The objective of the present study was to evaluate the effectiveness of enrofloxacin (ERFX) as a second‐line antibiotic for treatment of acute Escherichia coli (E. coli) mastitis. Forty‐two cows with naturally occurring acute E. coli mastitis were enrolled. On the first day of treatment (day 0), empirically selected antibiotics (oxytetracycline: n = 32, kanamycin: n = 10) were administered. Although systemic signs improved in 10 cows (first‐line group), the signs remained unchanged or worsened in 32 cows on day 1, including two cows that were found dead. The 30 surviving cows were randomly assigned to second‐line groups constituting an ERFX group (n = 19) or a control group (n = 11) that was treated with other antibiotics. Response to each treatment was evaluated by measuring clinical signs from day 0 to day 3, subsequent quarter milk recovery, and the 60‐day survival rate. Appetite on day 3 was significantly better in the ERFX group compared to the control group. No significant differences were observed in the 60‐day survival rate or the subsequent milk recovery between the ERFX group and the control group. Thus, the use of ERFX as a second‐line antibiotic for the treatment of acute E. coli mastitis could induce a rapid appetite recovery.  相似文献

To elucidate the formation and chemical structures of water-soluble material in acid-soluble lignin (ASL), lignin aromatic nuclei model compounds of creosol (I) and 5-methoxycreosol (II) were reacted with xylose or xylan in the presence of apocynol as a counterpart for condensation in 72% sulfuric acid (SA). The reaction of I gave mainly condensation product. However, the condensation reaction of II with apocynol was suppressed because of steric hindrance from the methoxyl group, and II yielded a C-xyloside after refluxing in 3% SA together with condensation products. To obtain information on CHCl3-soluble material in ASL, model compounds of arylglycerol--aryl ethers with guaiacyl (VIII) and syringyl (X) nuclei were treated by the Klason procedure. VIII gave only insoluble polymerized product, while X gave insoluble polymerized product and CHCl3-soluble low molecular weight products, which were dissolved in 3% SA. These results prove earlier views that water-soluble material in ASL consists of condensation products formed from syringyl lignin and monosaccharide units in hemicellulose. To utilize acid hydrolysis lignin effectively, chemical conversion to anion-exchange resin was investigated by two methods. Sulfuric acid lignin (SAL) was selected as a typical acid hydrolysis lignin in this experiment. Because it is less reactive, SAL was phenolated with sulfuric acid catalyst to yield reactive phenolized SAL (P-SAL) with p-hydroxyphenyl nuclei. One method was the restricted resinification of P-SAL followed by the Mannich reaction with formaldehyde and dimethylamine to yield a weakly basic anion-exchange resin with an ion-exchange capacity of 2.4mEq/g. Another method was to react resinified P-SAL with glycidyltrimethylammonium chloride to yield a strongly basic anion-exchange resin with an ion-exchange capacity of 2.0mEq/g. The reaction of a simple P-SAL model compound with an epoxide suggested that the phenolic hydroxyl group of the p-hydroxyphenyl nucleus had slightly higher reactivity than that of the guaiacyl nucleus.Part of this report was presented at the 47th Lignin Symposium, Fukuoka, October 2002  相似文献

 The chemical conversion of phenolized sulfuric acid lignin (P-SAL), prepared from sulfuric acid lignin (SAL) by phenolation with sulfuric acid catalyst, to novel cationic surfactant was investigated. To elucidate the chemical reactivity of the P-SAL to a Mannich reaction, 1-guaiacyl-1-p-hydroxyphenylethane (I) as a simple phenolized sulfuric acid lignin model compound was reacted with dimethylamine and formaldehyde. Quantitative analysis of the products by gas-liquid chromatography suggested that the p-hydroxyphenyl nucleus was more reactive than the guaiacyl nucleus. The Mannich reaction of SAL with dimethylamine did not yield a soluble cationic surfactant, but P-SAL produced water-soluble cationic surfactant in a quantitative yield. The Mannich reaction products (MP-SAL) of P-SAL had 1,3-dimethylaminomethyl groups/C9-C6. The results of the surface tension measurements showed that the decrease in surface tension of MP-SAL was much larger than that of lignosulfonate as a commercial surfactant from lignin. Summary As a reagent source for the formalization of wood, trioxane was used instead of conventional paraformaldehyde. From preliminary experiments it became apparent that trioxane depolymerizes to formaldehyde by heating in the presence of some metallic salts. Formalization of wood with trioxane was carried out under the catalysis of sulfur dioxide (SO2) along with these salts. The hygroscopic and acoustic properties were considerably improved by the treatment. Especially when the reaction was catalyzed by a combination of SO2 and Fe2(SO4)3, the antiswelling efficiency (ASE) reached nearly 70%, the specific dynamic Young's modulus (E/) in the radial direction increased about 20%, and the loss tangent (tan ) decreased about 30% and 50% in the longitudinal and radial directions, respectively. In this case, the modulus of rupture did not appreciably decrease in the radial direction. This is comparable to the most prominent results obtained so far by SO2 catalyzed formalization with tetraoxane. It can be concluded that trioxane is very effective as a reagent source for formalization. The increase in acoustic converting efficiency, , of about twofold in the radial direction and decrease in hygroscopicity of more than 60% should not only enrich the sound volume of musical instruments but also stabilize their tone quality against humidity changes.  相似文献

Age-associated changes of visual evoked potentials by flash stimulation (flash VEP) were evaluated in 53 beagle dogs aged from 1- to 15-year-old. Among the components of flash VEP consisted of 3 positive (P1, P2 and P3) and 2 negative (N1 and N2) peaks by 150 msec, the latency of P2 and the later peaks (N2 and P3) were significantly delayed with aging. Both amplitudes of the P2-N2 and N2-P3 also showed a significant correlation with aging. The flash VEP is considered to be an available and useful technique to evaluate not only for visual pathway, but also some disturbance of neurological functions, like as those reported in demented human.  相似文献

We established the method of isolating individually encapsulated germinal centers (GCs) from immunized spleen and analyzed single cell suspension of GCs by flowcytometry. In GCs, the high frequency of sIgG+ cells (29%) and sIgA+ cells (5%) was detected. Two-color flowcytometry analysis showed that GCs contained 27% of sIgM-IgG+ cells, in which isotype switch from IgM to IgG had occurred, and 5% of Bu1-IgG+ cells, which were differentiating into plasma cells. On the other hand, sIgM-IgG+ and Bu1-IgG+ cells were not detected in the bursa, which contained 95% of B cells and only 1% of T cells. CD4+ but not CD8+ T cells were detected in the light zone of GCs and these CD4+ T cells are supposed to play a key role in isotype switching and differentiation into plasma cells in GCs. These results clearly demonstrate that GCs provide a site for isotype switching and differentiation into plasma cells.  相似文献

Infiltrative lymphocytic mural folliculitis (ILMF) is a histopathological reaction pattern reported to occur in a small number of equine inflammatory dermatoses. However, the prevalence of ILMF in a variety of equine dermatoses has not been reported. Skin biopsy specimens from 250 horses with inflammatory dermatoses and from 27 horses with physically healthy skin were therefore evaluated. ILMF was present in 82% of the diseased skin specimens examined. ILMF was not seen in physically healthy skin. It appears that ILMF is frequently seen in a wide variety of equine inflammatory dermatoses and therefore is of little diagnostic significance. However, ILMF is not seen in physically healthy equine skin and the presence of lymphocytes in equine hair follicle epithelium should therefore be considered abnormal.  相似文献

The goal of this study was to assess if oxidative stress, as measured by alterations in the concentrations of antioxidant enzymes in the liver and erythrocytes of cattle, could be induced following dl-ethionine administration. Whole blood, serum and liver biopsy samples were collected 0, 4, 7 and 10 days after intra-peritoneal ethionine administration to five cows. The activities of the antioxidant enzymes copper zinc superoxide dismutase (Cu, Zn SOD) and catalase were assessed in the liver biopsies which were also examined histopathologically.Significant increases in hepatic Cu, Zn SOD concentrations (P < 0.01) were noted on days 7 and 10 post-treatment. Hepatic catalase activity decreased significantly (P < 0.01) on days 4, 7 and 10 post-treatment and erythrocyte Cu, Zn SOD activity was significantly increased on day 10. Serum biochemical analysis revealed a significant increase (P < 0.01) in non-esterified fatty acid concentrations on day 4 and significant decreases in total cholesterol and phospholipid levels on days 4 (P < 0.05), 7 (P < 0.01) and 10 (P < 0.01). In this model system, dl-ethionine administration was effective in inducing oxidative stress particularly reflected in the liver.  相似文献

A total of 444 samples of raw chicken meat (thighs, breasts, wings, livers, gizzards, hearts and ovaries) that retailed at 145 different supermarkets in 47 prefectures in Japan were examined for contamination with Staphylococcus aureus in association with its enterotoxigenicity. S. aureus was isolated from 292 (65.8%) of the samples, and from 131 of the 145 supermarkets. There was no significant difference in the detection rate of S. aureus according to the type of meat examined. About 80% of 714 isolates belonged to the poultry (57.1%) and human biotypes (22.1%). Seventy-eight (21.7%) of 360 isolates were enterotoxigenic and isolated from 78 samples in 53 supermarkets in 31 prefectures. Staphylococcal enterotoxins (SEs) produced were SEB (50 isolates), SEA (14), SEC (8), SED (2), SEA+SEB (2), and SEA+SEC (2). Most of the enterotoxigenic isolates belonged to the human and poultry biotypes, coagulase type VII, VIII or IV, and were lysed by phages of group III. Identical SE types, biotypes, coagulase types and pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) patterns were shown in isolates from different types of meat at the same supermarket and from samples taken from different supermarkets in the same prefectures or in isolates from samples obtained from several different prefectures. Among the 50 SEB-producing isolates, 27 yielded three similar PFGE patterns that differed by only a few fragments, suggesting that they were closely related genetically. The three patterns were found in isolates of samples that retailed at 17 supermarkets in 11 prefectures, indicating that they may be disseminated among raw chicken meat in Japan.  相似文献
