Evidence of a local spawning site of marine eels along northeastern Japan, based on the distribution of small leptocephali

Evidence of recent spawning by several species of marine eels of the families Congridae, Ophichthidae, and Nettastomatidae was found over the continental shelf along the coast of northeastern Japan in October 2003. Sixty‐three leptocephali of at least three taxa that ranged from 3.8 to 12.3 mm total length were collected in a relatively small area, just to the south of Cape Shioya, primarily over the 100‐and 200‐m‐depth contours. The leptocephali of Gnathophis nystromi nystromi were the most abundant, followed by those of G. nystromi ginanago. This spawning area is located in an area that appeared to include water originating from the Tsugaru Warm Current and is further south than the typical latitude of the cold water of the Oyashio First Intrusion. These findings suggest that some species of marine eels may not migrate past the slope to spawn, and that the oceanographic features of the region may provide favorable conditions for the growth and retention of leptocephali in the area to the south of Cape Shioya.

Allelopathic potential of K21, selected as a promising allelopathic rice

The agronomic characteristics of a newly bred potent allelopathic rice, K21, including morphological appearance, resembled its female parent, Dongjinbyeo, except for 8 days' earlier heading and 9 cm shorter plant height. The water extract of K21 showed a greater inhibitory effect on the shoot and root growth of barnyardgrass than its female parent, but less than the male parent, Kouketsumochi. At the highest extract concentration of 5.0%, the inhibitory effect of K21 on the shoot growth of barnyardgrass was ≈ 64%, similar to its male parent. The dry weight of the barnyardgrass shoot was reduced by 13.0% when grown with K21 and 30.2% when grown with its male parent. There was no inhibitory effect on the shoot dry weight of barnyardgrass when grown with the female parent. The activity of cinnamic acid 4-hydroxylase in K21 was ≈ 1.8-fold higher than that of the female parent, but significantly lower than that of the male parent. The ρ-coumaric acid content in K21 was ≈ 60% higher than that of the female parent, but it was about half of the male parent. The total amount of phenolic compounds in K21 was ≈ 11.5% higher than in the female parent, but about half of the male parent. The results obtained suggest that the newly bred K21 contains desirable allelopathic traits derived from the male parent, Kouketsumochi, and acceptable agronomic traits from its female parent, Dongjinbyeo.     

3型鲤疱疹病毒白介素10单克隆抗体制备与应用

白介素（Interleukin，IL）10是 脊椎动物Th2细胞（T helper 2 cell）和先天淋巴细胞（Innate lymphoid cell）分泌的一种多效应细胞因子。3型鲤疱疹病毒（Cyprinid herpesvirus 3, CyHV3）ORF134编码IL10样蛋白，本研究构建了ORF134原核表达质粒，在大肠杆菌DE3感受态细胞中表达CyHV3-IL10重组蛋白。SDS-PAGE分析结果表明，重组CyHV3-IL10蛋白约为18 ku，主要以包涵体形式表达。将CyHV3-IL10包涵体进行变性和复性，经分子筛凝胶柱层析纯化获得了纯度较高的重组CyHV3-IL10蛋白，利用CyHV3-IL10重组蛋白免疫小鼠制备了单克隆抗体，通过酶联免疫吸附测定法（Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay，ELISA）筛选，获得了2株亲和力强的抗体，并利用激光共聚焦技术和Western blotting对抗体进行了鉴定。结果表明，FITC标记的单克隆抗体能够特异性识别HEK293细胞中表达的CyHV3-IL10重组蛋白和感染CyHV3的镜鲤脾和鳃组织中表达的CyHV3-IL10蛋白。CyHV3-IL10单克隆抗体的制备为后续研究CyHV3-IL10蛋白功能和建立CyHV3诊断方法奠定了基础，为CyHV3病毒检测试剂盒的研发提供了新思路。

作为南方重点林区，吉安林区的林林培育目标、资产运作、采伐政策、经营体制、行业管理、税费政策、林业投入等方面与市场经济的要求具有明显的滞后性和不适应性，同时也反映出林业行业的弱质性。要发展商品林业，其经营政策要作相应调整，政府应调整林业税费政策，建立生态补偿机制，理顺林业外部关系；林业系统要加快经营机制改革，规范资源流转，改革采伐政策等。
