Determination of true digestive utilization of phosphorus and the endogenous phosphorus outputs associated with soybean meal for growing pigs 总被引:9,自引:0,他引:9

The objectives of this study were to determine true P digestibility, the gastrointestinal endogenous P outputs associated with soybean meal (SBM), and the role of the large intestine in P digestion in growing pigs. Four Yorkshire barrows, with average initial and final BW of 40 and 58 kg, were fitted with a simple T-cannula at the distal ileum and fed four diets according to a 4 x 4 Latin square design. The diets were cornstarch-based and contained four levels of P (0.098, 0.196, 0.293, and 0.391% on a DM basis) from solvent-extracted conventional SBM. Chromic oxide (3.5 g/kg of diet, as-fed basis) was included as a digestibility marker. Each experimental period consisted of 8 d with a 4-d adaptation period and a 4-d collection of representative ileal digesta (2 d) and fecal (2 d) samples. True ileal and fecal P digestibility values and the ileal and fecal endogenous P outputs associated with SBM were determined by the regression analysis technique. There were no differences (P > 0.05) in true P digestibility values (ileal, 59.0 +/- 8.3 vs. fecal, 51.3 +/- 7.9%, n = 16) and endogenous P outputs (ileal, 0.59 +/- 0.18 vs. fecal, 0.45 +/- 0.21 g/kg of DMI, n = 16) between the ileal and the fecal levels. The endogenous fecal P loss accounted for 8.1 and 17.6% of the NRC (1998) recommended total and available P requirements in growing pigs, respectively. In conclusion, approximately 51% of the total P in conventional SBM is digested in growing pigs. The large intestine does not play an important role in the digestion of P associated with SBM in the growing pig. The fecal loss of the gastrointestinal endogenous P is an important route of P excretion in the growing pig. 相似文献

Plasma concentrations of oestradiol-17ß, progesterone, 15-keto–dihydro–PGF2α and luteinizing hormone (LH) were monitored in llamas and alpacas after mating with an intact male. Concentrations of LH and PGF2α metabolite were high immediately after copulation. Ovulation occurred in 92% of the animals. The first significant increases in progesterone were recorded on day 4 after mating. In non-pregnant animals the lifespan of the corpus luteum was estimated to be 8–9 days. Luteolysis occurred in association with the release of PGF2α. In pregnant animals, a transient decrease in progesterone concentrations was observed between days 8 and 18 in both species. No significant changes in PGF2α secretion were registered during this period. Oes– tradiol–17ß concentrations were high on the day of mating, declined to low values on day 4, and started to increase again on day 8. Peak values after luteolysis in non-pregnant animals were significantly higher than those registered in pregnant ones. Furthermore, concentrations of oestradiol-17ß were elevated for a longer period in non–pregnant than in pregnant animals. The results suggest that progesterone from the corpus luteum exerts a negative influence on follicular activity in pregnant animals by reducing oes– tradiol-17ß secretion. 相似文献

Effects of dietary cimaterol (5 mg/kg) on adipose tissue metabolism of wether lambs were studied. Lipogenesis, lipolysis, fatty acid composition and adipocyte size and number were measured. Cimaterol feeding increased lipogenesis; however, this effect was not statistically significant. Insulin (1,000 microU/ml) stimulated lipogenesis of adipose tissue from control sheep. However, this elevated rate was abolished by in vitro cimaterol. Insulin had no stimulatory effect on lipogenesis in cimaterol-fed sheep. Lipolysis was depressed by cimaterol feeding. However, 10(-4) M cimaterol stimulated lipolysis in the adipose tissue from both control and cimaterol-fed sheep. Insulin inhibited stimulated lipolysis in adipose tissue from control sheep but had no effect on the stimulated lipolysis in cimaterol-fed sheep. Mean adipocyte diameter was smaller (from 74 to 70 microns) and adipocyte size distribution also was changed in the cimaterol-fed sheep. Adipocyte number per gram of tissue was not affected by cimaterol. There was a significant increase in percentage of unsaturated fatty acids in adipose tissue from cimaterol-fed sheep. These results indicate that lipogenic and lipolytic responses to insulin and cimaterol in sheep adipose tissue were altered by cimaterol feeding. The carcass fat content decrease in cimaterol-fed sheep may be attributed to the reduction in adipocyte size. 相似文献

Calves infected with Trypanosoma congolense TREU 112 had generalized microvascular dilation which was most prominent in the liver and the mesentery; there also was increase in cellularity in the lung with significant alveolar thickening and accumulation of hemosiderin-bearing cells in the alveolar septa, focal accumulations of lymphocytes primarily at the corticomedullary junction of the kidneys and a well developed glomerulonephritis, likely membranoproliferative. In vitro maturation of oocytes has been described for several species, but to our knowledge this is the first attempt to mature oocytes from reindeer in vitro. Reindeer are seasonal breeders with their main period of breeding activity starting in the beginning of October. Little knowledge exists about in vivo oocyte maturation, fertilization and development of the early embryonic stages after fertilization. The present study was undertaken to estimate the time for the attainment of spermatogenesis in spring-born Corriedale ram lambs under conditions of extensive grazing systems in Uruguay. Clinical (live weight, scrotal circumference, penile/preputial separation), morphologi-cal(light and electron microscopy) and endocrinological (testosterone levels) parameters were examined. Two experiments in 2 consecutive years were carried out. In Exp. I, 40 ram lambs were clinically examined, weighed, and blood-sampled at 2 week-intervals between 78 and 216 days of age. Sixteeen were castrated in 3 selected periods: 132-162 (n: 2), 145–175 (n: 6) and 186–216 days (n: 8). In Exp. II, 40 ram lambs appertaining to the next generation of the same flock were examined as above at 180–210 days of age, and castrated for morphological studies. The time for attainment of complete spermatogenesis correlated significantly with most corporal parameters (i.e. scrotal circumference (r = 0.52); testicular weight (r = 0.61), epididymal weight (r = 0.60), penile/preputial separation (r = 0.75). The age of castrated ram lambs correlated with the degree of spermatogenesis (r = 0.83), although no significant correlations were found with live weight or with levels of circulating testosterone. The histology showed major variations in the degree of development of the seminiferous epithelium. Cells undergoing degeneration were a common finding through the initial stages of spermatogenesis, coincident to the presence of sperm abnormalities and foreign cells in semen. By day 180 and onwards, both histology and seminal picture normalized. It is concluded that, under these rearing conditions, the onset of puberty (expressed as morphologically established spermatogenesis) in Corriedale ram lambs is attained at 180-216 days of age when they reach 23 cm of scrotal circumference and 191 g of testis weight. The finding of a high correlation between these parameters (r: 0.93) confirms the usefulness of the measurement of scrotal circumference during clinical examination of ram lambs in this breed. 相似文献

Objectives were to examine mechanisms underlying anabolic actions of cimaterol in skeletal muscle and to evaluate cimaterol's actions in hypothyroid and hyperthyroid rats. In the first study growing rats were fed either a control diet or a diet containing cimaterol for 10 days. In a second study sham-thyroidectomized and thyroidectomized (Tx) rats were assigned to one of 5 treatments: control (sham-Tx), Tx, Tx supplemented with cimaterol, Tx injected with triiodothyronine (T3), and Tx rats injected with T3 and supplemented with cimaterol. Effects of treatments on growth, muscle weights and urinary NT-methylhistidine (NMH) excretion were evaluated in both trials. Muscle was also collected for determinations of DNA, RNA, protein and activities of several proteolytic enzymes. Cimaterol caused muscle hypertrophy and increased urinary NMH excretion. Hence, anabolic actions of cimaterol may result from an increase in myofibrillar protein synthesis which exceeds changes in myofibrillar protein degradation. Urinary NMH excretion was reduced by thyroidectomy and increased in hyperthyroid rats and both hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism were characterized by myopathy. Cimaterol increased muscle weights in hypothyroid but not in hyperthyroid rats. Therefore, cimaterol's anabolic properties are thyroid hormone-independent and antagonized by excess thyroid hormone. Anabolic actions of cimaterol in hypothyroid rat muscle were attributed to an action on protein synthesis because urinary NMH excretion was not affected by cimaterol but muscle RNA concentration was increased. Activities of cathepsins B, D and L and neutral proteinase were dose-related to thyroid status, however, were unrelated to cimaterol-dependent perturbations in NMH excretion. Control of muscle protein balance by thyroid hormones may involve regulation of these enzymes; however, control of muscle protein degradation by cimaterol is likely directed towards other proteolytic mechanisms or to mechanisms which alter susceptibility of myofibrillar proteins to degradation. 相似文献
