Induced breeding of climbing perch, Anabas testudineus was conducted by synthetic hormone Wova‐FH in the intensity level of 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3 mL kg?1 of body weight respectively. The brooders were injected one time and left to spawn in the spawning hapa in the sex ratio between male and female as 2:1. It was found that at all the intensity level hormone Wova‐FH could enhance the fishes to breed and lay eggs whereas no breeding was observed in control set. The spawning time, quantity of the brooder spawn, fertilization rate, hatching rate and survival rate were quantified in each set of experiment. The egg output/female was significantly higher in 0.3 mL in comparison with 0.1 and 0.2 mL kg?1 of body weight. The statistical analysis showed significant (P≤0.05) effect between hormone dose on fertilization rate, egg output and hatching rate. The present experiment suggests that Wova‐FH at the dose of 0.3 mL kg?1 body weight of fish is more effective which might be considered for raising captive population.  相似文献

Field experiments were conducted in Stuttgart, Arkansas, in 2007 and 2008 to evaluate cyhalofop application timing and adjuvant selection for Echinochloa crus-galli L. Beauv. (barnyardgrass) control in drill-seeded rice. In the application timing experiment, cyhalofop was applied at 1 d prior to flooding (PREFL) and at 7, 14, and 21 d post-flood (POSTFL) as single (314 g a.i./ha) or sequential application (first application at 314 g a.i./ha followed by a second application 14 days later at 213 g a.i./ha). In the adjuvant study, the adjuvants evaluated were non-ionic surfactant (NIS) at 0.25% v/v, crop oil concentrate (COC) at 1% v/v, methylated seed oil (MSO) at 1% v/v, 28% urea ammonium nitrate (UAN) at 2.5% v/v, combination of NIS or COC or MSO with UAN, a proprietary blend of MSO/organosilicone (OSL)/UAN at 2.5% v/v, and MSO/OSL/UAN applied with NIS or COC. All adjuvants applied with cyhalofop (314 g a.i./ha at 14 d after flood establishment) resulted in E. crus-galli control and rice yields comparable to cyhalofop alone. In 2007, a single application of cyhalofop controlled E. crus-galli 98–100% by the end of the season, except in the 14-d POSTFL timing (90%). In 2008, Ecrus-galli plants were more robust, and control was inconsistent and less than in 2007 (10–91%). At the PREFL timing, sequential applications were needed to improve end-of-season E. crus-galli control. The 7-d POSTFL timing was one of the best single application timings for increased E. crus-galli control and rice yield. Delaying the cyhalofop application to 21-d POSTFL resulted in unacceptable E. crus-galli control of 10 and 46% with single and sequential programs, respectively. Average rice yield was reduced almost three-fold when the first cyhalofop application was at 21-d POSTFL compared with 7-d POSTFL.  相似文献

The study deals with evaluation of antifungal and antiaflatoxigenic Caesulia axillaris Roxb. essential oil (EO) against herbal raw materials deteriorating fungi and its free radical scavenging activity. During mycoflora analysis these herbal raw materials were found to be severely contaminated by different fungi and aflatoxins. A total of nine different fungal species were isolated from three herbal raw materials. Aspergillus flavus LHPtc was recorded as the highest aflatoxin B1 producing strain. EOs of some plants were tested for their fungitoxicity against the toxigenic strain A. flavus LHPtc, and C. axillaris EO was found as potent fungitoxicant. C. axillaris EO was chemically characterized through GC-MS analysis which depicted the presence of 18 compounds, dl-limonene and Euasarone being the major components. The EO exhibited broad spectrum of fungitoxicity against fungi causing postharvest deterioration of herbal raw materials. At 1.0 μl ml−1 the oil showed complete inhibition of fungal growth and aflatoxin B1 production was inhibited at 0.8 μl ml−1. Free radical scavenging activity of the oil was also recorded by 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl assay, and its IC50 value was found 18 μl ml−1. The safety limit of the EO was determined in terms of LD50 on mice, which was 9166.6 μl kg−1, suggesting its non mammalian toxicity. The EO of C. axillaris may be recommended as a plant based preservative in enhancement of shelf life of herbal raw materials by preventing their lipid peroxidation as well as biodeterioration due to fungal and aflatoxin contamination.  相似文献

The genetic divergence among 34 genotypes belonging to 12 species of genus Cajanus were carried out using plant pest interaction and DNA marker analysis. Principal component analysis based on average percentage of pod damage caused by pod borer, plume moth, and blue butterfly in the field conditions, and growth of their larva and pupa on an artificial diet in vitro dispersed these genotypes into four coordinates evincing high genetic divergence as expected. DNA marker analysis using 11 pairs of SSR and nine ISSR primers showed higher polymorphism at the species level, and these primers exhibited variation with regard to average band informativeness, resolving power, and PIC value. No single primer was able to distinguish between all the 34 genotypes of Cajanus but nine species specific amplified fragments were generated by five ISSR primers. The pairwise Jaccard’s similarity coefficient and Nei’s genetic distance values revealed a higher level of inter-specific genetic variation in the genus Cajanus. The clustering of genotypes based on Jaccard’s similarity coefficient vis-a-vis Nei’s genetic distance agreed with the sectional classification of the genus Cajanus. Seven cultivars of C. cajan and the genotypes of their wild progenitor C. cajanifolius remained in one cluster, whereas accessions of C. platycarpus and C. scarabaeoides were out grouped. The rest of the genotypes belonging to nine species of Cajanus formed another cluster. The principal coordinate analysis also supported this clustering pattern. Moreover, these findings have good many implications for future breeding endeavors aimed at the introgression of pod borer resistance alleles.  相似文献

Drought stress is presently a major productivity limiting factor in wheat. This study developed five wheat lines with inbuilt tolerance to drought stress using marker‐assisted backcross breeding (MABB) approach employing three linked quantitative trait loci (QTLs) in an initial population of 516 BC1F1 plants. The high‐yielding wheat cultivar ‘HD2733’ grown over last few years extensively in the eastern plains of India is largely sensitive to drought and is used as the recurrent parent. ‘HI1500’ released for water‐limiting conditions and carrying drought‐tolerant QTLs was used as donor parent. MABB lines were advanced using foreground and background selection, coupled with stringent phenotyping. We identified 29 lines that were homozygous for targeted QTLs in different combinations with background recovery range of 89.2%–95.4%. Further evaluation of selected lines for physiological traits and distinctness, uniformity and stability (DUS) characters under rainfed condition identified five potential varieties for national varietal evaluation programme in the zone. The report is first of its kind in implementing known QTLs for the development of drought‐tolerant wheat lines through MABB approach.  相似文献

Foliar application of nutrients enhances efficient use along with quick response. The experiment was undertaken to study the effect of foliar application of mineral nutrients viz., boron (B), zinc (Zn), calcium (Ca), and potassium (K) sprayed at different growth stages viz., at fruit set and at two weeks after fruit set of guava (Psidium guajava L.). Increase in plant canopy and minimum seed index was in Zn (0.03%) sprayed at fruit set. Fruit size, sugar: acid, and organoleptic score were better in K (0.5%) sprayed at two weeks after fruit set. Increased yield in Zn (0.01%) and pectin enhancement with B (0.03%) was found at two weeks after fruit set, respectively. Minimum physiological loss in weight of fruits was with Ca (0.5%) sprayed at two weeks after fruit set. In general, for most of the desirable characters 0.5% potassium (K) spray at 2 weeks after fruit set had better results.  相似文献

An avian influenza (AI) surveillance was undertaken in Maharashtra state, India during the period 2010-2011. There are no reports of AI surveillance in emus from India. A total of 202 blood samples and 467 tracheal and cloacal swabs were collected from eight emu farms. A hemagglutination inhibition (HI) assay was performed for detection of antibodies against AI H5N1, H7N1, H9N2, and avian paramyxovirus type 1 (APMV-1) viruses. A microneutralization (MN) assay was performed to confirm the presence of neutralizing antibodies against AI H9N2 and to compare with HI assays. A total of 28.2% and 28.7% of samples were positive for antibodies against AI H9N2 by HI and MN assays, respectively, using > or = 1:40 as a cut-off titer; 15.3% samples were positive for APMV-1 by HI assay using a > or = 1:10 cut-off titer. Seropositivity of AI H9N2 was nil in the grower (<1 yr) age group and highest (78%) in the breeder (2-3 yr) age group, whereas seropositivity against APMV-1 was observed in all age groups. Performance of both HI and MN assays was similar, suggesting the utility of using the MN assay along with HI assay for surveillance studies. This is the first report of the seroprevalence of AI H9N2 and APMV-1 in emus in India.  相似文献
