The purpose of this experiment was to study the effects of Gymnadenia conopsea polysaccharide (GCP) extract on growth performance, meat quality and antioxidant function house-fed mutton sheep under oxidative stress, so as to provide experimental basis for extensive research and development of Gymnadenia conopsea and its extracts. Twenty 6-month-old healthy male Small-Tailed Han sheep with body weight of (35.0 ±4.0) kg were randomly divided into two groups. The experimental group (n=10) and control group(n=10). The whole experiment lasted for 42 d and was divided into 3 periods: the first 15 days were the blank period; the middle 15 days were the treatment period; the last 12 days were the observation period ofter modeling. From the first day of the treatment period, the control group was fed with basal diet, and the experimental group was fed pellet basal diet containing 30 mg·kg-1 GCP extract. On the 15th day of the treatment period, the sheep in each group were intraperitoneally injected with 10 mg·kg-1 Diquat solution according to sheep body weight(BW), and then fed for another 12 days. On the 1 st, 15th, 30th, 33rd, 36th, 39th and 42nd morning of the whole experimental period, fasting weight and blood samples were collected before feeding. The serum was separated and the antioxidant indexes (SOD, GSH-Px, T-AOC, MDA) in serum were determined. On the 42nd day of the whole experimental period, 5 sheep randomly selected from each group were slaughtered and meat samples were collected to determine the meat quality. The results showed that the addition of GCP extract to the diet of the sheep could increase the average daily feed intake (P<0.05). When the body was subjected to oxidative stress, the indexes of daily gain and antioxidant enzymes recovered rapidly on experimental group, the mutton drip loss decreased significantly, and the mutton sheer force increased significantly(P<0.05). The results indicated that GCP extract could improve the growth performance of mutton sheep, and alleviated the decline of growth performance and antioxidant performance caused by oxidative stress, and had a certain effect of antioxidant stress. 相似文献
Cultivation of fungi for food by fungus-growing ants (Attini: Formicidae) originated about 50 million years ago. The subsequent evolutionary history of this agricultural symbiosis was inferred from phylogenetic and population-genetic patterns of 553 cultivars isolated from gardens of "primitive" fungus-growing ants. These patterns indicate that fungus-growing ants succeeded at domesticating multiple cultivars, that the ants are capable of switching to novel cultivars, that single ant species farm a diversity of cultivars, and that cultivars are shared occasionally between distantly related ant species, probably by lateral transfer between ant colonies. 相似文献
Animals used in sport should be treated as required to ensure animal welfare but any such use of medication should also be controlled to ensure integrity. Pharmacokinetic studies on groups of six greyhounds were performed to measure plasma and urine levels of carprofen and firocoxib to inform medication control advice. Using the standard methodology for medication control the Irrelevant Plasma Concentration was determined as 20 and 2 ng/mL for carprofen and firocoxib, respectively. The Irrelevant Urine Concentration was also determined as 0.3 and 2 ng/mL for carprofen and firocoxib, respectively. These Irrelevant Plasma and Urine Concentrations will allow laboratory Screening Limits, Detection Times and Withdrawal Time advice to be determined and publicised by regulators of greyhound racing. The Screening Limits will also inform Recommended Limits of Detection if meat-containing residues of these medications are fed to greyhounds. 相似文献
The present study attempted to verify the prevalence of and risk factors for diarrhea-causing agents in dairy calves from Brazil. Additionally, ages with a higher risk of occurrence for each agent were verified by means of the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. The collections were performed on 39 farms, belonging to 29 municipalities located in eight states of Brazil. It was possible to conclude that the prevalence of Coronavirus, Rotavirus, Cryptosporidium spp., Eimeria spp., and nematodes was 7.20% (95% CI 4.54–9.78), 6.37% (95% CI 3.85–8.89), 51.52% (95% CI 45.26–55.57), 3.46% (95% CI 2.24–4.67), and 3.46% (95% CI 2.24–4.67), respectively. Ages with higher probabilities of occurrence of these diseases in calves were <?10, >?8, >?6, >?37, and >?36 days, respectively. Diarrhea occurred more significantly (P?<?0.0001) in animals less than 21 days old and mainly on those receiving milk through automatic feeders (P?<?0.001). Cryptosporidium spp. were a risk factor for the occurrence of Rotavirus, and vice versa (P?=?0.0039) and presented a positive correlation with Coronavirus (P?=?0.0089). Calves that drink water from rivers, streams, and ponds had a higher chance of being infected by Eimeria spp. (P?<?0.0001), as well as developing infection by nematodes (P?<?0.0001). The results found in this study highlight the importance of studying the agents of diarrhea together, once they act as coinfection where the losses triggered for the owners will involve some of these agents simultaneously.
