Genome-wide search for segregation distortion loci associated with the expression of complex traits in Populus tomentosa

Segregation distortion of molecular markers has been reported in a broad range of organisms. It has been detected in an interspecific BC1 Populus pedigree established by controlled crossing between clone “LM50” (Populus tomentosa) and its hybrid clone “TB01” (P. tomentosa×P. bolleana). The study with a total of 150 AFLP markers (approximately 18.9% of the total loci) exhibited significant deviation from the Mendelian ratio (1:1) (p<0.01). Twenty-five percent of the markers were mapped on the pa-rental specific genetic linkage maps of clones “LM50” and “TB01” with a pseudo-test-cross mapping strategy. Twelve linkage groups had markers with skewed segregation ratios, but the major regions were on linkage groups TLG2, TLG4 and TLG6 in the linkage map of clone “LM50”. We also analyzed the association between distorted loci and expression of complex traits with Map-maker/QTL software. A total of 16 putative QTLs affecting 12 traits were identified in the distorted regions on seven linkage groups. Therefore we could detect the distribution of skewed loci along the entire genome and identify the association between quantitative traits and segregation loci via genetic mapping in an interspecific BC1 P. tomentosa family. Furthermore, the genetic nature and pos-sible causes of these segregation distortions for differentiation between female and male parents were also discussed.

Effect of corticosteroid on porcine leukocytes: age-related effects of corticosteroid inhibition on porcine lymphocyte responses to mitogens

The effects of prednisolone sodium succinate on the responses of porcine lymphocytes to phytohemagglutinin (PHA) and pokeweed mitogen (PWM) were investigated. Sensitivity of peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL) to the synthetic glucocorticoid, prednisolone, was related to age of the lymphocyte donor. The greatest sensitivity was found in PBL from animals less than one week old; PBL from animals between 2 to 4 months retained some glucocorticoid sensitive cells; whereas, PBL from animals older than 6 months were exceptionally resistant to steroid. Similar age-associated sensitivities were found for lymphocytes from lymph node, spleen and thymus. Significant differential sensitivities among the various lymphoid organs were found with the thymic lymphocyte possessing the greatest sensitivity to steroid and the PBL lymph node and splenic lymphocytes possessing the highest resistance to the suppressive effects of steroid. The age related differences in sensitivity to steroid did not appear to be caused by differences in the number of steroid receptors because lymphocytes from susceptible and resistant animals had similar numbers of receptors. The results suggest that the age related sensitivity may be associated with a higher percentage of sensitive thymic-derived lymphocyte in the PBL, lymph node and spleen of the younger animals. Results of this study also suggest that the adult pig (6 months) should be classified as a steroid resistant species.

3%辛硫磷微胶囊种衣剂对玉米的安全性研究

用包衣量为1：15～1：75的3％辛硫磷微胶囊种衣剂进行玉米室内发芽试验，结果证明其对当地主栽玉米品种的发芽、成苗安全；通过对不同叶龄玉米植株叶面喷雾的室内、外试验，表明该药剂剂型对玉米的叶面接触安全性高于同剂量的乳油。     

郁金香花芽分化的解剖学研究

利用石蜡切片法研究了郁金香花芽分化的进程及温度变化对花芽分化的影响。结果表明：郁金香鳞茎内顶端生长点的分化过程可以分为营养生长期，生殖茎端形成期，花器官分化期，花器官伸长期４个时期花芽分化从７月上旬开始，８肿旬结束。在贮藏期间，郁金香鳞茎内顶端生长点前期发育速度较慢，后期发育速度较快，并按由外向内的顺序进行。     

不同密度对棉花群体冠层结构及微环境的影响

以湘杂棉8号为试材．对不同种植密度处理下棉花的叶面积、群体冠层内的温度、湿度及光分布的情况进行分析。结果表明：密度处理对棉花上述几项指标均有影响，从构建良好的群体结构角度看，以30000株，hm^2最佳，39000株，hm^2次之。建议鄱阳湖棉区最佳种植密度为30000—39000株，hm^2。     

Effects of multiple dose infections with Ascaris suum on blood gastrointestinal hormone levels in pigs

Ten consecutive daily doses of infective Ascaris suum eggs were administered to pigs in two experiments and the levels of gastrointestinal hormones in their blood were measured. The piglets in each experiment were divided into low-dose (LDI) and high-dose (HDI) infections and control groups. Infected pigs had lower feed consumption, lower weight gains, and lower feed efficiency than control pigs. Serum gastrin levels in infected pigs were significantly lower than the controls from Days 7 to 17 post first inoculation (PFI), and so were their serum glucagon levels from Days 12 to 24 PFI. Serum insulin levels in infected animals were sometimes lower than those in controls. These differences were usually more intense in the LDI pigs than in HDI pigs. The plasma cholecystokinin (CCK) levels in the LDI group were significantly higher than those in controls from Day 10 PFI to the end of the experiment, while the CCK levels in the HDI group did not differ significantly from the controls. Increased plasma CCK levels could be a satiety factor in A. suum infection since the time of occurrence of high levels of CCK matched the period of reduced feed consumption.
