Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) have been found at high levels, up to 7.6?×?106?pg/g, in biosolids commonly applied to agricultural soils. A field investigation was carried out in this study to measure concentrations of PBDEs in biosolid-amended agricultural soils in which various amounts of biosolids (20 and 80?t/ha) had been applied. Concentrations of PBDEs in surface soils that had received a single application of 80?t/ha biosolids were one to two orders of magnitude greater than that in soil, which had received a single application of 20?t/ha of biosolids. Assessment of PBDEs levels at different depths, between 0.05 and 1.05?m, in soils that received 80?t/ha biosolids, showed that PBDEs were mobilized from the surface soil to lower depths. Total PBDEs concentrations decreased from 10,250?pg/g dry weight basis (dw) in the 0.05?m soil layer to 220?pg/g dw at a depth of 1?m. The distribution of PBDEs with depth and cation exchange capacity of the soil could be described as exponential functions. The coefficients of correlation ranged from 0.47 to 0.57 and 0.47 to 0.67, respectively. Despite the deviation in the experimental measurements induced by variables, such as non-uniform biosolid application, heterogeneity of the soil, and the uneven surface of the field, variations of PBDEs along the soil profile in the biosolid-amended soil were clearly demonstrated. 相似文献

In this study, the effects of 1 h aeration, nitrogen gas N2(g) sparging (15 and 30 min) and increasing ferric ions (Fe+3) as FeSO4 (10, 20 and 50 mg L−1) and Fe3O4 nanoparticles (1, 2 and 4 g L−1) concentrations on three less hydrophobic and three more hydrophobic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and toxicity
removals from a petrochemical industry in Izmir (Turkey) were investigated in a sonicator with a power of 650 W and an ultrasound
frequency of 35 kHz; 1 h aeration increased the yields in benzo[b]fluoranthene, benzo[k]fluoranthene and benzo[a]pyrene PAHs (less hydrophobic) from 62% to 67% to around 95–97% after 150 min sonication at 60°C. However, 1 h aeration did
not contribute to the yields of more hydrophobic PAHs (indeno[1,2,3-cd]pyrene, dibenz[a,h]anthracene, benzo[g,h,i]perylene). The maximum yields were obtained at acidic and alkaline pH for more and less hydrophobic PAHs, respectively, after
60 and 120 min sonication at 30°C; 30 min N2(g) sparging, 50 mg L−1 Fe+3 increased the yields of less hydropobic PAHs after 150 min sonication at 60°C. Two milligrams per liter of Fe3O4 nanoparticles increased both less (87–88%) and more (96–98%) hydrophobic PAH yields. The Daphnia magna acute toxicity test showed that the toxicity decreased significantly with an hour aeration, 30 min N2(g) sparging, 50 mg L−1 Fe+3 and 2 g L−1 Fe3O4 nanoparticles at 60°C after 120 and 150 min sonications. Vibrio fischeri was found to be more resistant to the sonicated samples than D. magna. Efficiently utilizing the nongrain portion of the corn plant as ruminant food and the grain for ethanol will allow the optimization of both food and fuel production. Corn and corn stover could be more effectively used if they were harvested earlier before dry down. Corn harvested at different moisture contents (MCs) may exhibit different processing characteristics for the ethanol industry, because of differences in physical and chemical properties. Therefore, the objective of this study was to investigate the effect of corn harvest MC on dry‐grind fermentation characteristics and dried distillers grains with solubles (DDGS) composition. Pioneer hybrid 32D78 was harvested at seven different dates from August 21 to November 23, 2009, with harvest MCs ranging from 73 to 21% (wb). The corn samples with different harvest MCs were evaluated by a conventional dry‐grind process. Final ethanol concentration from the corn with harvest MC of 54% (kernel dent stage) was 17.9% (v/v), which was significantly higher (0.5–1.2 percentage points) than the mature corn with lower harvest MCs (P < 0.05). Ethanol conversion efficiencies for the corn with harvest MCs of 73 and 54% (wb) were 98.5 and 93.2%, respectively, whereas ethanol conversion efficiencies for the corn with lower harvest MCs were significantly lower (P < 0.05), ranging between 83.2 and 88.3%. For DDGS composition, with corn harvest MC decreasing from 73 to 21% (wb), the residual starch concentration increased from 7.7 to 15.2%, the crude protein concentration decreased from 29.4 to 24.9%, and the neutral detergent fiber concentration decreased from 26.6 to 20.6%. 相似文献

We developed a model of 545 components (nodes) and 1259 interactions representing signaling pathways and cellular machines in the hippocampal CA1 neuron. Using graph theory methods, we analyzed ligand-induced signal flow through the system. Specification of input and output nodes allowed us to identify functional modules. Networking resulted in the emergence of regulatory motifs, such as positive and negative feedback and feedforward loops, that process information. Key regulators of plasticity were highly connected nodes required for the formation of regulatory motifs, indicating the potential importance of such motifs in determining cellular choices between homeostasis and plasticity. 相似文献

The diet composition and fish preference of piscivorous Eurasian otters (Lutra lutra) were studied in two fish farm systems in Hungary using spraint (otter faeces) analysis during two wintering periods. The
primary food source of otters in both fish farms was fish (97–99% of biomass). The main fish prey was small-sized, below 100 g

The properties of frozen and unfrozen water in two different wheat flours (hard and soft), and in their main components (gluten, starch, damaged starch, water‐soluble and water‐insoluble pentosans), were described using modulated differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). As a reference, enthalpy values of crystallization (298 J/g) and melting (335 J/g) of pure water were determined from the total heat flow curves. The separation of thermal events between the reversing and nonreversing heat flows with modulated DSC was not effective due to disturbances in the modulated temperature scan. For wheat flours and their components, linear regressions described well the changes in frozen water content calculated from enthalpies of freezing (R2 = 0.970–0.982) or melting (R2 = 0.783–0.996). The unfrozen water content (UFWC) calculated for the hard wheat flour (29–31%, db) was close to that calculated for the soft wheat flour (30–32%). The UFWC of wheat gluten (38–47%), starch (38–42%), damaged starch (37–40%), water‐soluble pentosans (51%), and water‐insoluble pentosans (40–44%) were higher than the corresponding values for the flours. The simple summation of the contributions of each component cannot be used to estimate the overall behavior of flours. 相似文献
