Abstract

The aim of this investigation was to determine the effect of vermicompost (V) and phosphate rock (PR) on blackberry (Rubus fruticosus L. agg.) plants inoculated with Glomus mosseae (Nicol. & Gerd.) Gerdemann & Trappe (AMF). Plant growth parameters, total phenol compounds and total flavonoids were evaluated on leaves. Anthocyanin contents, soluble solids (SS), pH, titratable acidity (TA) and SS/TA ratio was evaluated in blackberries fruits. Blackberry plants were obtained from cuttings from field plants, which were distributed in soil according to a randomized complete block design with three repetitions. Treatments were vermicompost (10?g plant?1), phosphate rock (1?g plant?1), Glomus mosseae (AMF), (1?g plant?1), PR + AMF, V + PR, V +AMF, V + PR+ AMF and control without any amended. Plant height and stem diameter were measured five months after treatments, while total phenols and total flavonoids in leaves were evaluated eight months later. Anthocyanins, SS, pH, and TA were determined in blackberry fruits ten months after. Plant height was not statistically affected (p≤0.05), although total phenol compounds were higher (21.1?mg g?1 dry plant) in the V+PR+AMF treatment, whereas the V + AMF treatment produced more dry plant total flavonoids (1.4?mg g?1), compared with control plants. Blackberries produced with the vermicompost treatment had more anthocyanins (9.54?mg g?1) than control plants. Soluble solids, pH and titratable acidity were not statistically (p≤0.05) affected by any treatment.  相似文献

Purpose

The aluminium smelter located in the northern coast of Galicia (NW Spain) is a source of fluoride pollution. Previous papers Gago et al. (Commun Soil Sci Plant Anal 32:2503–2517, 2001, Fluoride 35:110–121, 2002) have identified an area of 3-km radius around the factory being affected by fluoride emissions. This study aims to investigate the influence of fluoride emissions on fluorine concentration and speciation as well as on aluminium speciation in soils in the vicinity of the smelter.

Materials and methods

PVC cylinders containing soil material from the A horizon of an unpolluted forest soil, similar to that in the vicinity of the factory, were placed within the A horizon of soils surrounding the smelter. The cylinders were placed at various distances (up to 3 km) from the factory in the direction of predominant winds. The PVC columns were removed after 6 months, and the soil material inside was divided into two slices (0–10 and 10–20 cm) and analysed for pH, total and available fluorine, exchangeable cations, effective cation exchange capacity (CEC) and oxalate-extracted aluminium. The soil solution was mimicked by aqueous extracts and analysed for pH, electrical conductivity, Ca, Mg, Na, K, total and free fluorine, total Al, acid-soluble Al, non-labile Al, labile Al and labile Al species.

Results and discussion

In the area closest to the factory (0.5 km), total and available fluorine in the upmost 10 cm soil increased by twofold and eightfold, respectively, while soluble fluoride increased by fourfold. Increases were also observed in exchangeable Ca, Mg, Al and CEC. Noncrystalline Al increased significantly at any distance from the smelter. Fluorine, pH, sulphate, aluminium and organic matter increased in the soil solution of surface (<10 cm) samples closest to the factory. Monomeric Al-organic matter complexes prevailed in the liquid phase at 0.5–1 km from the factory whereas inorganic Al complexes did at distances over 1 km. Among the inorganic Al complexes, fluoride complexes prevailed at distances less than 1 km and hydroxylated complexes at distances greater than 1 km. Al3+ concentration was always very low.

Conclusions

Emissions from an aluminium smelter led to increased concentrations of fluorine and various forms of aluminium in the nearby soil. These emissions mobilised aluminium, organic matter and probably sulphate from the soil. In the closest neighbourhood of the smelter, it was found that most soluble aluminium was bound to organic matter, hence having low toxicity, while at distances farther than 1 km Al-F and Al-OH complexes prevailed.  相似文献

Cucurbit powdery mildew (CPM) is caused most frequently by well-differentiated obligate erysiphaceous ectoparasites Golovinomyces orontii and Podosphaera xanthii, which vary in their ecology and virulence. All economically important cucurbit crops host both of these CPM species. Breeding of cucurbits for CPM resistance is highly important worldwide, but adequate knowledge of CPM species determination, as well as virulence structure, population dynamics, and spatiotemporal variation of these pathogens, has not yet been achieved. New tools have been developed to enhance research on CPM virulence variation for more efficient breeding and seed and crop production. A set of differential genotypes of Cucumis melo, with high differentiation capacity, may contribute substantially to understanding of variation in CPM virulence at both individual and population levels. Long-term observations (2001–2012) of CPM pathogens in the Czech Republic were used to analyse virulence variation within and among annual CPM populations and demonstrate the utility of recently developed tools for studying species variability and virulence variation of CPM pathogens worldwide. Detailed analyses of diversity and spatiotemporal fluctuations in the composition of CPM populations provide crucial information for shaping breeding programmes and predicting the most effective sources of race-specific resistance. The primary aim of this work was to create a uniform framework for determination of CPM species structure and diversity, virulence phenotypes, virulence and phenotype frequencies, phenotype complexity, dynamics, and variation within and among CPM populations. In addition, practical advice is presented on how to select the most relevant data and interpret them for use in cucurbit resistance breeding.  相似文献

Ovarian development and fecundity of Colorado potato beetles reared on the resistant potato species,Solanum berthaultii were reduced compared to females reared on the susceptible potato,S. tuberosum. Striking changes in the appearance of the digestive tract and large quantities of undigested plant material in the midgut of females reared onS. berthaultii suggest that ovarian development might be impaired by poor nutritional quality ofS. berthaultii foliage. Alternatively, enlargement of the midgut by undigested plant material might physically limit ovarian development and subsequent fecundity. These results suggest that a major impact ofS. berthaultii on CPB performance occurs in the physiology of digestion and reproduction.  相似文献

The effect of 25 ppm gibberellic acid (GA3), 7,500 ppm Gapol(R) (0.4% molybdate; 0.42% cobalt; 0.56% tungstate; 2.84% borax; 4 ppm indoleacetic acid; 4 ppm naphthyltalamic acid; and 2 ppm ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) and of two photoperiods (12 and 18 h daily) on flowering of potato cv Marijke was studied under greenhouse conditions. GA3 specifically reduced the number of days required for flowering, and Gapol(R), or long days, favored bud retention. When combined, only a slight additive effect was observed. In most cases spraying the products on plants subjected to long days resulted in an increase in the number of floral buds, but their attachment to the plant was mainly influenced by the presence of Gapol(R).  相似文献

Plants from 6 potato cultivars uniformly infected with potato virus X (PVX) were exposed to darkness and gradual temperature increases from 37 to 40 C, during a two-week period. This was followed by shoot tip culture to obtain virus free individuals. The procedure was effective in obtaining PVX-free propagation material from 4 of the 6 varieties. Differences were observed in the response of the cultivars to the heat and to thein vitro culture. At least one plant from every cultivar showed repeated negative serological reaction against PVX after the tissue culture regeneration, except Atzimba and Montsama. Tollocan and Murca were the most resistant to heat, developed better duringin vitro culture and resulted in the largest number of PVX-negative plants. Rosita was intermediate, and Juanita did not adapt to heat stress.  相似文献

Enteral formulas (EF) are complex food systems which have all the nutrients in their matrix for the complete human nourishment. However, there are components in EF which can interact with minerals, reducing their absorption, and thereof the EF nutritional quality. The effect of soy protein (SP) and Ca content on Fe, Zn, and Ca bioaccessibility and protein digestibility (%DP) was assessed using a response surface design in EF. Tested SP levels were 2.5–5.0 g/100 mL of total protein. Ca levels were adjusted with Ca citrate within a range between 50 and 100 mg/100 mL. SP content negatively influenced %DP and Fe, Zn and Ca bioaccessibility. As SP content increased, mineral bioaccessibility and %DP decreased, probably due to the increased levels of phytic acid and trypsin inhibitors from SP. Ca content only affected %DCa, which had a direct relationship with Ca levels, while did not affect Fe and Zn bioaccessibility or %DP. Since Ca citrate did not impair Fe and Zn bioaccessibility, it could be an appropriate Ca source for EF fortification.  相似文献

The high and low Mr glutenin subunit compositions (controlled by the Glu-1 loci and the Glu-B3 locus, respectively) and the bread-making quality characteristics of 26 durum wheat (Triticum turgidum) genotypes were determined. The relationships between quality parameters and Glu-B1 and Glu-B3 controlled glutenin subunit composition were also investigated. The Glu-A1-controlled null allele was present in all the genotypes. High Mr subunits 20, 6 + 8 and 7 + 8 occurred in similar proportions in the cultivars analysed. The Glu-B3 low Mr allelic variants, LMW-1 and LMW-2, were both represented, with LMW-1 being present in lower proportion. Flour protein, SDS-sedimentation volume, dough strength (Alveograph W value), dough mixing time and bread loaf volume varied among the genotypes. Most samples had high Alveograph tenacity/extensibility (P/G) ratios, typical of tenacious gluten character. SDS-sedimentation volume, dough strength, dough mixing time and bread loaf volume were all interrelated. An association with flour protein content was observed only for mixing time, while the Alveograph tenacity/extensibility ratio was not correlated with the other parameters. Comparisons within the Glu-B1 and Glu-B3 loci indicated that the high Mr subunit 7 + 8 and the low Mr subunit LMW-2 had significantly greater beneficial effects on gluten strength and bread-making quality than the high Mr subunits 6 + 8 or 20 and the low Mr subunit LMW-1, respectively. High Mr subunit 6 + 8 had greater beneficial effects on quality than subunit 20.  相似文献
