The optimum conditions for durable press treatment of cotton fabrics using glyoxal as a nonformaldehyde crosslinking agent were investigated. Crosslinking reaction was conducted in the presence of different catalysts such as aluminum sulfate, magnesium chloride, or magnesium chloride-citric acid mixture at various mole ratios of catalyst to glyoxal. Aluminum sulfate was proven the most effective one among those used. Glycol addition into a glyoxal padding bath increased the wrinkle recovery angle(WRA) and whiteness of treated fabrics. The optimum mole ratio of glycol to glyoxal was 1:1. Diethylene glycol addition produced better overall performance to the glyoxal-crosslinked fabric compared to ethylene glycol addition.  相似文献

Voltage-gated K+ (Kv) channels have been considered to be a regulator of membrane potential and neuronal excitability. Recently, accumulated evidence has indicated that several Kv channel subtypes contribute to the control of cell proliferation in various types of cells and are worth noting as potential emerging molecular targets of cancer therapy. In the present study, we investigated the effects of the Kv1.1-specific blocker, dendrotoxin-κ (DTX-κ), on tumor formation induced by the human lung adenocarcinoma cell line A549 in a xenograft model. Kv1.1 mRNA and protein was expressed in A549 cells and the blockade of Kv1.1 by DTX-κ, reduced tumor formation in nude mice. Furthermore, treatment with DTX-κ significantly increased protein expression of p21Waf1/Cip1, p27Kip1, and p15INK4B and significantly decreased protein expression of cyclin D3 in tumor tissues compared to the control. These results suggest that DTX-κ has anti-tumor effects in A549 cells through the pathway governing G1-S transition.  相似文献

Recently, the world''s first transgenic dogs were produced by somatic cell nuclear transfer. However, cellular senescence is a major limiting factor for producing more advanced transgenic dogs. To overcome this obstacle, we rejuvenated transgenic cells using a re-cloning technique. Fibroblasts from post-mortem red fluorescent protein (RFP) dog were reconstructed with in vivo matured oocytes and transferred into 10 surrogate dogs. One puppy was produced and confirmed as a re-cloned dog. Although the puppy was lost during birth, we successfully established a rejuvenated fibroblast cell line from this animal. The cell line was found to stably express RFP and is ready for additional genetic modification.  相似文献

Photosynthesis uses light energy to drive the oxidation of water at an oxygen-evolving catalytic site within photosystem II (PSII). We report the structure of PSII of the cyanobacterium Thermosynechococcus elongatus at 3.5 angstrom resolution. We have assigned most of the amino acid residues of this 650-kilodalton dimeric multisubunit complex and refined the structure to reveal its molecular architecture. Consequently, we are able to describe details of the binding sites for cofactors and propose a structure of the oxygen-evolving center (OEC). The data strongly suggest that the OEC contains a cubane-like Mn3CaO4 cluster linked to a fourth Mn by a mono-micro-oxo bridge. The details of the surrounding coordination sphere of the metal cluster and the implications for a possible oxygen-evolving mechanism are discussed.  相似文献

Polylactic acid (PLA) has received considerable attention as a biomass material for the textile industry. To use a PLA fabric in the textile industry, suitable postprocessing that can promote hydrophilicity of such fabrics is required. Here, hydrolytic action of a proteolytic enzyme (alcalase from Bacillus licheniformis) on PLA fibers was evaluated. In addition, the effects of an additive on the enzymatic hydrolysis were analyzed. The results revealed that the optimal enzymatic-hydrolysis conditions for this alcalase are pH 9.5, temperature 60 °C, enzyme concentration 50 % on weight of fabric (owf), and Lcysteine concentration of 3 mM. PLA fabrics were hydrolyzed effectively, however; there was no damage to these fabrics judging by tensile strength and surface observations. X-ray diffractometry identified a new peak (at 2θ=18.5 °), implying a morphological change caused by the treatment. Moreover, hydrophilic properties such as moisture regain and dyeing properties were enhanced by this proteolytic enzymatic hydrolysis. Therefore, according to this study, enzymatic hydrolysis is a suitable finishing method for improvement of hydrophilicity of PLA fabrics.  相似文献

Molecular typing methods have become a common part of the surveillance of foodborne pathogens. In particular, pulsed‐field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) has been used successfully to identify outbreaks of Escherichia coli O157:H7 in humans from a variety of food and environmental sources. However, some PFGE patterns appear commonly in surveillance systems, making it more difficult to distinguish between outbreak and sporadic cases based on molecular data alone. In addition, it is unknown whether these common patterns might have unique epidemiological characteristics reflected in their spatial and temporal distributions. Using E. coli O157:H7 surveillance data from Alberta, collected from 2000 to 2002, we investigated whether E. coli O157:H7 with provincial PFGE pattern 8 (national designation ECXAI.0001) clustered in space, time and space–time relative to other PFGE patterns using the spatial scan statistic. Based on our purely spatial and temporal scans using a Bernoulli model, there did not appear to be strong evidence that isolates of E. coli O157:H7 with provincial PFGE pattern 8 are distributed differently from other PFGE patterns. However, we did identify space–time clusters of isolates with PFGE pattern 8, using a Bernoulli model and a space–time permutation model, which included known outbreaks and potentially unrecognized outbreaks or additional outbreak cases. There were differences between the two models in the space–time clusters identified, which suggests that the use of both models could increase the sensitivity of a quantitative surveillance system for identifying outbreaks involving isolates sharing a common PFGE pattern.  相似文献

In order to realize flexible organic light emitting diode (OLED), it is critically important to protect moisture and oxygen penetration into the flexible device through the polymer substrates because of intrinsically poor stability of organic materials of OLED to moisture. Since complete protection of the moisture penetration is almost impossible, moisture absorbents are used inside OLED. In this study, metal oxide/polymer hybrid nanofiber with mechanical flexibility and efficient moisture absorption capability was fabricated by electrospinning. Hydrophilic poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP) or hydrophobic poly(vinylidenefluoride) (PVDF) and calcium oxide (CaO) were used as the fiber forming polymers and as the moisture absorbing particle, respectively. Polymers were first dissolved in appropriate solvents and CaO was then dispersed in the prepared polymer solutions. The hybrid solution was then electrospun, producing the hybrid nanofiber web looking like paper with thickness of about 100 µm. It was observed that all CaO particles were uniformly held by the nanofiber. It was also observed that only a small portion of the surface of CaO particles was covered by fiber since the fiber diameter was much smaller than the CaO particle size. This implied effective moisture absorption through the free surface of CaO. The hybrid nanofiber absorbed moisture very efficiently upto about 70 % of the nanofiber mass. Once moisture was absorbed by the nanofiber, it was never released even at 150 °C in vacuum for 2 hours. It is, therefore, expected that the nanofiber may be applied as the flexible thin moisture absorbent to improve stability of the flexible OLED.  相似文献

Nitric oxide reductase (NOR) is an iron-containing enzyme that catalyzes the reduction of nitric oxide (NO) to generate a major greenhouse gas, nitrous oxide (N(2)O). Here, we report the crystal structure of NOR from Pseudomonas aeruginosa at 2.7 angstrom resolution. The structure reveals details of the catalytic binuclear center. The non-heme iron (Fe(B)) is coordinated by three His and one Glu ligands, but a His-Tyr covalent linkage common in cytochrome oxidases (COX) is absent. This structural characteristic is crucial for NOR reaction. Although the overall structure of NOR is closely related to COX, neither the D- nor K-proton pathway, which connect the COX active center to the intracellular space, was observed. Protons required for the NOR reaction are probably provided from the extracellular side.  相似文献

The fishery for Antarctic krill (Euphausia superba) is the largest by tonnage in the Southern Ocean. The catch remained relatively stable at around 120 000 tonnes for 17 years until 2009, but has recently increased to more than 200 000 tonnes. The Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources precautionary catch limits for this species total over 8.6 million tonnes so it remains one of the ocean’s largest known underexploited stocks. Recent developments in harvesting technology and in products being derived from krill indicate renewed interest in exploiting this resource. At the same time, there are changes in the Southern Ocean environment that are affecting both krill and the fishery. This paper summarizes the current state of this fishery and highlights the changes that are affecting it.  相似文献
