Micro X‐ray fluorescence (µ‐XRF) analysis of otoliths was evaluated as a method to estimate the proportion of stocked one‐summer‐old whitefish Coregonus lavaretus L. in catches of adult fish (n = 20) ascending the River Kemijoki to spawn. Laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA‐ICP‐MS) analysis was applied as control. Polished otoliths were scanned with µ‐XRF to obtain strontium maps that were used to infer visually the provenance of the whitefish. Thirteen of the fish showed signs of being stocked as one‐summer‐old fingerlings. LA‐ICP‐MS was applied to determine the elemental composition in a spot outside the core of the otolith. The results were largely consistent with the visual inspection of the µ‐XRF mapped otoliths. In conclusion, µ‐XRF mapping successfully identified whitefish stocked as one‐summer‐old fingerlings. The vast majority of whitefish returning to the River Kemijoki to spawn were stocked fish. 相似文献

Semi‐dwarf wheat is an important prerequisite for releasing a successful commercial cultivar in high‐yielding environments. In Northern Europe, this aim is achieved by using one of the dwarfing genes Rht‐B1 (formerly known as Rht‐1) or Rht‐D1 (Rht‐2). Both genes, however, result in a higher susceptibility to Fusarium head blight (FHB). We analysed the possibility to use the two non‐adapted FHB resistance quantitative trait loci Fhb1 and Fhb5 (syn. QFhs.ifa‐5A) to counterbalance the negative effect of the dwarfing allele Rht‐D1b in a winter wheat population of 585 doubled‐haploid (DH) lines segregating for the three loci. All lines were inoculated with Fusarium culmorum at four locations and analysed for FHB severity, plant height, and heading date. The DH population showed a significant (p < 0.001) genotypic variation for FHB severity ranging from 3.6% to 65.9% with a very high entry‐mean heritability of 0.95. The dwarfing allele Rht‐D1b reduced plant height by 24 cm, but nearly doubled the FHB susceptibility (24.74% vs. 12.74%). The resistance alleles of Fhb1 and Fhb5 reduced FHB susceptibility by 6.5 and 11.3 percentage points, respectively. Taken all three loci together, Fhb5 alone was already able to reduce FHB susceptibility to the same extent as Rht‐D1b increased it. This opens new avenues for selecting semi‐dwarf wheat by marker‐assisted introgression of Fhb5 without the enhancement of FHB susceptibility. 相似文献

genetic resources: semi-wild samples, landraces, and cultivars developed in local breeding programmes, as well as diverse
germplasm from the northern temperate zone. The objective of this investigation was to determine which S

alleles are most important in the sweet cherry genetic resources collections and to compare the identified allelic and genotypic
frequencies in material of different origin. Accessions in the two collections were screened for the presence of the self-incompatibility
(S) S

to S
6
alleles, using PCR based typing. Significant differences (P < 0.05) between screened collections were found in frequencies of S
4
and S
5
alleles. Analysis of allele combinations identified the high occurrence of selections with the S-genotype S

This work focuses on the effects of variable amount of genomic information in the Bayesian estimation of unknown variance components associated with single‐step genomic prediction. We propose a quantitative criterion for the amount of genomic information included in the model and use it to study the relative effect of genomic data on efficiency of sampling from the posterior distribution of parameters of the single‐step model when conducting a Bayesian analysis with estimating unknown variances. The rate of change of estimated variances was dependent on the amount of genomic information involved in the analysis, but did not depend on the Gibbs updating schemes applied for sampling realizations of the posterior distribution. Simulation revealed a gradual deterioration of convergence rates for the locations parameters when new genomic data were gradually added into the analysis. In contrast, the convergence of variance components showed continuous improvement under the same conditions. The sampling efficiency increased proportionally to the amount of genomic information. In addition, an optimal amount of genomic information in variance–covariance matrix that guaranty the most (computationally) efficient analysis was found to correspond a proportion of animals genotyped ***0.8. The proposed criterion yield a characterization of expected performance of the Gibbs sampler if the analysis is subject to adjustment of the amount of genomic data and can be used to guide researchers on how large a proportion of animals should be genotyped in order to attain an efficient analysis. 相似文献

The Grey Mouse Lemur (Microcebus murinus) is a nocturnal lemur species that lives only in Madagascar. It is one of the most abundant lemur species and its native populations are not endangered, but animals belonging to this species are rarely exhibited in zoos. While tumours are quite frequently described in other primates, there are very few publications about neoplasia in lemurs. In this case report we describe a mandibular osteoblastic osteosarcoma in a Grey Mouse Lemur (Microcebus murinus). To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first scientific article describing osteosarcoma in a prosimian and also reporting a tumour in the mandible in this taxon. 相似文献

Eyespot is a major disease of common wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) in temperate climates and causes yield losses of up to 40%. The causal agents of eyespot are Oculimacula acuformis (syn. Tapesia acuformis; anamorph: Helgardia acuformis syn. Pseudocercosporella herpotrichoides var. acuformis) and O. yallundae (syn. T. yallundae; anamorph: H. yallundae syn. P. h. var. herpotrichoides). Pch1 located on chromosome 7DL is the most important and most effective resistance gene, but its use in practical breeding is
limited because of difficulties in phenotyping and the fact that markers like XustSSR2001-7DL are often population-specific in German wheat cultivars. Therefore, based on results obtained for endopeptidase Ep-D1a, which
is very closely linked to Pch1, molecular markers located in the terminal region of chromosome 7DL were analysed in three DH (double haploid) populations.
In a next step these molecular markers were validated on a set of German winter wheat cultivars to obtain information on their
usefulness for marker assisted selection (MAS). Based on the analysis of 127 DH-lines, linkage to Pch1 (Ep-D1) was obtained for Xorw1, Xorw5, Xorw6, Xcfd175, Xbarc76, Xwmc14, and Xcfa2040. Analyses of 104 German winter wheat cultivars showed that Xorw1, Xorw6 and the SSR Xcfd175 of these markers are well suited for MAS in German wheat breeding. 相似文献

High-pressure Raman, infrared, x-ray, and neutron studies show that H2 and H2O mixtures crystallize into the sII clathrate structure with an approximate H2/H2O molar ratio of 1:2. The clathrate cages are multiply occupied, with a cluster of two H2 molecules in the small cage and four in the large cage. Substantial softening and splitting of hydrogen vibrons indicate increased intermolecular interactions. The quenched clathrate is stable up to 145 kelvin at ambient pressure. Retention of hydrogen at such high temperatures could help its condensation in planetary nebulae and may play a key role in the evolution of icy bodies. 相似文献
