Laboratory studies assessing the degree of suitability of the mealybugs Planococcus ficus (Signoret), Planococcus citri (Risso) and Pseudococcus calceolariae (Maskell), towards the Sicilian ecotype of the encyrtid parasitoid Anagyrus sp. nr. pseudococci were carried out. All three species of mealybugs were shown to encapsulate the eggs of the encyrtid; however, significant
differences were revealed among them in rates of encapsulation and/or superparasitism. The level of aggregate encapsulation
and effective encapsulation of the parasitoid eggs by P. citri (74.95 ± 0.87 and 60.19 ± 1.70, respectively) was significantly higher than that recorded for P. ficus (aggregate encapsulation = 58.43 ± 0.83 and effective encapsulation = 31.31 ± 1.55) and significantly lower than the values
found in Ps. calceolariae (93.99 ± 0.97 and 88.61 ± 2.03, respectively). As such, rates of parasitism were significantly lower for P. ficus compared with both P. citri and Ps. calceolariae. The two latter species of mealybugs showed similar rates of parasitism by A. sp. nr. pseudococci. Moreover, a significantly higher rate of superparasitism was found for Ps. calceolariae compared with both P. citri and P. ficus, whereas no significant differences were found between the two species of Planococcus for this parameter. 相似文献

The conformational behavior, molecular geometry and electronic structure of quercetin were investigated using the semiempirical AM1 and PM3 methods. Results reveal that quercetin has a nonplanar molecular structure, with cross-conjugation occurring at the C ring. Calculations were also performed for quercetin radical species at the OH groups, showing the presence of three radicals in a narrow range of energy. An interpretation of the antioxidative process mechanism, exerted by quercetin as a free radical scavenger, relies on two isoenergetic radicals with extended electronic delocalization between adjacent rings, also having cross-conjugated systems and being affected by the experimental environment influencing their relative order. 相似文献

The disappearance of rotenone on olives under field conditions was studied. The field data showed that rotenone residues on olives decreased with a half-life (t(1/2)) of 4.0 days. After pre-harvest time (10 days) the residues were higher than the maximum residue level fixed in Italy (0.04 mg/kg). Experiments with model systems showed that the mechanism of disappearance of rotenone is not related to evaporation, thermodegradation, or co-distillation, but only to photodegradation. When the olives were processed for oil, the residues in the oil were higher than the residues on the olives by a factor of 2.4-4.8. 相似文献

The stability of pyrethrins in formulations containing different combinations of antioxidant and sunscreen was studied with model system experiments. The mechanism of disappearance of pyrethrins was mainly due to photodegradation, but some loss by codistillation can occur. In formulations, the presence of mineral oil and emulsifiers determined a decrease on codistillation losses. The presence of the antioxidant in formulations even at high concentrations did not affect pyrethrin photodegradation rates, but rising amounts of sunscreen determined a progressive increase on half-life times of pyrethrins. A combination of sunscreen and antioxidant at low concentrations provided an effective protection against sunlight similar to that obtained by high amounts of sunscreen alone. 相似文献

The content of benzo[a]pyrene (BaP), a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon, was determined by HPLC-FL in "mozzarella di bufala campana" cheese, a stretched cooked cheese, either experimentally smoked according to traditional procedures, using straw, cardboard, and wood shavings or aromatized with smoke flavoring. The BaP residues, researched also in cheese samples sold at retail, were detected in the rind, in the core, and in the slice (outer and inner parts). In the cheeses experimentally smoked with straw and cardboard the BaP levels, ranging from 0.38 to 2.12 microg kg(-1) and from 0.46 to 2.40 microg kg(-1), respectively, were statistically higher than those of the cheeses smoked with wood shavings and aromatized with liquid smoke (from 0.19 to 0.80 microg kg(-1) and from 0.18 to 0.50 microg kg(-1), respectively). However the cheeses treated with liquid smoke flavor showed a BaP content exceeding the level allowed by the European Union. In the samples sold at retail, smoked with straw, values were lower than those obtained from samples smoked experimentally with the same combustible. This is probably due to different smoking technologies among the several provinces of the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) area. PDO is a term used to characterize foodstuffs produced and prepared in a given geographical region by the means of a recognized process. A standardization of the traditional smoking procedures and an improvement of liquid smoke purification treatments are recommended for mozzarella cheese. 相似文献

RNA silencing processes are guided by small RNAs that are derived from double-stranded RNA. To probe for function of RNA silencing during infection of human cells by a DNA virus, we recorded the small RNA profile of cells infected by Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). We show that EBV expresses several microRNA (miRNA) genes. Given that miRNAs function in RNA silencing pathways either by targeting messenger RNAs for degradation or by repressing translation, we identified viral regulators of host and/or viral gene expression. 相似文献

Maedi Visna virus (MVV) causes progressive degenerative inflammatory disease in multiple organs including the lungs (pneumonia, ‘maedi’), mammary gland, joints and nervous system (meningoencephalomyelitis, ‘visna’) in sheep. Maedi Visna Virus has been detected in macrophages of several tissues and epithelial cells in vivo: bone marrow, cells of the central nervous system, lung and bronchial tissues, milk epithelial cells recovered from milk samples and epithelial cells of mammary tissue. However, the presence of MVV in the genital tracts of naturally infected ewes has not previously been studied. The aim of this study was to use nested‐PCR, targeting the gag gene, to determine whether genital tissues (ovaries, oviducts and uterus) from 83 ewes originating from various breeding herds in the South‐East of France were positive for MVV‐proviral DNA. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) tested positive for MVV‐proviral DNA, using nested‐PCR analysis, in 57.8% of ewes (48/83). The provirus was also identified in 47% (78/166) of the ovaries, 38.6% (64/166) of the oviducts and 45.8% (38/83) of the uteri sampled. These findings clearly demonstrate, for the first time, that tissue samples from the genital tract of ewes (ovary, oviduct and uterus) can be infected with MVV. This suggests that there is a risk of vertical and/or horizontal transmission of MVV during embryo transfer from embryos produced in vivo or in vitro. 相似文献
