Interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma) detection assay is being applied as an ancillary test to tuberculin tests in the diagnosis of bovine tuberculosis to detect the maximum number of infected animals. Among possible factors influencing the performance of tuberculosis-diagnostic tests, paratuberculosis, a widespread disease in Spain and other European countries, has been pointed out as a cause of false positive reactions. Still, its effect on the sensitivity of these tests in cattle has yet to be fully characterized. The impact of paratuberculosis in the apparent sensitivity of IFN-gamma assay was studied in a bullfighting cattle herd with a mixed tuberculosis-paratuberculosis infection, using culture of Mycobacterium bovis and Mycobacterium avium paratuberculosis as the gold standard to determine the infection status of every animal. A total of 218 animals were slaughtered and sampled for bacteriology after blood sampling. IFN-gamma assay showed a lower apparent sensitivity in animals with a mixed infection (50%) compared to all animals suffering tuberculosis (78.3%). This finding indicates that the presence of paratuberculosis in tuberculosis-infected herds could imply a serious impairment in the sensitivity of IFN-gamma detection test. 相似文献

为了研究日粮的蛋白质和纤维水平对仔猪生产性能和健康状况的互作,特选择96头35日龄的仔猪(体重为9.11±0.60kg),分32个栏饲养,每栏3头,分成4个日粮处理组,饲喂期21d。在设定的2×2因子处理中,4种日粮以大米、奶制品和大豆粕为基础配制,日粮蛋白质设两个水平(15.4%与19.4%,风干基),纤维也设两个水平[低水平纤维(LF)为含5.3%中性洗涤纤维,高水平纤维(HF)为含7.15%中性洗涤纤维,风干基]。高水平纤维日粮组在基础日粮中添加了40g/kg的小麦麸和20g/kg的甜菜浆。每周测定动物生产性能,试验第1天和最后一天收集粪样进行微生物学分析,并且按1(液态)到4(硬实)的评分体系对粪便进行评分。在试验最后1d,每栏选1头猪采集血液,分析急性期反应蛋白(acute-phase protein)和主要急性期反应蛋白(major acute-phase prot)(即Pig-MAP)的含量,随后进行屠宰,对消化道(包括内容物)进行称重,并进行结肠组织学分析。饲喂高水平纤维日粮的仔猪具有较大的平均日增重(390g与457g,P≤0.001)和大肠重量(以占体重比例衡量为4.4%与5.4%,P≤0.05)。这与较高的短链脂肪酸浓度(尤其是乙酸和丁酸)、较少的大肠杆菌数量(每克粪便含7.77与6.86logcfu,P≤0.05)和较高乳酸杆菌与肠道细菌比(0.76与1.37,P≤0.05)是相符的。虽然日粮蛋白质水平没有改变猪的生产性能,但是20%的蛋白质水平提高(P≤0.05)了小肠(6.5与7.7)和大肠(3.8与4.3)的相对重量(占体重的百分比)。在大肠内,含20%蛋白质的日粮使仔猪杯状细胞数量增加(4.6/100与5.4/100μm;P≤0.05),并使肠上皮内淋巴细胞数量减少(1.8/100与1.3/100μm;P≤0.05)。在健康状况方面,提高日粮纤维水平所产生的效果与日粮中的蛋白质含量有关。在含16%蛋白质的日粮中增加纤维水平可降低粪便评分值、增加抗生素治疗次数,然而在? 相似文献

This report describes a rare case of congenital oligodontia of the deciduous teeth and anodontia of the permanent teeth in a cat. According to cat's veterinarian, the patient had only two deciduous upper canines and no permanent teeth had ever erupted. Post-mortem evaluation showed a complete absence of teeth in the oral cavity and inflammatory lesions were not found on the gums. Histopathological analysis of serial sections of maxilla and mandible revealed absence of odontogenic epithelium, inflammatory cells and odontoclastic resorptive lesions. Diagnosis was confirmed after both the establishment that there were no remaining dental structures and the exclusion of other relevant diseases that lead to tooth loss, such as periodontal disease, renal fibrous osteodystrophy, odontoclastic resorptive lesions, ectodermal dysplasia and trauma. 相似文献

The effect of roasting on some nutritional characteristics of hazelnut lipidic fraction was investigated. Hazelnuts (Corylus avellana L.) were submitted to several different thermal treatments, comprising different temperatures (125-200 degrees C) and times of exposure (5, 15, and 30 min) and analyzed for their moisture and crude fat. Raw and roasted hazelnuts were also analyzed for their compositions in phytosterols and fatty acids (including trans isomers) by GC-FID, triacylglycerols by HPLC-ELSD, and tocopherols and tocotrienols by HPLC-DAD/fluorescence spectroscopy. Minor changes occurred in the fatty acid and triacylglycerol compositions. As temperatures and roasting periods increased, generally, a modest increase of oleic and saturated fatty acids and a decrease of linoleic acid, expressed as relative percentages, occurred. Similarly, an increase of triacylglycerols containing oleic acid moieties and a decrease of those containing linoleic acid moieties were found in the roasted samples. Roasting caused a modest decrease of the beneficial phytosterols (maximum 14.4%) and vitamin E homologues (maximum 10.0%) and a negligible increase of the trans fatty acids. 相似文献

Complex agroforestry systems that mimic local forest structure, so-called ‘analogs’, are assumed to be of specific value to
rural people as well as the environment. The objective of this study was to document and evaluate the utilization of plant
resources by Philippine lowland farmers to identify native species suitable for integration in such a system. The interviewed
farmers maintain a comprehensive ethnobotanical knowledge. They reported using 122 plant species for 77 purposes. Eighty species
have medicinal value, 35 provide food, and 32 serve other uses. About 64% of the identified species are Philippine natives.
The life form composition of these species is dominated by trees but also includes herbs, lianas, and graminoids, thus providing
the structural elements required in analog systems. Nevertheless, only a few of the species seem to be promising for cultivation.
Many of them are ubiquitous in the vicinity of villages. Some species are also not much appreciated but act as staple food
only during food shortage. Even though several of the species have proven market value, such as rattan (e.g. Calamus
merrillii), or are reputed medicines, such as ‘Philippine ginseng’ (Sarcandra glabra), no cultivation could be observed. This shows that usefulness in itself cannot be the only criterion to promote species
but that it requires a careful analysis of the marketability of the respective species. In this context we suggest the following
three species that are of proven medicinal value for in-depth study: the liana Tinospora crispa (Menispermaceae), the tree Picrasma javanica (Simaroubaceae), and the herb Sarcandra glabra (Chloranthaceae). ABSTRACTThe effects of different egg white protein coatings on Atlantic salmon quality preservation after 4 months of frozen storage were evaluated. These coatings increased the yield of the fillets and protected them from lipid oxidation, providing better protection than glazing. Egg white protein coatings were better options than glazing to preserve salmon color during frozen storage. The best results were obtained with the application of coatings before freezing. No clear effects of the type and concentration of plasticizer in most quality parameters were found. Cryopreservation of selected genotypes of European chestnut and cork oak was carried out in two laboratories in a project
involving conservation of field collections. Plant material was selected on the basis of disease resistance (chestnut), growth
habit, phytosanitary performance and cork quality (cork oak). The cryopreservation technique comprised of vitrification of
shoot apices isolated from in vitro stock shoot cultures (chestnut) and somatic embryos (cork oak). Forty-three out of 46
chestnut genotypes assayed survived the freezing process, but only 63% recovered their capacity to produce new shoots. After
completion of multiplication and rooting steps, the surviving shoots produced plants that were morphologically identical to
those derived from non-supercooled material. All 51 cork oak genotypes withstood freezing and were able to produce new somatic
embryos through a process of secondary embryogenesis. Multiplication and germination of the recovered embryos enabled production
of plants that were morphologically identical to those derived from non-supercooled material. In light of the results obtained,
long-term cryopreservation of these species is feasible, thereby ensuring conservation of valuable genotypes during field

Almond ( Prunus dulcis ) has been widely used in all sorts of food products (bakery, pastry, snacks), mostly due to its pleasant flavor and health benefits. However, it is also classified as a potential allergenic seed known to be responsible for triggering several mild to life-threatening immune reactions in sensitized and allergic individuals. Presently, eight groups of allergenic proteins have been identified and characterized in almond, namely, PR-10 (Pru du 1), TLP (Pru du 2), prolamins (Pru du 2S albumin, Pru du 3), profilins (Pru du 4), 60sRP (Pru du 5), and cupin (Pru du 6, Pru du γ-conglutin), although only a few of them have been tested for reactivity with almond-allergic sera. To protect sensitized individuals, labeling regulations have been implemented for foods containing potential allergenic ingredients, impelling the development of adequate analytical methods.
