One hundred ninety four accessions of barnyard millet collected from different eco-geographical regions of India were evaluated for 14 quantitative traits during kharif 2003 and 2005. These accessions were grouped into 5 groups on the basis of place of collection. These groups differed significantly in their mean values for quantitative traits and magnitude of correlation among traits indicates origin based association. The group ‘C’ (source of origin is unknown) was found most diverse group (mean coefficient of variation 17.67%), while rest of the groups recorded mean coefficient of variation between 12 and 13%. Correlation studies indicate that flag leaf width, number of racemes along with internode length should be considered while performing selection in segregating generations. The plotting of first and second principal component axes scores suggests that presence of three distinct morphotypes in the present study. These morphotypes are quite similar to three botanical varieties viz., var. robusta, var. intermedia and var. stolonifera in their morphological traits, while botanical variety laxa (endemic to Sikkim area of India) was completely absent from the present study.  相似文献

Asian ginseng (Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer) is widely used as an Oriental medicine in the East Asian regions, particularly Korea and China. In the study, the strontium isotope ratios ((87)Sr/(86)Sr), multielements, and metabolite profiles of 35 ginseng samples collected from Korea and China were examined in an attempt to develop a method to distinguish the origin of ginsengs from the two countries. A multivariate statistical approach was performed to analyze the multielements and the (1)H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) data. Results of a t-test for Mg, Fe, Al, and Sc showed significant variation between Korean and Chinese ginsengs, indicating potential tracers for discriminating them. Discriminating between the ginsengs from the two countries was generally successful when both the (87)Sr/(86)Sr ratios and rare earth element (REE) contents were used together. Moreover, principal component analysis (PCA) derived from the (1)H NMR data revealed a significant separation between the ginsengs originating from the two countries. The major metabolites responsible for differentiation were sugars such as glucose, xylose, and sucrose. The results suggest that this multiplatform approach offers a comprehensive method to distinguish the origin of ginsengs.  相似文献

The present study was conducted in tropical Sal forest ecosystem of the Doon valley in the Indian Himalayas to assess the critical load of sulfur and nitrogen and their exceedances. The observed pattern of throughfall ionic composition in the study are Ca2+>K+>Mg2+>Cl?>?HCO3?>?Na+>NO 3 ? >?SO 3 2? ???NH 4 + >F?. The sum of cation studied is 412.29 ??eq l?1 and that of anions is 196.98 ??eq l?1, showing cation excess of 215.31 ??eq l?1. The cations, namely Ca2+, Mg2+, K+, Na+, and NH 4 + , made a contribution of about 67% of the total ion strength, where as anion comprising of SO 4 2? , Cl?, NO 3 ? , and HCO 3 ? contributed 33%. The chief acidic components were Cl?C (12%) and HCO 3 ? (8%), while the presence of SO 4 2? (5%) and NO 3 ? (6%), respectively. Percentage contribution of bole to total aboveground biomass was ??72.38% in comparison to 2.24?C2.93% of leaf biomass, 10.34?C10.96% of branch biomass and 13.21?C17.07% of bark biomass. There was high and significant variation (P?<?0.001) in the total aboveground biomass produced at different sites. The aboveground net primary productivity (ANPP) in these sites ranged between 2.09 and 9.22 t ha?1 year?1. The base cations and nitrogen immobilization was found to be maximum in bole. The net annual uptake of the base cations varied from 306.85 to 1,311.46 eq ha?1 year?1 and of nitrogen from 68.27 to 263.51 eq ha?1 year?1. The critical appraisal of soil showed that cation exchange capacity lied between 18.37 and 10.30 Cmol (p+) kg?1. The base saturation percentage of soil was as high as 82.43% in Senkot, whereas in Kalusidh it was just 44.28%. The local temperature corrected base cation weathering rates based on soil mineralogy, parent material class, and texture class varied from 484.15 to 627.25 eq ha?1 year?1, showing a weak potentiality of the system to buffer any incoming acidity and thus providing restricted acid neutralizing capacity to keep the ecosystem stable under increased future deposition scenarios in near future. The appreciable BS of the soil indicates the presence of intense nutrient phytorecycling forces within this climate and atmospheric deposition in replenishing base cations in the soil, which includes intrinsic soil-forming processes, i.e., weathering. The highest value of critical load for acidity was 2,896.50 eq ha?1 year?1 and the lowest was 2,792.45 eq ha?1 year?1. The calculated value of the minimum critical loads for nitrogen varied from 69.77 to 265.01 eq ha?1 year?1, whereas the maximum nitrogen critical load ranged between 2,992.63 and 4,394.45 eq ha?1 year?1. The minimum and the maximum critical loads of sulfur ranged between 2,130.49 and 3,261.64 eq ha?1 year?1 and 2,250.58 and 3,381.73 eq ha?1 year?1, respectively. The values of exceedance of sulfur and nitrogen were negative, implying that in the current scenario Sal forests of the Doon valley are well protected from acidification.  相似文献

Inhibition of ERK/MAPK pathway has been shown to decrease DNA methylation via down‐regulation of DNA methyltransferases (DNMTs) in several studies suggesting that this pathway plays an important role in regulation of DNA methylation. We examined the relative expression level of seven important genes related to ERK/MAPK pathway and DNMTs (DNMT1, DNMT3a and DNMT3b) by quantitative real‐time PCR in buffalo blastocysts produced by Hand‐made cloning and compared it with that in blastocyst‐stage embryos produced by in vitro fertilization (IVF). The expression level of six of seven genes related to ERK/MAPK pathway examined i.e., p21RAS, RAF1, AKT1, ERK2, PIK3R2 and c‐Myc was significantly higher (p < 0.05) in cloned than in IVF embryos. However, the expression level of FOS was lower (p < 0.005) in cloned than in IVF embryos. The relative expression level of DNMT3a and DNMT3b but not that of DNMT1 was significantly higher (p < 0.05) in cloned than in IVF embryos. These results indicate that the cloned embryos exhibit an abnormal expression of several important genes related to ERK/MAPK pathway and DNMTs. Although a direct link between ERK/MAPK pathway and DNMTs was not examined in the present study, it can be speculated that ERK/MAPK pathway may have a role in regulating the expression of DNMTs in embryos, as also observed in other tissues.  相似文献

Parents and 318 F8 recombinant inbred lines (RILs) derived from the cross, TAG 24 × ICGV 86031 were evaluated for peanut bud necrosis disease (PBND) resistance and agronomic traits under natural infestation of thrips at a disease hotspot location for 2 years. Significant genotype, environment and genotype × environment interaction effects suggested role of environment in development and spread of the disease. Quantitative trait loci (QTL) analysis using QTL Cartographer identified a total of 14 QTL for six traits of which five QTL were for disease incidence. One quantitative trait locus q60DI located on LG_AhII was identified using both QTL Cartographer and QTL Network. Another QTL q90DI was detected with a high PVE of 12.57 using QTL Cartographer. A total of nine significant additive × additive (AA) interactions were detected for PBND disease incidence and yield traits with two and seven interactions displaying effects in favour of the parental and recombinant genotype combinations, respectively. This is the first attempt on QTL discovery associated with PBND resistance in peanut. Superior RILs identified in the study can be recycled or released as variety following further evaluations.  相似文献

Information sources for bioconcentration factors (BCFs) from the existing technical literature include models based on K ow and/or regulatory agency guidance from agencies such as USEPA. Since magnitude assignments of BCFs influence the degree of conservativeness implicit in risk assessments, the BCF magnitudes for a contaminated site in Ontario, Canada, were assessed from field measurements for dioxins and furans from soil to vegetation and are compared with BCFs from the literature. It is demonstrated that observed BCFs for dioxins and furans from the field study are generally much higher (3 to 575 times for 15 compounds and 2,770 times for Octa CDF) than those computed by the USEPA method and are higher by a factor of 3 to 650 (for eight compounds) computed by the K ow model. These findings indicate that use of model-based BCFs may result in underestimation of the risk or hazard.  相似文献

Foliar fungal diseases(rust and late leaf spot)incur large yield losses,in addition to the deterioration of fodder quality in groundnut worldwide.High oleic acid has emerged as a key market trait in groundnut,as it increases the shelf life of the produce/products in addition to providing health benefits to consumers.Marker-assisted backcrossing(MABC)is the most successful approach to introgressing or pyramiding one or more traits using traitlinked markers.We used MABC to improve three popular Indian cultivars(GJG 9,GG 20,and GJGHPS 1)for foliar disease resistance(FDR)and high oleic acid content.A total of 22 BC3F4 and 30 BC2F4 introgression lines(ILs)for FDR and 46 BC3F4 and 41 BC2F4 ILs for high oleic acid were developed.Recurrent parent genome analysis using the 58 K Axiom_Arachis array identified several lines showing upto 94%of genome recovery among second and third backcross progenies.Phenotyping of these ILs revealed FDR scores comparable to the resistant parent,GPBD 4,and ILs with high(~80%)oleic acid in addition to high genome recovery.These ILs provide further opportunities for pyramiding FDR and high oleic acid in all three genetic backgrounds as well as for conducting multi-location yield trials for further evaluation and release for cultivation in target regions of India.  相似文献

Three cell lines of groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L), an important oilseed legume, were selected on glyphosate using in-vitro culture techniques. The cell lines isolated through single as well as stepwise selection procedures showed c 20-fold increase in glyphosate tolerance as compared to the unselected control cell line. Studies on the biochemical mechanism of glyphosate tolerance in these cell lines showed a significant increase in the total extractable activity of the target enzyme, 5-enolpyruvyl shikimate-3-phosphate (EPSP) synthase (EC 2.5.1.19), which was further confirmed with immunological data. The over-expressed EPSP synthase activity was, however, subject to inhibition by glyphosate in vitro. Two other key regulated enzymes of the shikimic acid pathway, 3-deoxy-D -arabino heptulosonate 7-phosphate (DAHP) synthase (EC 4.1.2.15) and chorismate mutase (CM) (EC 5.4.99.5) did not show any change in specific activity in the selected cell lines. The enhanced activity of EPSP synthase in the tolerant cell lines was found to be stably inherited in the absence of selection pressure. © 1999 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献
