Influence of lipid composition of live feed on growth, survival and pigmentation of turbot larvae 总被引:17,自引:0,他引:17
The effect of different lipid compositions of live feed on the survival, growth rate and pigmentation success of turbot larvae, Scophthalmus maximus (L.), was investigated. Rotifers, Brachionus plicatilis, together with the algae Tetraselmis sp., were administered until day 12, and Artemia was fed until day 27. The experimentally treated live feeds were enriched with four formulated emulsions, resulting in a gradient in the relative contents of 3 HUFA (highly unsaturated fatty acids) and in DHA (docosahexaenoic acid, 22:6 3)/EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid, 20:5 3) ratios in both the rotifers and Artemia. There were no differences in larval growth rate, and only small differences in survival rate throughout the feeding experiment, probably because of satisfactory levels of 3 HUFA in the live feed to sustain growth and survival. A correlation was obtained between the percentage of completely pigmented 27 d old turbot and the DHA/EPA ratio in the total lipids of 12 d old larvae, which again was correlated with the corresponding ratio in the live feed used. The results suggest that normal pigmentation in turbot requires dietary DHA in the early larval feeding period, and that this requirement cannot be replaced by EPA. 相似文献

Pulmonary hypertension may result from an increase in vascular resistance caused by persistent hypoxia. We have investigated the effects of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), administered into the pulmonary artery, on haemodynamic changes occurring in anaesthetized adult dogs subjected to acute hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction. Hypoxia alone (ventilation with 10% O2/90% N2) caused significant increases in mean pulmonary arterial blood pressure (PAP), central venous pressure (CVP), and cardiac index (CI) by 71, 102 and 38%, respectively. ATP (0.03-3.0 micromol/kg/min approximately 0.02-1.65 mg/kg/min), when infused under hypoxic conditions, significantly reduced both mean PAP and systemic arterial blood pressure (ABP) in a dose-dependent manner. The maximum decrease in mean PAP amounted to 20%; mean ABP, on the other hand, was decreased by up to 52% (P<0.01). Heart rate, CI, CVP and pulmonary occlusion pressure were not dose-dependently affected by ATP. Our data indicate that while pulmonary arterial administration of ATP in mature dogs during hypoxic pulmonary hypertension causes dilation in the pulmonary vascular bed, it is even more effective in dilating the systemic vasculature. This result suggests a need for further evaluation and warrants cautious use of ATP in the treatment of hypoxic pulmonary hypertension in adult dogs. 相似文献

Retention of furunculosis vaccine components in Atlantic salmon, Salmo salar L., following different routes of vaccine administration 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The retention of vaccine components was studied in Atlantic salmon, Salmo salar L., following different routes of vaccination against Aeromonas salmonicida. Frozen tissue was collected from the spleen, head kidney, hind gut and liver of fish that had been vaccinated by intraperitoneal injection (monovalent and trivalent vaccines), immersion and oral administration 2,6,8 and 16 weeks previously. The trivalent injection group showed the highest levels of specific antibodies and was the only group to show protection following challenge with virulent A. salmonicida. Following intraperitoneal injection, there was an initial widespread distribution of Aeromonas lipo-polysaccharide, but by 16 weeks lipopolysaccharide was predominantly found in macrophage populations in the spleen, head kidney and abdominal granulomas. Only small amounts of lipopolysaccharide were retained in the head kidney of the immersion group and no lipopolysaccharide was retained in the oral group. Small and inconsistent amounts of A-layer protein were present in the meianomacrophages of the head kidney of all groups. The relative prominence of A-layer protein in the spleen of the trivalent injection group 8 weeks after vaccination was linked to the high levels of specific antibodies, and possible immune-complex trapping and the enhancement of immunological memory. 相似文献
