In order to investigate shear failure surface of decayed wood, wood pieces of ezomatsu (Picea jezoensis) were exposed to brown-rot fungus (Fomitopsis palustris), and standard shear test in radial plane was conducted. The failure surfaces were examined by scanning electron microscopy and surface roughness measurements were also conducted. Transwall failure that the crack elongated parallel to the tracheid axis was observed in the earlywood region through all phases of decay. Intrawall failure principally occurred in the latewood region on the early phase of decay. When decay progressed considerably, transwall failure that the crack elongated perpendicularly to the tracheid axis occurred. And transwall failure was also dominant failure morphology in the latewood region. Fragments of tracheids which were partly peeled out from S2 layers were observed in some specimens. Size and appearance frequency of fragments of tracheid were smaller and lower when decay progressed. Arithmetic average roughness, which was the index of fragment size and appearance frequency, had positive correlation to shear strength ratio. Especially, line surface roughness of radial direction, which was measured across the radial files of tracheid, had the highest correlation to the shear strength ratio. The surface roughness would be a good indicator to evaluate the decay degree.  相似文献

Four clonal lines of ayu, Plecoglossus altivelis Temminck & Schlegel, were produced through gynogenesis, mixed before hatching and reared communally. After 10 months, a randomly taken sample was subjected to a standardized shallow-water stressor. Haematocrit, haemoglobin, red blood cells count (RBC) and mean corpuscular volume (MCV) were obtained from stressed and non-stressed fish. DNA fingerprinting was used to confirm the clonal nature of the organisms and to identify the clonal line to which each fish belonged. We observed significant differences between clonal lines mostly in the haematocrit and MCV measured under no-stress conditions. Such differences are suggested to represent mainly genetic variance, on account of the common environment provided to all the experimental groups. The stress response ratio was lower than expected, mainly due to some unexpectedly high non-stress values. Heritability values (h2) were medium to high for the no-stress measurements (mean 0.238) and very low or zero for the stressed groups’traits (excepting one high value of 0.484). We conclude that the use of communally reared clonal lines represents a good tool for the characterization of the physiological traits, thus allowing for their utilization as genetic selection criteria.  相似文献

Ion-selective field-effect transistors (ISFETs), which are integrated devices for ion-selective electrodes using solid-state microelectronics technology, have attracted much attention for convenient monitoring of acid rain, since conventional analytical procedures are time-consuming. In this paper, some recent results of studies on pH and nitrate checkers made of ISFETs using new sensing materials and their application to samples of acid rain are described. A new pH-sensitive film, TiN was deposited onto the gate of ISFET device using RF plasma-enhanced CVD method. The plasma was generated in a mixture of TiCl4, N2 and H2 gases. The prepared pH-ISFETs showed a linear response and the almost theoretical slope sensitivity of 59 mV per pH change with a rapid response of less than 10 seconds. We have obtained fairly good agreement with the pH values using conventional pH glass electrode. A prototype nitrate-checker was prepared with casting newly designed nitrate-sensing materials, plasticizers and PVC based tetrahydrofuran solution onto the ISFET device. We have obtained good agreement with the values using conventional ion-chromatography at mg L?1 level.  相似文献

It is known that methylthio-s-triazines can be transformed to the corresponding 2-hydroxy derivatives through sulfoxides and sulfones in aerobic and flooded soil; however, production of sulfoxides and/or sulfones from methylthio-s-triazines by isolated s-triazine-degrading bacteria has not been reported yet. In the present study, a new bacterial strain, JUN7, was obtained from Japanese soil; the bacterium is capable of transforming simetryn to 2-methylsulfinyl 4,6-bis(ethylamino)-s-triazine (sulfoxide simetryn) and 2-hydroxy-4,6-bis(ethylamino)-s-triazine (2-hydroxy simetryn) in a Luria-Bertani (LB) medium. This is the first isolation of the specific microorganism that mediates sulfur oxidation of methylthio-s-triazines, as far as we know. Strain JUN7 could decrease other methylthio-s-triazines such as dimethametryn and prometryn, but not chlorinated s-triazines (atrazine, simazine, and terbuthylazine) and methoxy-s-triazine (atraton) in 1/10 LB medium. Strain JUN7 did not possessed gene atzA or trzN encoding triazine-degrading enzymes, suggesting that the strain may have another metabolic system. Characterizations of strain JUN7 based on comparative morphology, physiological classification, and comparison of the partial 16S rRNA sequence indicated that it is assigned as a Bacillus cereus species.  相似文献

Eugenol, which has been used as an anesthetic for fish, was administered to Japanese flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus (127 ± 50.8 g), by bath treatment at concentrations of 0.025, 0.125, and 0.25 mL/L seawater for 10 min and intramuscular injection at 40 μL/fish to investigate the pharmacokinetic characteristics of eugenol in the plasma of Japanese flounder. In the bath treatment test, plasma eugenol concentration increased with increasing eugenol concentration up to 0.125 mL/L and reached steady state within 5 min. After a 10‐min bath treatment in 0.25 mL/L eugenol, plasma eugenol concentration was about 58.4 µg/mL. After transfer into running seawater, plasma eugenol concentration decreased biphasically with half‐lives of 0.0296 h (α‐phase) and 0.289 h (β‐phase). The AUC0000→0800 was about 16.5 µg h/mL. In administration by intramuscular injection, plasma eugenol concentration increased rapidly after administration and decreased biphasically with half‐lives of 0.0329 h (α‐phase) and 8.08 h (β‐phase). The AUC0000→0800 was about 52.5 µg h/mL. In both methods of administration, Japanese flounder with average weight of 127 g were effectively anesthetized when plasma eugenol concentrations were between 2.19 and 4.88 µg/mL.  相似文献

The effect of melamine content in melamine-urea-formaldehyde (MUF) resins on the formaldehyde emission and resin structure was investigated using six MUF resins synthesized with different F/(M + U) and M/U molar ratios. The formaldehyde emission from the plywood decreased as the F/(M + U) molar ratio decreased and the M/ U molar ratio increased. In addition, the bond performance was enhanced as the M/U molar ratio increased in the MUF resins with a fixed F/(M + U) molar ratio. Quantitative solution13C-NMR spectra of MUF resins revealed that the MUF resins with a high melamine content consisted of more highly branched crosslinkage structure and free melamine compared to the resins with low melamine contents. Furthermore, solid-state13C CP-MAS NMR spectra of cured MUF resins proved that more methylol groups, dimethylene ether, and branched methylene structures were present in the MUF resins with a higher F/(M + U) molar ratio, leading to increased bond strength and formaldehyde emission. There is no significant difference in the linkage structure of the cured resins with the same F/(M + U) and different M/U molar ratios except the ratios of carbonyl carbon of urea and triazine carbon of melamine. Therefore, the lower formaldehyde emission from cured MUF resins with a higher M/U molar ratio might be ascribed to the stronger linkages between triazine carbons of melamine than those of urea carbons. Consequently, the melamine contributed to strong crosslinking linkages in the cured resin structures, leading to lower formaldehyde emission and better bond performance.Part of this work was presented at the 48th Annual Meeting of the Japan Wood Research Society, Shizuoka, April 1998  相似文献

Shear tests were conducted on nailed joints in wood that were loaded perpendicular to the grain; these joints had 21 specifications depending on different combinations of wood species, nail dimensions, number of nails, and edge distances of the main members, and their effects on the shear resistance of the nailed joints were also investigated. The nailed joints with CN75 nails had higher initial stiffness than the joints with CN50 nails, provided the initial stiffness of nailed joints connected with 3 or 5 nails was not always a simple product of the number of nails and the initial stiffness of nailed joints connected with a nail, and instead depended on the combination of wood species of the main member and nail dimensions. When the edge distance decreased, the maximum load and energy capacity decreased, thereby affecting the energy capacity. The maximum load of the nailed joints with CN75 nails may be smaller than those with CN50 nails depending on the combination of wood species and nail dimensions. When the edge distance of the nailed joints was less than 26 mm, the energy capacity of the nailed joints with CN75 nails was less than or similar to those with CN50 nails.  相似文献

Variations of certain anatomical and mechanical indices within tree stems of aged sugi (Cryptomeria japonica) trees planted in Akita prefecture were studied. The determination of the juvenile/mature wood boundary was also discussed, and the effects of wood structure on mechanical properties were investigated. On the basis of radial and vertical variation of the anatomical and mechanical indices, modulus of elasticity (MOE)/ shear modulus (G) was chosen as the index for determining the juvenile/mature wood boundary. The increase rates of MOE/G at the points of 1%, 2%, and 3% were discussed. It was found that for aged trees, all three points were thought to be effective for dividing juvenile and mature wood. However, for younger trees, the point of 2% was recommended, which was mostly consistent with the result obtained by the increase rate of 1% for tracheid length (TL). Among mechanical properties, the MOE showed more significant juvenile/mature wood differences than did modulus of rupture (MOR) and . By correlation analysis, it was suggested that microfibril angle largely contributed to the indices of MOE and G, and specific gravity largely contributed to the indices of MOR and .Part of this report was presented at the 53rd Annual Meeting of the Japan Wood Research Society, Fukuoka, March 2003  相似文献
