Transient expression of the Pseudomonas syringae avirulence gene avrPto in plant cells resulted in a Pto-dependent necrosis. The AvrPto avirulence protein was observed to interact directly with the Pto resistance protein in the yeast two-hybrid system. Mutations in the Pto and avrPto genes which reduce in vivo activity had parallel effects on association in the two-hybrid assay. These data suggest that during infection the pathogen delivers AvrPto into the plant host cell and that resistance is specified by direct interaction of Pto with AvrPto. 相似文献

低温能促进荔枝(LitchichinestsSonn.)开花,但是成功诱导开花的临界温度和所需低温量并不清楚。研究了最高温/最低温:15°/5°,20°/5°,20°/10°,20°/15°,25°/10°,25°/15°,25°/20°和30°/20℃8个温度处理对KwaiMayPink荔枝和Casino荔枝营养生长和开花的影响。在第2个试验中,WaiChee荔枝在转移到无诱导条件的30°/20℃温度前,分别给予0,2,4,6,8,10和31周的15℃低温诱导。在第3个试验中.WaiChee荔枝生长温度为15℃时,每24小时内给予高于20℃的温度处理时间分别为0,1,2和8h(15℃以上分别为0,2,4和15h)。在第1个试验中,KwaiMayPink的营养生长温度为25°/20℃和30°/20℃,温度为25°/10℃和25°/15℃时,既有营养生长,又有花穗发育,较低的温度更利于开花。Casino荔枝除了在25°/10℃和25°/15℃的温度条件下既无营养生长,也无花穗发育外,其余处理的反映和KwaiMayPink荔枝类似。对2个荔枝品种而言,在20°/15℃和更低的温度时,几乎所有枝条都开了花。‘WaiChee’荔枝成花诱导条件为在转移到高温条件下之前,保持15℃的低温4周,最长6周。低温时间的长短还影响花穗的类型,15℃的低温诱导10周后,‘WaiChee’荔枝几乎无有叶花穗。保持15℃的低温 相似文献

The Sierra Madre fault, along the southern flank of the San Gabriel Mountains in the Los Angeles region, has failed in magnitude 7.2 to 7.6 events at least twice in the past 15,000 years. Restoration of slip on the fault indicated a minimum of about 4.0 meters of slip from the most recent earthquake and suggests a total cumulative slip of about 10.5 meters for the past two prehistoric earthquakes. Large surface displacements and strong ground motions resulting from greater than magnitude 7 earthquakes within the Los Angeles region are not yet considered in most seismic hazard and risk assessments. 相似文献

Community respiration (R) rates are scaled as the two-thirds power of the gross primary production (P) rates of aquatic ecosystems, indicating that the role of aquatic biota as carbon dioxide sources or sinks depends on its productivity. Unproductive aquatic ecosystems support a disproportionately higher respiration rate than that of productive aquatic ecosystems, tend to be heterotrophic (R > P), and act as carbon dioxide sources. The average P required for aquatic ecosystems to become autotrophic (P > R) is over an order of magnitude greater for marshes than for the open sea. Although four-fifths of the upper ocean is expected to be net heterotrophic, this carbon demand can be balanced by the excess production over the remaining one-fifth of the ocean. 相似文献

Surface current patterns were used to map dispersal routes of pelagic larvae from 18 coral reef sites in the Caribbean. The sites varied, both as sources and recipients of larvae, by an order of magnitude. It is likely that sites supplied copiously from "upstream" reef areas will be more resilient to recruitment overfishing, less susceptible to species loss, and less reliant on local management than places with little upstream reef. Pedotransfer functions (PTFs) to predict bulk density (BD) from basic soil data are presented. Available data pertaining to seasonally impounded shrink–swell soils of Jabalpur district in the Madhya Pradesh state of India were used for the study. The data included horizon-wise information of 41 soil profiles in the study area covering nearly 5 million ha. Six independent variables, namely textural data (sand, silt and clay), field capacity (FC), permanent wilting point (PWP) and organic carbon content (OC) were used as input in hierarchical steps to establish dependencies, with bulk density as the dependent variable, using statistical regression and artificial neural networks. The PTFs derived using neural networks [average root mean square error (RMSE) 0.05] were relatively better than statistical regression PTFs (average RMSE > 0.1). The best-performing PTFs required input data on sand, silt content, FC and PWP, with lowest prediction errors (RMSE 0.01, maximum absolute error (MAE) 0.01) and highest values of index of agreement (d, 0.95) and R 2 (0.65). Use of measures of structure, as well as information on pore structure, was found to be essential to derive acceptable PTFs. Inclusion of OC as an input variable showed relatively better fitting to the training data set, implying an underlying relationship between OC and BD, but the neural networks could not mimic the relationship when tested against subset. 相似文献

Some locally available fruits and vegetables of the arid zone of Rajasthanwere analyzed for their -carotene content; the selected fruits and vegetables were: Dansra (Rhus myserensis), Kachri (Cucumis collosus), fruit Kachri (Cucumis collosus), Kair (Capparisdecidua) and Sanghri (Prosopis cineriria). The -carotene contents of the samples were estimated in fresh and various processed states (blanched, dried and roasted). The results showed the heat lability of -carotene. There are several hurdles to ensure sustainable seed production and consistent flow of improved legume varieties in sub‐Saharan Africa (SSA) and South Asia (SA). The unreliable demand, autogamous nature of most of the grain legumes, and slow variety replacement rate by smallholder farmers do not provide strong incentive for private seed companies to invest in legume seed business. Unless a well thought‐out and comprehensive approach to legume seed delivery is developed, current seed shortages will continue, eroding emerging market opportunities. The experiences reported here are collated through a 10‐year partnership project, the Tropical Legumes in SSA and SA. It fostered innovative public–private partnerships in joint testing of innovative market‐led seed systems, skills and knowledge enhancement, de‐risking private sector initiatives that introduced in new approaches and previously overlooked entities in technology delivery. As new public and private seed companies, individual seed entrepreneurs and farmer organizations emerged, the existing ones enhanced their capacities. This resulted in significant rise in production, availability and accessibility of various seed grades of newly improved and farmer demanded legume varieties in the target countries. 相似文献

Nutrient concentrations in plant and soil and their rates of cycling in poplar (Populus deltoides)-based agroforestry systems were studied at Pusa, Bihar, India. The nutrient concentrations in the standing biomass of the
crop were more than those in tree, whereas the nutrient contents showed the reverse trend. Soil, litter and vegetation accounted
for 80.3–99.5, 0.1–5.0 and 0.4–14.7%, respectively, of the total nutrients in the system. Considerable reduction (40–54%)
in concentration of nutrients in leaves occurred during senescence. The uptake of nutrients by vegetation, and also by different
components with and without adjustment for internal recycling, were calculated separately. Annual transfer of litter nutrient
to the soil by vegetation was 37.3–146.2 N, 5.6–17.9 P and 25.0–66.3 K kg ha−1 year−1 in young (3-year-old) and mature (9-year-old) plantations. Turnover rate and time for different nutrients ranged between
0.86–0.99 year−1 and 1.01–1.16 years, respectively. Compartmental models for nutrient dynamics have been developed to represent the distribution
of nutrient contents and net annual fluxes within the system. This study shows that the poplar-based agroforestry system can
