ABSTRACT In vitro grown kiwifruit (Actinidia deliciosa, Liang and Ferguson) plantlets were treated with two humic fractions distinguished by two different relative molecular mass and characterized through their elemental composition and 13Carbon (C) nuclear magnetic resonance. The effects exerted on plant growth, root morphology, and nutrition were evidenced by means of leaves and roots mineral content, root respiration, and nitrate reductase activity. The two humic substances differentially influenced the studied parameters. The lower molecular fraction humic substance, endowed with a higher content of phenolic and carboxylic groups, caused an enhanced content of micro- and macro-elements, together with a higher root respiration at lower concentrations (0.5–1 mg C L? 1). The high molecular fraction humic substance, needed higher concentrations (> 5 mg C L? 1) in order to achieve similar effects. This fraction also caused major changes on root morphology. The ability to improve micronutrient assimilation, in particular iron, confirmed the agronomic importance of humic substances on soil fertility. 相似文献

Leucospermum is a genus of the Proteaceae family that has achieved an increasing importance in the market of cut flowers worldwide. Some Leucospemum plants do not grow properly in clay soils, but grafting on a clay-soil resistant rootstock could provide better performances. The nutrient composition of two cultivars of Leucospermum (‘High Gold’ and ‘Succession II’) cultivated in clay soil was evaluated planting them directly or grafting on Leucospermum patersonii rootstock. The assay consisted of four treatments, T1 = ‘High Gold’ planted directly, T2 = grafted ‘High Gold’, T3 = ‘Succession II’ planted directly, and T4 = grafted ‘Succession II’. The experiment was carried out over three years, following a randomized block design with four replications per treatment. Foliar calcium (Ca) decreased in grafted plants of both cultivars. Nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, Ca, and magnesium contents of the cut-flowers of ‘High Gold’ treatments were higher than those of ‘Succession II’, though in the third year no comparison with T3 plants was possible because most of them had died. Further purification of the apolar extracts of the sponge Plakinastrella mamillaris, afforded a new oxygenated polyketide named gracilioether K, together with the previously isolated gracilioethers E–G and gracilioethers I and J. The structure of the new compound has been elucidated by extensive NMR (1H and 13C, COSY, HSQC, HMBC, and ROESY) and ESI-MS analysis. With the exception of gracilioether F, all compounds are endowed with potent pregnane-X-receptor (PXR) agonistic activity and therefore represent a new chemotype of potential anti-inflammatory leads. Docking calculations suggested theoretical binding modes of the identified compounds, compatible with an agonistic activity on hPXR, and clarified the molecular basis of their biological activities. 相似文献

The effects of Al3+ [supplied as Al2(SO4)3·18H2O] addition to culture media (pH 4.0) on growth, morphogenesis (in leaf explants), and oxidative stress reactions in in vitro cultures of ‘BA 29’ quince were investigated. Aluminium (Al 0.5 mM) strongly inhibited shoot growth in the proliferation and rooting phases (Al 2.2 mM), reduced shoot proliferation (Al 1.1 mM), and induced tissue browning. Superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity was increased in shoot cultures supplemented with 2 mM Al. Malondialdehyde (MDA) content of shoots was strongly increased by Al during proliferation (starting from Al 1.7 mM) and rooting (already at Al 1.1 mM), thus serving as a good ‘marker’ for Al toxicity. Even a low concentration of Al (0.5 mM) in the shoot induction medium was found to inhibit shoot regeneration. When standard (Al 0) shoot induction medium was used, leaf explant growth was only reduced by 2.2 mM Al in the subsequent growth phases. Following a preliminary selection for their growth on Al-enriched media, 82 potentially Al-tolerant quince somaclones were selected for further trials. 相似文献

A conventional PCR and a SYBR Green real-time PCR assays for the detection and quantification of Phytophthora cryptogea, an economically important pathogen, have been developed and tested. A conventional primer set (Cryp1 and Cryp2) was designed
from the Ypt1 gene of P. cryptogea. A 369 bp product was amplified on DNA from 17 isolates of P. cryptogea. No product was amplified on DNA from 34 other Phytophthora spp., water moulds, true fungi and bacteria. In addition, Cryp1/Cryp2 primers were successfully adapted to real-time PCR.
The conventional PCR and real-time PCR assays were compared. The PCR was able to detect the pathogen on naturally infected
gerbera plants and on symptomatic artificially infected plants collected 21 days after pathogen inoculation. The detection
limit was 5 × 103
P. cryptogea zoospores and 16 fg of DNA. Real-time PCR showed a detection limit 100 times lower (50 zoospores, 160 ag of DNA) and the
possibility of detecting the pathogen in symptomless artificially infected plants and in the re-circulating nutrient solution

A 2‐months‐old male German shepherd puppy was referred for regurgitation and delayed growth. Radiographic and endoscopic investigations revealed a precardiac megaoesophagus and oesophageal constriction at the level of the heart base. At post‐mortem examination, a specific form of persistent right aortic arch characterized by an aberrant left subclavian artery in combination with a ligamentum arteriosum originating at the aberrant left subclavian artery (PRAA‐SA‐LA) was detected. A complete‐type persistent left cranial vena cava (PLCVC) was also observed. This is the first report describing the association between PRAA‐SA‐LA and PLCVC in a dog with megaoesophagus. 相似文献

The objective of the study was to determine the effects of dietary supplementation with glutamine on the immune function and milk production of dairy cows. The experiment involved 24 Friesian cows, divided into three groups of eight each, according to the level of rumen-protected glutamine supplementation: a diet with no supplementation (Control), a diet supplemented with 160 g/day/cow (G160) and a diet supplemented with 320 g/day/cow (G320). At 0, 30, and 60 days of the experiment, lymphocyte response to phytohemoagglutinin (PHA) was determined in vivo for each animal. Humoral response to chicken egg albumin (OVA) and interleukin - (IL)-1β, IL-6 and IL-10 plasma levels were measured at 0, 15, 30, 45, and 60 days. Results demonstrate that supplementing 160 g/day/cow of glutamine can modulate immune responses of dairy cows and enhance the amino acid profile of cow milk. 相似文献
