Improved water management and efficient investment in the modernization of irrigation schemes are essential measures in many countries to satisfy the increasing demand for water. Automatic control of the main canals is one method for increasing the efficiency and flexibility of irrigation systems. In 2005, one canal in the irrigation scheme ‘Sector B-XII del Bajo Guadalquivir’ was monitored. This canal is representative of irrigation schemes in Southern Spain; it is divided into four pools and supplies an area of 5154 ha. Ultrasonic sensors and pressure transducers were used to record the gate opening and water levels at the upstream and downstream ends of each canal pool. Using the recorded data and the SIC (Simulation of Irrigation Canals) hydraulic model, two canal control options (local upstream control and distant downstream control) were evaluated using a PI (Proportional-Integral) control algorithm. First, the SIC model was calibrated and validated under steady-state conditions. Then the proportional and integral gains of the PI algorithm were calibrated. The controllers were tested using theoretical demand changes (constant outflow followed by a sudden demand increase or decrease) and real demand changes generated on the basis of a spatially distributed crop water balance that included a number of sources of variability (random and not random) in the determination of field irrigation timing and depth. The results obtained show that only the distant downstream controller was able to adjust quickly and automatically the canal dynamics to the varying water demands; it achieved this efficiently and with few spills at the canal tail, even when there were sudden and significant flow variations.  相似文献

Farmed turbot and sole were sampled at different stages of the production cycle for analysis of fillet lipid content and fatty acid (FA) composition. The entire data set along with our own published data on gilthead sea bream were fitted to dummy regression equations with turbot and sole as dummy variables, gilthead sea bream as a reference subgroup category, and diet FA composition and fillet lipid content as independent variables. The relative contribution of each independent variable to the total variance was found to vary within and among FAs and fish species, but strong correlation coefficients (0.76 <  r> 0.99) were found for almost all of the FA equations, including saturated FAs, monoenes and long‐chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) of n‐3 and n‐6 series. Given the differences in lipogenic activities of the fish species, major interaction effects between fillet lipid content and dummy variables were found for monoenes and saturated FAs. The proposed equations (hosted at www.nutrigroup-iats.org/aquafat ) were able to fit different proportions of EPA, DPA and DHA underlying the fish species differences in FA desaturation/elongation pathways. The robustness of the model was proven with extra data from the three fish species, allowing a close linear association near to equality for the scatter plot of observed and predicted values.  相似文献

α2β1 and αIIbβ3 integrins, that support platelet adhesion to collagen and fibrinogen, respectively, share common signaling molecules. The effect of quercetin on platelet static adhesion to collagen and fibrinogen was assessed and correlated with its kinase inhibitory activity. Quercetin strongly abrogated PI3K and Src kinases, mildly inhibited Akt1/2, and slightly affected PKC, p38 and ERK1/2. Quercetin or the combined use of adenosine diphosphate and thromboxane A2 inhibitors abrogated platelet spreading on these surfaces to a similar extent. We suggest that the inhibitory effect of quercetin on platelet kinases blocks early signaling events preventing a complete platelet spreading.  相似文献

The impact of the topographical position on soil properties was evaluated in an olive grove with traditional tillage. Three topographical positions: summit, backslope and toeslope were chosen for evaluation. The soil samples were taken from four soil sections of 0·25 m (0–1 m). The soil organic carbon (SOC) and N content increased along the downslope direction (5·5, 6·5 and 7·1 g C kg−1 and 0·3, 0·8 and 0·9 g N kg−1 in the surface layer in the summit, backslope and toeslope respectively) as well as SOC and N stocks, considering the two first soil sections. In addition, there was movement of the most erodible textural fraction (silt). However, the total SOC stock (refer to 1 m of depth) did not vary with respect to the topographical position, but the total N stock (refer to 1 m of depth) varied significantly. These increases were due to erosion processes that occur along the toposequence, leading to organic matter transfers from the summit to the toeslope. All the stratification ratios calculated were lower than 2, indicating the low quality of the soils. Therefore, alternative management techniques that avoid soil erosion must be considered in olive grove in order to increase the soil quality and fertility. The complete nucleotide sequences of RNAs 1 and 2 of Rice stripe necrosis virus (RSNV) were determined and compared to the corresponding genomes of all sequenced, rod-shaped plant viruses. The genome organisation of RSNV RNA1 and RNA2 is nearly identical to that of Beet necrotic yellow vein virus (BNYVV) and Beet soil-borne mosaic virus (BSBMV), definitive species of the genus Benyvirus. As demonstrated for BNYVV and BSBMV, the RNA1 of RSNV also encodes a single ORF with putative replicase-associated motifs, which distinguishes benyviruses from all other viruses possessing rod-shaped particles. As described for BNYVV, RNSV RNA-2 also contains six ORFs: the capsid protein gene, the read-through protein gene, a triple gene block gene that codes for three different proteins, and a 17 kDa cysteine-rich protein. RNAs 3 and 4 (or 5 in the case of BNYVV), identified in natural infections of BNYVV and BSBMV, were not detected in any of the 44 RSNV cDNA clones obtained in this investigation. Nevertheless, phylogenetic and amino comparative acid sequence analyses demonstrated that RSNV is more closely related to BNYVV and BSBMV than to any other rod-shaped plant virus characterised to date.  相似文献

An enteric syndrome of turkey poults, characterized by enteritis, crop mycosis, intestinal changes (pale, thin-walled ballooning with watery contents), and rickets, occurred during 1988 in 74 turkey flocks from different farms belonging to 9 California turkey growers. The flocks ranged in size from 9,000 to 120,000 birds. Pools of intestine sections from 618 birds, representing 78 field cases, were examined. Histopathological examination of the intestines showed a mild to severe atrophy with a reduced depth of crypts, which was more prominent in the distal part of the small intestine. Viral isolation attempts with primary cell cultures of chicken embryo kidney cells were negative. Examination by electron microscopy of negatively stained intestinal specimens revealed the presence of Reoviridae particles of 58.8 to 80 nm in diameter. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay results on the intestinal pools for mammalian and group A avian rotaviruses were negative. A statistically significant relationship was found for the presence of Reoviridae particles in the intestines of 10-21-day-old birds. Of the 7 most common pathological conditions analyzed, 2, rickets and intestinal changes (thin-walled ballooning intestine with watery contents), showed a statistically significant association with the presence of Reoviridae particles.  相似文献
