Summary The reactions of 233 Triticum dicoccoides acessions, collected at 10 sites in Israel and elsewhere, to infection with cultures of Erysiphe graminis tritici, were determined. The reactions indicated that the number of sources of resistance to E. graminis tritici which can be obtained from T. dicoccoides plants growing wild in Israel and elsewhere is almost unlimited. One hundred and fourteen or 49% of the accessions were resistant, and 137 or 59% of the accessions were resistant or moderately resistant to infection with four cultures of E. graminis tritici which possess the virulence genes corresponding to most of the identified resistance genes in wheat. Accessions collected at sites with marginal habitats where T. dicoccoides grows poorly and has lower grain weight, were more susceptible than were accessions collected at sites with an optimal habitat for growth of T. dicoccoides. The results agreed with those in a previous study with Hordeum spontaneum, and indicate that to obtain H. spontaneum or T. dicoccoides accessions with the highest level of resistance to the powdery mildew pathogens, plants should be collected at sites in ecological and geographic regions where those two species occupy optimum habitats and are exposed to the powdery mildew pathogens.  相似文献

Translocated (oxalate-soluble) Al and Fe are present predominantly in inorganic forms in the B2 horizons of the five pcdzol profiles examined: A1 as imogolite and proto-imogolite allophanes, and Fe as a separate oxide phase. Below the top few cm of the B2 horizon, over 75 per cent of the extractable (acid-plus alkali-soluble) organic matter is present as Al-fulvates, largely sorbed on allophanic material. The Bh horizons of the Iron Humus Podzol and Iron Podzol intergrades are distinguished by very high levels of organically bound Fe (soluble in EDTA solution), five to ten times more than in immediately adjacent A2 or B2 horizons, and also by larger humic acid contents than in comparable B2, levels in typical Iron Podzols. Inorganic forms of translocated Al and Fe are probably absent from two of the three Bh horizons examined, and also from the Bhg horizon overlying the thin iron pan in the Peaty Podzol. The organic matter in this Bhg horizon is saturated with Al rather than Fe. Chemical and physical processes which could lead to evolution of a profile along the genetic sequence, Iron Podzol, Iron Humus Podzol, Peaty Podzol, are postulated. During the formation of an Iron Podzol, positively charged inorganic sols carry aluminium, silicon and iron from the A2 and deposit them in the B2 horizon; subsequently, with the development of an H layer, colloidal humus migrates through the A2 and precipitates on the positive colloids at the top of the B2 horizon to form a Bh horizon, in which remobilized ferric species are trapped by the organic matter. In higher rainfall areas, occasional waterlogging above the oxide-impregnated B2 leads to a thin iron pan, separating permanently oxidizing conditions below from seasonally waterlogged and reducing conditions above.  相似文献

The rate of transformation of inorganic phosphorus fractions and forms was investigated in a chronosequence of weakly weathered soils developed on windblown sand. The net decline of acid-extractable Ca-P during 104 years of soil development was approximately 2600 kg/ha m profile. This fraction was progressively removed from surface horizons and had virtually disappeared from the oldest soil. Residual inorganic P, considered to be included apatite which is not extracted by 0·5 and 1N HC1, was relatively constant in profiles of the chronosequence but decreased in the oldest soil. In the younger soils, the NH4F-P fraction was low but, with increasing time, the weight of this fraction increased, initially in surface horizons. The net accumulation of non-occluded secondary inorganic P during 104 years was 360 kg/ha m profile and this was largely due to an increase in the NH4F-P, rather than the 1st NaOH-P fraction. There was no net shift from non-occluded to occluded secondary inorganic P. Although apatite is initially present as inclusions within primary minerals in the wind-blown sand, an extensive loss of P has occurred during 104 years.  相似文献

Hydroxy Fe and A1 interlayers reduce the swelling of Na-montmorillonite in NaCl solutions. A deposit of sesquioxide round an aggregate or orientated flake of clay restricts swelling until the sesquioxide coating is broken by the swelling pressure of the clay. A1 is more effective than Fe. The effect of sesquioxides on the permeability to NaCl solutions of an alkali soil depends on the control of clay swelling in a manner expected from the above results. A sesquioxide coating round a soil aggregate stabilizes the structure until the coating is broken by the swelling pressure of the clay in the aggregate.  相似文献

The main objectives of this study was to evaluate the effect of partial and total replacement of fishmeal protein by okara meal (OM) protein in practical diets on growth performance, feed utilization and body composition of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus L.) mono‐sex males. Fish of an average initial weight of 2.67 ± 0.01 g were stocked in 15 glass aquariums (80 L each) at a rate of 15 fish per aquarium. Fishmeal protein (18% of the diet) was used as the sole source of animal protein in the control diet. Percent replacement of fish meal (FM) by OM on the basis of crude protein was as follows: 0% (control diet A), 25% (diet B), 50% (diet C), 75% (diet D) and 100% (diet E). Diets were fed to fish at a rate of 5%, and then gradually reduced to 4% of the total fish biomass daily, for a period of 12 weeks. The results revealed that the fish fed diets A (100% FM control), B (25% OM), C (50% OM) and D (75% OM) had significantly the best average body weight, weight gain g, specific growth rate (SGR % day?1), weight gain % and feed intake g fish?1 compared with diet E (100% OM) which had the lowest values. There were no significant differences (P > 0.05) among all experimental diets and control in terms of feed conversion ratio (FCR), protein efficiency ratio (PER) and survival rate %. Whole body protein contents for fish fed diets B, C and D were superior to the control diet. Incorporation of OM in the diets increased significantly whole body fat content. Incorporation of OM in the diets significantly increased apparent digestibility coefficient of crude protein crude fat and energy. Therefore, these findings suggest that up to 75% of FM protein can be replaced by OM protein in Nile tilapia, mono‐sex male diets.  相似文献

A GnRH antagonist (Acyline) was used to study the role of FSH in early development of a follicular wave in 61 mares. In Experiment 1, a single dose of 3 mg per mare, compared with 0 and 1 mg, suppressed both the FSH and follicle responses to exogenous GnRH. In Experiment 2, high concentrations of FSH were induced by two successive ablations of all follicles ≥ 6 mm on days 10 and 13 (day 0 = ovulation). A single treatment with Acyline resulted in significantly greater suppression of plasma concentrations of FSH than a single treatment with charcoal-extracted follicular fluid (source of inhibin) or oestradiol. Suppression of FSH was not significantly different between the group treated with Acyline alone and a group treated with a combination of Acyline, inhibin and oestradiol. In Experiment 3, all follicles were ablated on day 10 to induce an FSH surge and a new follicular wave. Acyline treatment on day 10 resulted in an immediate decrease in FSH, without a significant effect on day of emergence of a new wave or growth of follicles from 7 to 11 mm on days 11–13. Treatment on day 15, a day before expected follicle deviation and after the peak of the wave-stimulating FSH surge, resulted in an immediate decrease in FSH and cessation of follicle growth. Results indicated that growth of follicles for about 2 days after wave emergence was independent of FSH. In contrast, during the decline in the wave-stimulating FSH surge and before follicle deviation, growth of follicles was dependent on FSH.  相似文献

Doppler data generated with the Pioneer 10 spacecraft's radio carrier wave between 1987 and 1995 show a 25.3-day periodicity which is related to the solar rotation. The timing data of the pulsar PSR B1257+12 also show a periodicity of 25.34 days, which has been explained as a signature of the pulsar's barycentric motion in response to the existence of a small moon-like object. However, because PSR B1257+12 is located close to the ecliptic and because the timing variations are in the range of microseconds, it is likely that the pulsar signal is affected by the same mechanism acting on the Pioneer 10 Doppler data. Hence, the hypothesized inner planet around PSR B1257+12 is probably an artifact of the heliosphere.  相似文献
