulsion concentrate of M. azedarach at 0.25% (T AZED 0.25%), emulsion concentrate of M. azedarach at 0.5% (T AZED 0.5%), B. bassiana at 2.4 × 10(8) conidia (T BASS), association of the concentrate of M. azedarach at 0.25% with B. bassiana at 2.4 × 10(8) conidia (T AZED 0.25%+BASS), and control (untreated). The association of the two compounds provided better results than any one isolated treatment, indicating compatibility or perhaps a synergy between M. azedarach and B. bassiana. This treatment resulted in fewer engorged females (129 ± 70) than in the control group (233 ± 82), showing high performance against all developmental stages of the tick. Results revealed an apparent synergistic effect of M. azedarach and B. bassiana in the control of R. microplus that should be further investigated.  相似文献

The effect of the addition of a 0.1 ml drop of activated charcoal (AC) on microspore culture embryogenesis was studied in nine morphotypes of Brassica oleracea. Embryo yields were significantly increased in all of the morphotypes by the addition of the 0.1 ml drop of AC to the microspore culture media. The magnitude of the response to the addition of AC varied with the different plants and morphotypes. The addition of AC never produced a detrimental effect. A qualitative improvement of the subsequent development of embryos to plants was also observed with the addition of AC. Data suggest that the addition of AC to microspore culture media promoted embryo production in different B. oleracea morphotypes. A growth trial was conducted with the aim of developing a practical, environmentally sustainable and cost-effective plant-protein-based diet for Senegalese sole juveniles without compromising growth or protein deposition. A reference diet contained fish meal as the main protein source (F45, containing 37% fish meal and 45% of the dietary protein being from marine sources) and four plant-protein diets either containing 5% (F15) or no fishmeal (F5). The F15 diet also contained 5% hydrolysed protein (CPSP) and 5% squid meal while the F5 contained 2% CPSP and 3% squid meal. The rest of the protein derived from a blend of soybean meal, corn and wheat gluten. Thus, the plant-protein fraction in these test diets ranged from 70–80%. The plant-based diets were supplemented either with a mixture of all indispensable amino acids (IAA) (F15 + IAA, F5 + IAA) or only with lysine (F15 + Lys, F5 + Lys). Triplicate groups of 18 fish of 9.5 g were fed by automatic feeders that distributed 8 meals over 24 h, for a period of 12 weeks.At the end of the experiment mean body weight more than tripled in all treatments (32.8 to 42.7 g). Sole fed with either F15 + Lys (33.3 g) or F5 + Lys (32.8 g) grew significantly less than all the other treatments. Protein productive value (PPV) was significantly lower in sole fed with F5 + Lys (0.30) than in all other treatments (0.34 to 0.37) while F5 + Lys (0.23) energy productive value (EPV) just differed significantly from fish fed with F45 (0.38). Moreover, protein gain (P gain) was significantly higher in sole fed with diet supplemented with all IAA (F15 + IAA and F5 + IAA) than those fed with diet with only lysine added (F15 + Lys and F5 + Lys) and a strong positive correlation between P gain and methionine (Met) intake was found (P = 0.00002).Dietary fish meal protein can be totally replaced by a mixture of plant-protein sources without any adverse effects on growth, feed or protein utilization provided the dietary amino acids are balanced. The test diet F5 + IAA seems a good alternative to use in Senegalese sole production when the main objective is to substitute an increasingly scarce ingredient – fish meal – without compromising fish performance. Moreover, for large-scale production feeds the F15 + Lys putatively supplemented with Met, Thr and Arg would be recommended.  相似文献

Interlaboratory comparison programs have been found to be useful to investigate potential error sources and therefore to remove or minimize their effects. A proficiency test was performed for five soil micronutrients [boron (B), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), copper (Cu), and zinc (Zn)] by forty-nine independent Brazilian laboratories on four duplicated soil samples. Extraction of B was performed by hot water, whereas Fe, Mn, Cu, and Zn were extracted by diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA). The objectives were to compare the performance of different statistical methods for assessing between-laboratory variability (reproducibility) and to quantify the variability within single laboratories (repeatability). The statistical methods employed to compare interlaboratory analytical results were (1) Agronomic Institute method (mean, standard deviation, coefficient of variation), (2) Z1 score (mean and standard deviation, including outliers), (3) Z2 score (mean and standard deviation, excluding outliers), (4) robust Z score (median and standardized interquartile amplitude) denoted as Z3, (5) Cochran test, and (6) Cochran + Grubbs tests. In addition, the robust Z-score method, denoted as Z4, was used to assess intralaboratory variability. The performance of any laboratory for the analysis of soil micronutrients varied depending on the statistical method applied. The percentage of laboratories providing satisfactory results was 79 percent (Agronomic Institute), 95 percent (Z1), 92 percent (Z2), 89 percent (robust Z3 score), 97 percent (Cochran), and 95 percent (Cochran + Grubbs). The Z-score tests become stronger and more rigorous when outliers were excluded (Z2) or when the standardized interquartile amplitude was used (Z3). Cochran and Grubbs tests, which are based on the removal of extreme values, were weaker than the other tests evaluated. In conclusion, the method employed by the proficiency test of the Agronomic Institute for removing outliers has been found to be the strongest and strictest one, yielding a reliable comparison of the results from soil micronutrient analyses.  相似文献

A total of 306,698 racing performance data recorded between 1992 and 2002 from 25495 Brazilian Thoroughbred horses was analyzed to estimate the variance components using the Random Regression Model (RRM) compared to the Classical Repeatability Animal Model (CRAM). The performance was evaluated using the race time (in seconds) to run distances of 1000, 1100, 1200, 1300, 1400, 1500 or 1600 meters. The pedigree of each horse was extended as far as possible, with a total of 36,659 animals. The simple correlation between Breeding Value (BV) for the race time estimated by both procedures was high (r = 0.963) when the data were expressed at the mean level of all distances. However, with the RRM it was possible to estimate the genetic parameters and the BV of all animals at the trajectory of each one of the seven distances. Also, results clearly showed that a single BV estimated by CRAM, is neither an adequate nor a sufficient indicator for the selection of the best horses throughout the trajectory of distance performance. We concluded that the RRM procedure is highly recommended for the evaluation of racehorse performance.  相似文献

Canine mast cell tumour (MCT) is a biologically heterogeneous disease. The extracellular matrix degradation promoted by matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) has been studied in an attempt to elucidate the mechanisms involved in the biological behaviour of tumours. The aim of this study was to characterize the expression of MMP‐2 and ‐9 and tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinase (TIMP)‐1 and ‐2 in canine cutaneous MCTs and to evaluate their prognostic values. Immunohistochemical staining for MMP‐2, MMP‐9, TIMP‐2 and TIMP‐1 was performed in 46 canine cases of MCTs. TIMP‐1 expression showed an independent prognostic value for post‐surgical survival and disease‐related mortality. Dogs with MCTs showing less than 22.9% mast cell TIMP‐1 positivity were more prone to die because of the disease and had a shorter post‐surgical survival. This article suggests the involvement of TIMP‐1 in MCT progression, by contributing to a good outcome in patients with MCTs.  相似文献

The inclusion of phytogenics in fish feed is a promising strategy to compensate for the negative performance effects of replacing fishmeal (FM) with vegetable sources. The present work assessed the interactive effects of different dietary FM levels (22.5 and 10% of formulation) and the supplementation of a commercial blend of anise, citrus, and oregano essential oils (Digestarom PEP M.G.E 150) on European sea bass, Dicentrarchus labrax growth performance, nutrient utilization, gut morphology, antioxidant status, and immunological response over a 60‐day growth trial. Results showed decreased growth and protein efficiency ratio and increased feed conversion ratio with a low dietary FM level. In contrast, supplementation of the phytogenic product demonstrated improved performance and nutrient utilization together with increased protein and energy retention. Supplementation with the plant essential oils fully compensated for the negative intestinal changes observed in sea bass fed a low‐FM diet but showed little improvement in fish immunological response, except for the 30% increase in lysozyme activity observed in fish fed the low FM‐supplemented diet compared to those fed the standard high‐FM diet. Overall, this study supports the use of this phytogenic product in low‐FM diets as a possible tool to decrease feed costs associated with FM without compromising fish performance, nutrient utilization, and health.  相似文献
