A Weibull proportional hazards model was applied to evaluate the effects of 18 linear type traits on the functional length of productive life in Holstein cattle of Iran. Culling data and classification scores on 44,179 cows with first calving from 1996 to 2004 were used. The data included up to 55% of censored records. Length of productive life was defined as the number of days from first calving until last test day or censoring. The significance of each type trait was tested by a likelihood ratio test comparing the full model (with one particular type trait) with reduced models (without any of the type traits). Analyses were performed for each type trait one at a time which included as a covariate in the model. The strongest relationship between length of productive life and type traits were found for fore udder attachment, udder depth, udder cleft angularity and loin strength. Body traits except angularity had minimal effect on functional longevity. Some traits such as udder depth, rear legs side view and foot angle showed an intermediate optimum with respect to longevity and extreme scores of these traits increased risk of involuntary culling. Results of the present study showed that improvement of conformation traits, which is more associated with functional longevity, is a useful way to increase functional length of productive life.  相似文献

Fish lipids are known to be beneficial for human health since they are rich in eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). This benefit can be affected by some processing or cooking methods. The effects of different cooking methods on lipid content and fatty acid composition of different fish species have been previously studied. In this article, the fish lipid characteristics and their changes during different cooking methods were reviewed. The fat content and fatty acid composition of fish vary according to the species, season, and environmental conditions. The fish lipid characteristics also change during different cooking processes. Frying generally gives higher changes in the fish lipid composition than other cooking methods. For example, frying results in higher losses of DHA and EPA (compared to other cooking methods). Further, the lipid changes occurring during frying depend on the fat content of the fish, the frying oil composition, and the type of frying technology.  相似文献

In this study, the feasibility of using pomegranate seed oil, rich in conjugated linolenic acid and its partial replacement for fish oil in fish diet were investigated. Common carp, Cyprinus carpio, juveniles (1.8 ± 0.1 g) were fed four isonitrogenous and isolipidic diets with similar basal composition but different oil mixture containing 100% fish oil (A), 50% fish oil +50% sunflower oil (B), 50% fish oil +25% sunflower oil +25% pomegranate seed oil (C) and 50% fish oil +50% pomegranate seed oil (D) for 8 weeks. The highest weight gain was observed in fish fed diet D (p < 0.05). Test diets had no significant effect (p > 0.05) on saturated and monounsaturated fatty acid contents of fish muscle. Docosahexaenoic acid (22:6n‐3; DHA) was significantly lower in the muscle of fish fed diet B (p < 0.05) compared to those fed diet A. However, there was no significant difference in the muscle DHA content of fish fed diets A, C, or D. No specific hepatocyte damage associated to dietary pomegranate seed oil was found in this study. This study showed a 50‐50 combination of fish oil and pomegranate seed oil could be used as dietary lipid source for common carp without any adverse effect on growth performance or muscle n‐3 content while accumulated punicic acid in the muscle could be considered as added value for the final human consumer.  相似文献

Vitrification is the commonly used method for long-term storage of pre-implantation mammalian embryos. It is an essential part of assisted reproductive technologies. The re-expansion rate, pregnancy and birth rate of vitrified blastocysts using CPS were compared with OPS and Conventional Straw. Female NMRI mice were injected with Gonadotrophins in order induce them for super ovulation. At that time the mice were sacrified by cervical dislocation and dissected of mouse abdomen. The uterine horns were existed blastocysts were collected in PBS and randomly allocated to four groups: vitrification in CPS, conventional straw, OPS and untreated controls. The vitrification solution was EFS40%. After storage for 1 month in liquid nitrogen, the blastocysts were thawed in 0.5 M sucrose for in vitro culture in M16 medium. After 6 h of culture, the numbers of expanded blastocysts was recorded and ready for transfer to uterus of pseudo pregnant mouse. The re-expansion rate of the CPS group (72.1%) was significantly higher (p < 0.05) than OPS (52.55) and C.S. (38.6%) groups. The pregnancy (70%) and birth rate (45%) of blastocysts in CPS were similar to those of fresh blastocysts (80% and 45.5%) and the pregnancy (10%) and birth rate (5.1%) in Conventional Straws lower than OPS (20 and 7.5%), but were not significantly different. Mouse blastocysts vitrified using CPS had a better result compared with OPS and Conventional Straw. The value of CPS for vitrification of blastocysts may also merit investigation.  相似文献

In order to make the sampling procedure more efficient and more accurate to study the tree species richness and canopy cover, the appropriate plot size was calculated in the this study. The sampling was carried out using 48 four-hectare plots, each with 13 sub-plots of different plot sizes and 7 one-hectare plots, each with 7 sub-plots. The result of this study showed that 300 ARE plot size was determined as the best area for 1-5% density class, 125 ARE plots for 5-10% class, 150 ARE for 10-25% class, 100 ARE for 25-50% class and 75 ARE plot size to sample >50% density class, in 95% confidence level. Consequently, using 100 ARE sampling plots is suggested for all density classes in central Zagros forests.  相似文献

Background

The aim of this study was to fabricate the poly caprolactone (PCL) aligned nanofiber scaffold and to evaluate the survival, adhesion, proliferation, and differentiation of rat hair follicle stem cells (HFSC) in the graft material using electrospun PCL nanofiber scaffold for tissue engineering applications.

Methods

The bulge region of rat whisker was isolated and cultured in DMEM: nutrient mixture F-12 supplemented with epidermal growth factor. The morphological and biological features of cultured bulge cells were observed by light microscopy using immunocytochemistry methods. Electrospinning was used for production of PCL nanofiber scaffolds. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), 3-(4, 5-di-methylthiazol- 2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay, and histology analysis were used to investigate the cell morphology, viability, attachment and infiltration of the HFSC on the PCL nanofiber scaffolds.

Results

The results of the MTT assay showed cell viability and cell proliferation of the HFSC on PCL nanofiber scaffolds. SEM microscopy images indicated that HFSC are attached, proliferated and spread on PCL nanofiber scaffolds. Also, immunocytochemical analysis showed cell infiltration and cell differentiation on the scaffolds.

Conclusion

The results of this study reveal that PCL nanofiber scaffolds are suitable for cell culture, proliferation, differentiation and attachment. Furthermore, HFSC are attached and proliferated on PCL nanofiber scaffolds.Key Words: Nanofiber, Electrospinning, Stem cells, Tissue engineering  相似文献

Paclobutrazol (PBZ) is a member of the triazole plant growth inhibitor group that is responsible for inducing tolerance to a number of biotic and abiotic stresses. An experiment was, therefore, conducted to test whether PBZ application at various concentrations (0, 25, 50, or 75 mg L?1) through foliar spray or soil drench would protect pomegranate (Punica granatum) seedlings cv. Robab, subjected to freezing at ?3°C for 7 hours. PBZ improved the growth rate of pomegranate seedlings subjected to freezing stress and increased relative leaf chlorophyll content, chlorophyll fluorescence ratio, relative water content, soluble carbohydrate content, and enzyme activity of ascorbate peroxidase and guaiacol peroxidase compared with the control at the end of experiment. PBZ ameliorated the injury caused by freezing stress by inhibiting increases in proline content and leaf electrolyte leakage, which suggested that PBZ ameliorated the negative effect of freezing stress. The best protection was obtained from plants treated with PBZ at 50 or 75 mg L?1. The most evaluated parameters were not affected by PBZ application method.  相似文献

The inclusion of antioxidants (AOXs) has been proposed in various protocols to conserve the normal physiology of spermatozoa during (cryo) preservation. The main aim of this review was to understand the necessity of AOXs inclusion in semen extenders of caprine and ovine semen samples and to decipher physico-chemical space of AOXs used in semen extenders till now. A total 27 full-text relevant articles were finally discussed here. This systematic review showed that the inclusion of AOXs may improve the success of semen cryopreservation although at least three studies could not support this finding. AOXs have been not added after assaying total antioxidant capacity of the sample of interest, and this is principal measurement bias of all papers. Furthermore, no rational dose–response curve and precise posology have been considered in comparable studies. Furthermore, new methodologies are requested to detect the oxidative status of semen specimens before AXOs fortification and new methodologies like imaging are also needed to detect various injuries of sperms during semen (cryo)preservation. Defining computational chemical and physical spaces of AOXs which used in semen (cryo)preservation would be an interdisciplinary effort to hasten deciphering epoch-making compounds. In conclusion, more in-depth analytical, toxicological and pharmacological methodologies should be pursued in supplementation or addition of AOXs during caprine and ovine semen (cryo)preservation after determining the oxidative status of semen samples.  相似文献

Tomato serves as a model to introduce agronomically important genes into dicotyledonous crop plants and to develop edible vaccines and produce cost-effective therapeutics. This study has developed an efficient protocol of shoot organogenesis for Lycopersicon esculentum Mill. through using of different types of explants and growth regulators. Generally, all explants responded significantly to presence of BAP. Best shoot regeneration for leaf (100%) was achieved on MS supplemented with BAP (2 mg/L) + IAA (0.1 mg/L), whereas it was recorded on MS supplemented with BAP (2 mg/L) and BAP (2 mg/L) + IAA (0.5 mg/L) for cotyledons (95%). In addition, hypocotyls (77%) showed the best shoot response on MS supplemented BAP (3 mg/L). Highest number of shoots per explant was 13.33, 12.25, 7.94 respectively for hypocotyls, leaves, cotyledons. The best medium for highest length of shoot was in the presence of BAP (3 and 2 mg/L) + IAA (0.1 mg/L) respectively for hypocotyl (45 mm) and leaf (40.50 mm) explants. This parameter was achieved for cotyledons (13.32 and 12.5 mm) on MS medium supplemented with BAP (3 and 2) mg/L + IAA (0.1 mg/L), respectively. The increasing of BAP concentration up to 3 (mg/L) causes shoot length to continue developing, but it fell down in the presence of BAP (4 mg/L) due to the toxic effect of growth regulators accumulation. Root formation took place within 10–14 days after culturing on the rooting media. Best root induction (100%) was observed on MS medium supplemented with IAA (0.1 and 0.2 mg/L). All rooted shoots acclimated in phytotron and then cultivated in the greenhouse.  相似文献
