The arrival of powdery mildew, phylloxera, and then downy mildew from America in the late 19th/early 20th century, was one of the most important causes of the loss of grapevine diversity in Europe. Many varieties traditionally grown in small winemaking areas of Europe were substituted by direct producing hybrids or by a small number of varieties from other vine-growing areas. For geographic, economic, sociological, and cultural reasons, the north and northwest of Spain acts as a kind of refuge area where grapevine diversity is still high. At the Misión Biológica de Galicia (CSIC) research station a collection of living vines with a number of dispersed individuals belonging to old varieties was established in 1992. Many of these varieties had practically disappeared from vineyards and the majority existed only as centuries-old individuals.  相似文献

This report describes an alternative surgical technique for performing scrotal ablation and orchiectomy in the adult male sugar glider (Petaurus breviceps) using electrosurgery. Eight animals from a local small mammal shelter group that presented for routine surgical castration for population control measures were included in this study. Mean surgical time was 4.37 ± 2.13 seconds. Mean anesthesia time was 12.32 ± 5.63 minutes. Mean recovery time was 8.37 ± 3.68 minutes. Mean total procedure time was 22.24 ± 5.69 minutes. No perioperative complications were reported. All animals appeared to have sufficient pain management with an analgesia and anti-inflammatory protocol using butorphanol and meloxicam. No over grooming and or self-injurious behaviors were reported by the local shelter during both the 24-hour and 14-day recheck examinations. Electrosurgery scrotal ablation and orchiectomy therefore offers an alternate route for the practicing veterinarian to perform safe and efficient castrations in male sugar gliders. Histologically, in the epididymis, 3 of the 8 sugar gliders had evidence of a well-defined region in the head, between the efferent ducts and the remaining epididymis. The lining cells differed morphologically from those constituting the remaining epithelial lining. The presence of eosinophilic vacuoles in the cytoplasm of the cells in this region suggests a secretory activity.  相似文献

The plant growth, nutrient acquisition, metal translocation and antioxidant activities [ascorbate peroxidase (APX), glutatione reductase (GR), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT)] were measured in plants growing in a heavy-metal (HM) multicontaminated soil inoculated with selected autochthonous microorganisms [arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungus and/or plant growth promoting bacteria (PGPB)] and/or amended with an Aspergillus niger-treated agrowaste. The treated agrowaste on its own increased root growth by 296% and shoot growth by 504% compared with non-treated control plants. Both chemical and biological treatments, particularly when combined, enhanced plant shoot and root development. The stimulation effect on plant biomass was concomitant with increased AM colonization, P and K assimilation, and reduced metal translocation from soil to plant shoot. The treated residue, particularly through interactions with AM inoculation, produced the expected bioremediation effect, leading to enhanced plant development and successful rehabilitation of contaminated soil. The enhancement of CAT, APX and GR activities caused by AM inoculation suggests that AM colonization helped plants to limit oxidative damage to biomolecules in response to metal stress. The response of the plant's antioxidant activities to the amendment appears to be related to enhanced plant biomass production. The application of amendments and/or microbial inoculations to enhance plant growth and reduce metal translocation in multicontaminated soil could be a promising strategy for remediating HM pollution.  相似文献

This article examines innovation processes in forest recreational services on the basis of case studies in five European countries with differing institutional backgrounds of forest ownership and access rights. The analysis reveals that forest-related recreation services are developed under varying institutional conditions and on public as well as private land. Ideas for innovations in recreational services may come from within but often outside the forestry sector. Financing is provided from public and private sources. Both public and private spheres have important roles in providing natural, human and financial resources and usually a network of public and private actors are involved in innovation processes. Of particular importance are cross-sectoral interactions between forestry and tourism. Greater institutional support is needed for the development of forest-related recreation services because the field is at an early stage of development. It is concluded that support should focus on providing ideas and financial resources for product development and on facilitating cross-sectoral interaction between forestry and tourism actors. A particular need is seen for development of models for durable interaction between land owners and tourism operators on a regional scale.  相似文献

The aim of this research is to develop an analytical methodology for the determination of complexed element in fertilizers and, then, to obtain an adequate criteria for the inclusion of these products in European Regulations on Fertilizers. This paper compares the CEN method EN 13366:2001, based on the retention of the cations into a sulfonated resin, and an AOAC modified method, based on the precipitation of the inorganic forms at pH 9. A limited interlaboratory trial was carried out to demonstrate the applicability of the AOAC modified method and to study the effect of the removal of organic compounds and the addition of a matrix modifier solution before the element quantification. Then, a global interlaboratory trial was developed to evaluate the validation and quality parameters of the method. As a second objective, the AOAC modified method was applied to the determination of the complexing capacity of complexing agents based on lignosulfonates and amino acids. The AOAC modified method was the choice methodology because it is adequate for the determination of complexing capacity of micronutrients in fertilizer.  相似文献

To compare the in vitro bioaccessibility of lutein, zeaxanthin, beta-cryptoxanthin, lycopene, and alpha-and beta-carotenes from relevant dietary contributors, a gastrointestinal model was used to assess the stability, isomerization, carotenol ester hydrolysis, and micellarization. Salivar, gastric, duodenal, and micellar phases were extracted, with and without saponification, and analyzed by using a quality-controlled HPLC method. The stability of carotenoids under digestion conditions was >75%, regardless of the food analyzed, whereas micellarization ranged from 5 to 100%, depending on the carotenoid and the food. cis-Isomers were maintained in processed foods, but increased in fresh foods. Xanthophyll ester hydrolysis was incomplete (<40%), and both free and ester forms were incorporated into supernatants, regardless of the xanthophyll involved and the food assessed. In vitro bioaccesibility varies widely both for different carotenoids in a given food and for a given carotenoid in different foods. Although in vitro bioaccesibility may not be enough to predict the in vivo bioavailability, it may be relevant for the food industry and for food-based dietary guidelines.  相似文献
