The aim of this study was to investigate the characteristics and oxidative stability of chitosan-glutathione conjugate (CS-GSH) and CS-GSH nanoparticles (CS-GSH NPs) to explore the potentials of these nanoparticle systems for GSH delivery. CS-GSH was synthesized using a radical polymerization method, and CS-GSH NP was prepared by ionic gelation of CS-GSH with sodium tripolyphosphate (TPP). The sizes of CS-GSH NPs significantly increased with increasing CS-GSH concentration and CS-GSH/TPP ratio. The entrapment efficiency (EE) significantly increased with increasing CS-GSH concentration and significantly decreased with increasing CS-GSH/TPP ratio. The immobilized GSH could be protected against oxidation compared to free GSH. The thiol content in the nanoencapsulated GSH was more effectively maintained than those in free GSH and CS-GSH, regardless of the presence of oxidative stress-inducing agents. These results suggest that CS-GSH NP can be used to enhance the oxidative stability of GSH.  相似文献

Two horses with deposits of lymphosarcoma, one in the spleen, the other in the mediastinum, several lymph nodes and kidneys, lost weight rapidly and became depressed and weak. They were hypercalcaemic and post mortem examination revealed extensive calcification of the heart and major vessels. There was no evidence of bone marrow metastases in the one horse whose marrow was examined, and the thyroid and parathyroid glands of both horses were grossly normal.  相似文献

Microglia are evenly distributed throughout the brain parenchyma. They respond rapidly to a variety of alterations in the microenvironment of the brain and act as sensors for pathological events in the brain. In the present study, we investigated the age-dependent changes in the immunoreactivity and protein level of ionized calcium-binding adapter molecule 1 (Iba-1), a microglial marker, in the CA1 region of the gerbil hippocampus. Iba-1 immunoreactive microglia were detected in the hippocampal CA1 region of the postnatal month 1 (PM 1) group. Iba-1 positive microglia were morphologically inactive between the PM 1 and PM 12 stages. Some Iba-1 immunoreactive microglia were present in the active form in the hippocampal CA1 region of the PM 18 and PM 24 groups. The Iba-1 protein levels in hippocampal CA1 homogenates were decreased in the PM 1 through PM 6 groups and increased in an age-dependent manner thereafter. These results suggest that Iba-1 immunoreactive microglia in the active form were detected in the hippocampal CA1 region in the PM 18 and PM 24 groups. This result may be associated with an age-dependent susceptibility to neurodegenerative diseases associated with the hippocampus.  相似文献

The aim of this investigation was to find a proper harvesting period and establishing fern number, which effects the spear yield, bioactive compounds and antioxidant activities of Asparagus officinalis L. Spears were harvested at 2, 4, and 6 weeks after sprouting. Control for comparison was used without harvest. Spears and total yield increased with prolonged spear harvest period. In harvest of 6 weeks long optimum spear yield was the highest and fern numbers were 5?~?8. Bioactive compounds (polyphenols, flavonoids, flavanols, tannins and ascorbic acid) and the levels of antioxidant activities by ferric-reducing/antioxidant power (FRAP) and cupric reducing antioxidant capacity (CUPRAC) assays in asparagus ethanol extracts significantly differed in the investigated samples and were the highest at 6 weeks harvest period (P?<?0.05). The first and the second segments from the tip significantly increased with the increase of catalase (CAT). It was interesting to investigate in vitro how human serum albumin (HSA) interacts with polyphenols extracted from investigated vegetables. Therefore the functional properties of asparagus were studied by the interaction of polyphenol ethanol extracts with HSA, using 3D- FL. In conclusion, antioxidant status (bioactive compounds, binding and antioxidant activities) improved with the harvesting period and the first segment from spear tip. Appropriate harvesting is effective for higher asparagus yield and its bioactivity.  相似文献

Two different sets of polyamide 66(PA66)-based composite films containing 2.0-10.0 wt% acid-treated multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) were manufactured by solution mixing and casting method in the presence or absence of a nonionic surfactant. For the improved dispersion and interfacial interaction of MWCNTs in the PA66 matrix, carboxylic acid-functionalized MWCNTs were prepared by the acid-treatment of pristine MWCNTs. The uniform dispersion of the acidtreated MWCNTs in the PA66 matrix was confirmed from FE-SEM images of the fractured composite film surfaces. DSC thermograms supported that the acid-treated MWCNTs served as nucleating agents for the melt-crystallization of PA66 in both composite films prepared with/without the addition of the surfactant. The electrical and tensile mechanical properties of the composite films prepared with the surfactant were ~20 % higher than those of the composite films manufactured without the surfactant. For both composite films, sheet resistivity and tensile mechanical properties were found to be highly decreased and increased, respectively, with the increment of the acid-treated MWCNT content.  相似文献

Poly(trimethylene terephthalate-co-trimethylene 2,6-naphthalate)s (P(TT-co-TN)s) with various copolymer composition were synthesized, and their chain structure, thermal property and crystalline structure were investigated by using1H-NMR spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and wide-angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD), respectively. It was found from sequence analysis that all the P(TT-co-TN) copolymers synthesized have a statistical random distribution of TT and TN units. It was also observed from DSC thermograms that the glass transition temperature increases linearly with increasing the TN comonomer content, whereas the melting temperature of copolymer decreases with increasing the corresponding comonomer content in respective PTT- and PTN-based copolymer, showing pseudo-eutectic melting behavior. All the samples melt-crystallized isothermally except for P(TT-co-66 mol % TN) exhibit multiple melting endotherms and clear X-ray diffraction patterns. The multiple melting behavior originates from the dual lamellar population and/or the melting-recrystallization-remelting. The X-ray diffraction patterns are largely divided into two classes depending on the copolymer composition, i.e., PTT and PTNβ-form diffraction patterns, without exhibiting cocrystallization.  相似文献

Radix notoginseng, the root of Panax notoginseng (Burk.) F. H. Chen, has been widely used in traditional Chinese medicine. Its main components, saponins, have been reported to have many pharmacological activities. To test the general assumption that herbs of a single species planted and harvested from a single location are uniform in chemical and genetic makeup, chemical analysis and DNA fingerprinting were carried out. High-performance TLC together with HPLC analysis were used to analyze 17 randomly sampled 3-year-old roots from a single farm for the presence of six saponins. Five roots showed distinct chemical profiles with changed ratios of ginsenosides Rd/Rg1, Re/Rg1, or Rb1/Rg1. The same samples, together with some 1- and 2-year-old samples, were also subjected to fluorescent amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) analysis, and their internal transcribed spacer 2 (ITS 2) regions were sequenced. Fluorescent AFLP analysis was found to be much more polymorphic than the ITS 2 sequence and showed clear evidence of genetic diversity within the tested population. In conclusion, genetic diversity and variation of saponin contents between individual P. notoginseng roots have been detected. We suggest that genetic diversity affects the contents of the six saponins. The saponin contents variation and genetic diversity were also found among P. notoginseng root samples collected from China and Singapore markets. Since variable saponin contents may affect therapeutic efficacy, combining the use of genetic profiling with chemical profiling will help ensure greater uniformity in the quality of P. notoginseng roots. The genetic and chemical diversity within a population also provides the opportunity for breeding new cultivars with more desirable chemical constituents.  相似文献

Due to the lack of large cross-section wood, the concern regarding the utilization of small-diameter logs from forest thinning has increased as a worldwide issue recently. Round shape is advantageous to efficient use of small-diameter logs, there is a difficulty of drying and preservative treatment. It is necessary to apply a new technique. In this study, center-boring technology was applied to improve the efficiency of manufacturing. The effect of a hole was not expected to make a significant effect on the flexural performance because the hole is located at the centroid of beam under bending moment. Unlike a round timber beam, the failure of center-bored round timber beam starts with a crack and is followed by a longitudinal split. When designing center-bored round timber as guardrail beam, additional strength reduction by flattening should be considered.  相似文献

Bacillus (B.) anthracis, the etiological agent of anthrax, is one of the most genetically monomorphic bacteria species in the world. Due to the very limited genetic diversity of this species, classification of isolates of this bacterium requires methods with high discriminatory power. Single nucleotide repeat (SNR) analysis is a type of variable-number tandem repeat assay that evaluates regions with very high mutation rates. To subtype a collection of 21 isolates that were obtained during a B. anthracis outbreak in Korea, we analyzed four SNR marker loci using nucleotide sequencing analysis. These isolates were obtained from soil samples and the Korean Center for Disease Control and Prevention. The SNR analysis was able to detect 13 subgenotypes, which allowed a detailed evaluation of the Korean isolates. Our study demonstrated that the SNR analysis was able to discriminate between strains with the same multiple-locus variable-number tandem repeat analysis genotypes. In summary, we obtained SNR results for four SNR marker loci of newly acquired strains from Korea. Our findings will be helpful for creating marker systems and help identify markers that could be used for future forensic studies.  相似文献
