A one‐year‐old intact male German shepherd dog was referred with a 3‐month history of dysuria and pollakiuria. Physical examination revealed a large firm mass in the caudal abdomen. Findings from survey radiography, negative contrast cystography, computed tomographic (CT) retrograde positive contrast cystography, and CT excretory urography were consistent with a large urinary bladder diverticulum. An exploratory laparotomy revealed a normal wall appearance in the ventral compartment (true bladder) and marked thinning of the wall in the dorsal compartment (diverticulum). Both ureters inserted into the ventral compartment. The dorsal compartment was excised and histopathology confirmed the diagnosis of urinary bladder diverticulum.  相似文献

Sediment transport in the Ribera Salada stream was estimated from continuous suspended and bedload monitoring between 2005 and 2008. The Ribera Salada basin is a mountainous perennial river in the Southern Pyrenees and is representative of the extensive forestry land use in this upland region. Water and sediment fluxes have been analysed with the aim of determining the thresholds, duration, ranges and relative contributions of the two sediment transport modes (suspended and bedload), and their variability in relation to the basin's annual hydrology. The stream's hydrology in the first two sampling years was average in the context of a 10-yr series of the basin, while 2007–2008 can be classified as a wet year. The specific total sediment load during the study period amounted to 12 t km2y1, a low value compared with similar Mediterranean counterparts. The maximum load (31.5 t km2y1) was observed during the wettest year of the monitoring programme. During average years most of the total load (> 90%) was transported in suspension; consequently, suspended sediment transport is more frequent through time. In contrast, bedload occurs sporadically during floods that exceed certain hydraulic thresholds, corresponding to a flow equalled or exceeded 4% of the time, that yields an average shear stress of ∼ 35 N m2. Under such conditions bedload transport becomes relevant and, if the threshold is frequently exceeded as in relatively wet years such as 2007–2008, may constitute the majority of the total sediment load (74%). This paper provides new evidence of the distinct role of sediment transport modes in stable fluvial environments where only sporadic inputs of surplus energy (flow discharge) determine the dominant mode, magnitude and duration of their respective contribution.  相似文献

Phosphonic acid (phosphorous acid), H — PO(OH)2, the active breakdown product in plant tissues of the systemic anti-oomycete fungicide fosetyl-aluminium was investigated in order to assay the stability of the labelled compound. There is a strong and fast isotopic exchange in unbuffered aqueous solutions of 2H — PO(OH)2, and therefore 3H — PO(OH)2, so that Fenn and Coffey's experiments must be reinterpreted because these authors used a stock solution of pure labelled phosphonic acid. However, it is possible to use this last compound for biological experiments under the following conditions: (1) Keeping the dry sodium salt 3H — PO(ONa)2. 5H2O in small flasks (100 mg, 37 MBq each) in a vacuum desiccator for individual use without fractionation; (2) using the compound at neutral or slightly acidic pH.  相似文献

Substitution of marine ingredients (FM‐FO) by plant protein and oil sources can modify selenium (Se) levels in feeds. Se plays an important role in the antioxidative defence by forming part of selenoproteins. Se requirements of gilthead sea bream are not accurately determined; therefore, this study was conducted to define Se supplementation levels in low FM‐FO practical diets for sea bream fingerlings. A plant‐based diet containing 0.45 mg Se/kg diet was used as the basal diet. Four other diets were supplemented to contain 0.68, 0.86, 1.00 or 1.70 mg Se/kg diet, supplied as sodium selenite. Sea bream, weighing 12.6 ± 1.4 g, were distributed in triplicate groups per diet and fed for 42 days. Se supplementation up to 1.00 mg Se/kg significantly improved the growth of sea bream, whereas further increase up to 1.70 mg Se/kg diet reduced growth. The results of this study suggest that the optimum dietary levels of sodium selenite in diets with low FM‐FO with basal levels of 0.45 mg Se/kg are around 0.94 mg Se/kg to promote growth of gilthead sea bream juveniles. On the contrary, dietary levels of 1.70 mg Se/kg were found to be excessive and caused growth reduction, increased catalase expression and hydropic degeneration in the liver.  相似文献

The finite element method was used to analyse the cutting process of a sandy loam soil with medium-deep subsoiler, used as a compaction sensor, aiming to calculate the subsoiler draught for various combinations of dry bulk density, moisture content and tillage depth. The finite element results showed that draught increased with depth and dry bulk density, whereas it decreased with moisture content. A multiple linear regression analysis was performed to establish a formula for relating subsoiler draught (dependent variable) with the three independent variables. The regression equation developed was simple and had a high determination coefficient close to 0.95. An equation for prediction of dry bulk density as a function of moisture content, depth and draught was derived from the regression equation developed. This equation was used to calculate dry bulk density, for measured depth, moisture content and draught at nine different points along a single line in a meadow field of a silty clay loam soil. The predicted dry bulk density indicated that there was a considerable variation in the degree of compaction throughout the measured line. However, the on-line depth control and measurement of moisture content still need to be integrated with the on-line measurement of draught, to govern the model suitability for performing on-line detection of the spatial distribution of soil compaction, assessed as dry bulk density.  相似文献

Postmortem biochemical and microbiological changes in loricariid catfish (Pterygoplichthys disjunctivus) muscle were evaluated during ice storage for 20 days. Values of pH remained stable for 15 days (7.4 ± 0.2), and total volatile base-nitrogen (TVB-N) remained under acceptable limits throughout storage, with a final value of 25.2 ± 3.3 mg N/100 g muscle at Day 20. Adenosine-5´-triphosphate (ATP) and derivatives followed a postmortem degradation pattern similar to other species, with the K-value being the best freshness loss indicator. Biochemical and microbiological changes indicated that the shelf life of iced loricariid catfish muscle was 15 days under optimal (0°C) storage conditions.  相似文献

Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) with a mean (sd) weight of 120 (2) g were fed diets supplemented with astaxanthin extracted from the yeast Phaffia rhodozyma (OY1 = 50 mg carotenoids kg–1 feed, OY2 = 100 mg carotenoids kg–1 feed), astaxanthin (AX = 100 mg astaxanthin kg–1 feed) and canthaxanthin (CX = 100 mg canthaxanthin kg–1 feed) for 4 weeks. Muscle analyses at the end of the experiment indicated a significantly higher carotenoid concentration in the AX group, while CX and OY1 groups were similar in spite of the differences in dietary concentration. The measure of total muscle colour difference (E* ab) between initial samples and 4 week ones was higher for the AX fish group but showed no significant difference between OY1, OY2, and CX. The hue and the reflectance ratio (R650:R510) of fish muscle increased in proportion to carotenoid intake. Digestibility (ADC) of yeast astaxanthin in OY1 and OY2 groups was significantly higher than that in the AX group. Canthaxanthin ADC was about one sixth of that of astaxanthin (AX group). Carotenoid retention in the muscle, expressed as a percentage of carotenoid intake, was higher for the AX group than that recorded for OY1 and OY2. According to ADC, carotenoid retention showed a marked lower value for the CX group. Muscle retentions were similar for astaxanthins from both sources.  相似文献

Soil compaction is recognized as an increasingly challenging problem for the agricultural, horticultural and forest production in many climatic regions. The Proctor test provides a standardized method to study compactibility of disturbed soils over a range of soil water contents. The objectives of our study were: (a) to determine values of the critical water content for compaction and maximum bulk density from Proctor compaction curves for soils different in their properties; (b) to study the correlation between the maximum bulk density and readily available soil properties. Thirty soil samples were taken from six different locations in Argentina between 58 and 64°W and 34 and 38°S. The degree of saturation at maximum bulk density varied from 73.2 to 96.8%. Comparison of our data with data of two studies in USA showed that relationships between the maximum bulk density and the critical water content were similar to these studies. However, the slope of the relationship between the maximum bulk density and the organic carbon content was 50% less in our study as compared with the two others. The maximum bulk density was highly correlated with the organic carbon content and the silt content, the determination coefficient of the multiple linear regression, r2, was 0.88.  相似文献
