The effects of increasing soya bean lecithin (SL) levels (0%, 2% and 4% of diet dry matter, DM) at two fish oil (FO) levels (0% and 3% DM) on gonad index, colour and biochemical composition of Strongylocentrotus purpuratus were evaluated using a 3 × 2 factorial design with six iso‐nitrogenous formulated diets. All diets generated an increase in gonad index of more than 9%. Dietary FO had a positive effect on diet digestibility and accumulation of proteins in the gonad. Soy lecithin did not affect gonad composition, but improved its coloration, decreased gonad feed conversion ratio and increased gonad protein efficiency. There was a clear effect of diets on sea urchins gonad protein, ash and fatty acid content, in particular, decreasing the n‐3/n‐6 ratio associated with a decrease in 20:5n‐3 when SL levels increased. Nevertheless, 22:6n‐3 levels increased by week 12 in all treatments, and diets with SL increased the content of 20:4n‐6 in gonads. A decrease in bitter‐tasting amino acids such as histidine, cysteine, valine and methionine was observed in all treatments with a concomitant increase in isoleucine levels. We recommend using a diet containing 3% of FO and 2% of SL to increase food consumption, diet digestibility, improving marketable gonad colour and an increasing gonad n‐6 fatty acids and C22:6n‐3. In addition, the present study paves the way for future research in the use of FO and SL as an additive in diets for S. purpuratus towards the goal of increasing gonad size and nutritional quality. 相似文献

The effects of two diets with different lipid composition (squid Loligo gahi and one commercial pellet for breeders) on reproductive performance and egg lipid composition of brill (Scophthalmus rhombus) were compared. A total of 36 adult brill weighing 1482 ± 432 g were randomly distributed in the experimental tanks. A flow‐through system composed of four tanks with 4.2 m2 of bottom area (5.0 m3 × 1.2 m water depth) was used. The experiment lasted for approximately 5 months (168 days). From the four mature females fed squid, three ovulated. Five females fed pellets matured and ovulated. Total ovulations were of 10 and 44, by the three females fed squid and the five ovulating female fed pellets respectively. Egg viability was higher, although not significantly, for females fed pellets. This indicates that pellets could be a better food for breeding females. In general, the egg total lipid content and the lipid classes composition did not seem to be affected by diet. In contrast, results indicate that not only diets but also individual females, regardless of the diet consumed, are determinant for egg fatty acid composition, clearly modulating their composition. 相似文献

Nannochloropsis gaditana is a microalga with interesting nutritional and functional value due to its high content of protein, polyunsaturated fatty acids, and bioactive compounds. However, the hardness of its cell wall prevents accessibility to these components. This work aimed to study the effect of a treatment to increase the fragility of the cell wall on the bioavailability of its nutrients and functional compounds. The antioxidant and antiproliferative capacity of functional extracts from treated and untreated N. gaditana was assessed, and the profile of bioactive compounds was characterized. Furthermore, to study the effect of treatment on its nutrient availability and functional capacity, an in vivo experiment was carried out using a rat experimental model and a 20% dietary inclusion level of microalgae. Functional extracts from treated N. gaditana exhibited higher antioxidant activity than the untreated control. Furthermore, the treated microalga induced hypoglycemic action, higher nitrogen digestibility, and increased hepatic antioxidant activity. In conclusion, N. gaditana has interesting hepatoprotective, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory potential, thus proving itself an ideal functional food candidate, especially if the microalga is treated to increase the fragility of its cell wall before consumption. 相似文献

A kinetic study of the alkylating potential of potassium sorbate (S)-a food preservative used worldwide-in 7:3 water/dioxane medium was performed. The following conclusions were drawn: (i) Potassium sorbate shows alkylating activity on the nucleophile 4-(p-nitrobenzyl)pyridine (NBP), a trap for alkylating agents with nucleophilic characteristics similar to those of DNA bases, (ii) The NBP alkylation reaction complies with the rate equation r = k(alk)[H+][S][NBP]/(K(a) + [H+]), K(a) being the sorbic acid dissociation constant and k(alk) the rate constant of NBP alkylation by the undissociated acid. In the range of pH 5-6, the alkylation time ranges between 18 days (pH 5.2) and >1 month (pH > or = 6). (iii) NBP alkylation occurs through a reaction with deltaH# = 78 kJ mol(-1), which is much higher than those of NBP alkylation by stronger alkylating agents. (iv) The absorption coefficient of the sorbate-NBP adduct was determined to be epsilon = 204 M(-1) cm(-1) (lambda = 580 nm), this value being rationalized in terms of the adduct structure. Porophyllum tagetoides is an annual warm-weather herb that has an intense typical smell. Its leaves are commonly used in soup preparation and traditional
medicine for treatment of inflammatory diseases. Its volatile compounds and antioxidant properties were evaluated in crude,
aqueous and ethanol leaf extract and an oil emulsion using different antioxidant assays in vitro, such as: DPPH radical scavenging activity, redox potential, polyphenol content, reducing power and optical density. A high
antioxidative activity was found when comparing leaves with stems. The crude extract from leaves showed a very high reducing
power (2.88 ± 0.20 O.D.) and DPPH radical-scavenging activity (54.63 ± 4.80%), in concordance with a major concentration of
vitamin C (23.97 ± 0.36 mg/100 g). Instead, the highest polyphenol content (264.54 ± 2.17 mg GAE/g of sample) and redox potential
(561.23 ± 0.15 mV) were found by the ethanol and aqueous extract, respectively. Aldehydes and terpenes such as nonanal, decanal,
trans-pineno, β-myrcene and D-limonene were the major volatiles found. This study suggests that Porophyllum tagetoides extracts could be used as antioxidants. 相似文献

Gains and losses of soil carbon (C), have been reported when tropical forests are converted to pastures. Regional studies
are crucial for setting regional baselines and explaining each particular trend, in order to solve this controversy. Tropical
deciduous forest (TDF) is under high deforestation pressure, mainly for conversion to pastures. The present study compared
soil organic C (SOC) and nitrogen (SON) in the surface layer (0–5 cm) of forest and pasture soils in a TDF of western Mexico.
SOC and SON concentrations were 18 and 60% lower in pasture soils than in forest soils, and C:N ratio increased in pasture
soils. Furthermore, pasture soils had lower labile C and available inorganic nitrogen (N) than forest soils. These results
can be explained as a reduction in C inputs to pasture soils and management-induced disruption of soil aggregates. In forest
soils, macroaggregates (> 250 μm) were predominant (85%), whereas in pasture soils they were reduced to 35% of dry sand-free soil mass. The estimated SOC
and SON losses from the top 5 cm of soil were 3 Mg C ha−1 and 0.9 Mg N ha−1, respectively. 相似文献

Thermal stabilities of main enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of virgin olive oil (VOO) aroma through the lipoxygenase (LOX) pathway were studied in crude enzymatic preparations. Kinetic parameters of thermal inactivation for LOX were determined graphically and were shown to be compatible with the presence of two LOX isoenzymes (LOXlab and LOXres) having different thermal stabilities and displaying relative activities of 88 and 12% each. Data on hydroperoxide lyase (HPL) suggest the existence of just one HPL isoform. Thermal stabilities of LOX and HPL enzymatic activities in crude preparations seem to explain the observed decrease of volatile contents in VOO aroma as a consequence of heat treatments of olive fruit. Moreover, differences in thermal stability of LOXlab and LOXres would justify the distinct pattern of reduction of C6 and C5 compound contents observed in the aroma of these oils. 相似文献

Controlled atmosphere storage technology to extend the shelf life of "Reina de los Valles" wild strawberry fruit (Fragaria vesca L.) was studied. Fruits were stored at 3 degrees C for three weeks in different atmosphere compositions: 0.05% CO2/21% O2 (air), 3% CO2/18% O2, 6% CO2/15% O2, 10% CO2/11% O2, and 15% CO2/6% O2. The effect of gas composition on soluble solids content, titrable acidity, pH, off-flavor, aroma volatiles, and consumer preference was monitored. The result showed that the 10% CO2/11% O2 combination can efficiently prolong the shelf life of wild strawberries by maintaining the quality parameters within acceptable values, through inhibiting the development of Botrytis cinerea, without significantly modifying consumer acceptance. 相似文献

A 6-year-old castrated German Shepherd Dog was presented with a 6-month history of progressive, nonpainful, left pelvic limb paresis. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed atrophy of left-sided epaxial and hypaxial muscles from L5-L7 and an enlarged L5 spinal nerve. Exploratory hemi-laminectomy revealed focally and cylindrically thickened L5 and L6 nerve roots. Histologic evaluation of a surgical biopsy specimen from the L6 dorsal nerve root, and the L5 nerve roots after later amputation revealed distended hypercellular fascicles. This distension was due to widely separated axons surrounded by concentric lamellations formed by neoplastic perineurial cells and their processes. These pseudo-onion bulbs were separated from each other by a basophilic myxoid stroma. The perineurioma cell processes were immunonegative for S-100 (alpha and beta chains) and collagen IV, but were immunoreactive for laminin. The central axons were also immunoreactive for NF-200 and S-100. The proliferative index of the perineurioma cells, as determined by MIB-1 immunoreactivity, was about 3%. Ultrastructurally, the widely separated, interdigitating perineurioma cell processes were connected by desmosomal-like junctional complexes to form continuous circles. Their processes were covered by a discontinuous basal lamina. Each centrally placed axon was normally, thinly, or completely unmyelinated and was surrounded by a normal Schwann cell. These morphologic and immunologic features distinguish this lesion from hypertrophic neuropathy and were consistent with intraneural perineurioma. 相似文献
