The current study investigated the possibility of using the AMH concentration as a predictor of the ability of Korean Hanwoo cows to produce cumulus‐oocyte complexes, embryos that survive after transfer as well as the pregnancy outcome of surrogates. Eight sessions of ovum pick‐up (OPU) were performed with 19 donor cows at an interval of 3–4 days. Antral follicle count (AFC), oocyte quality and in vitro embryo development were recorded for each cow. Embryos produced from cows with different AMH profiles were transferred into recipients (n = 96). Cows in the high (≥0.25 ng/ml) and intermediate (0.1≥ to <0.25 ng/ml) AMH groups had a significantly higher AFC per OPU session (20.40 ± 1.36 and 16.91 ± 1.52, respectively; mean ± standard deviation) than cows in the low AMH group (<0.1 ng/ml; 12.19 ± 2.14). In addition, more cumulus‐oocyte complexes per donor were recovered in the high (11.46 ± 1.22) and intermediate (7.38 ± 0.83) AMH groups than in the low AMH group (4.77 ± 0.44). The percentage of oocytes reached blastocyst stage was significantly higher in the intermediate (47.0%) and high (38.5%) AMH groups than in the low AMH group (32.3%). The number of embryos produced per cow was higher in the high (3.9 ± 0.2) and intermediate (6.9 ± 0.6) AMH groups than in the low AMH group (2.2 ± 0.3). The percentage of embryos that gave birth to viable calves when transferred into recipients was higher for those derived from cows in the intermediate AMH group (50.7%) than for those derived from cows in the low (35.7%) and high (36.4%) AMH groups. In conclusion, a single measurement of AMH concentration predicted the in vitro embryo production potential of donor Korean native cows before OPU and is linked with embryo viability after transfer into recipients.  相似文献

Equine influenza virus (EIV) surveillance is important in the management of equine influenza. It provides data on circulating and newly emerging strains for vaccine strain selection. To this end, antigenic characterisation by haemaggluttination inhibition (HI) assay and phylogenetic analysis was carried out on 28 EIV strains isolated in North America and Europe during 2006 and 2007. In the UK, 20 viruses were isolated from 28 nasopharyngeal swabs that tested positive by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. All except two of the UK viruses were characterised as members of the Florida sublineage with similarity to A/eq/Newmarket/5/03 (clade 2). One isolate, A/eq/Cheshire/1/06, was characterised as an American lineage strain similar to viruses isolated up to 10 years earlier. A second isolate, A/eq/Lincolnshire/1/07 was characterised as a member of the Florida sublineage (clade 1) with similarity to A/eq/Wisconsin/03. Furthermore, A/eq/Lincolnshire/1/06 was a member of the Florida sublineage (clade 2) by haemagglutinin (HA) gene sequence, but appeared to be a member of the Eurasian lineage by the non-structural gene (NS) sequence suggesting that reassortment had occurred. A/eq/Switzerland/P112/07 was characterised as a member of the Eurasian lineage, the first time since 2005 that isolation of a virus from this lineage has been reported. Seven viruses from North America were classified as members of the Florida sublineage (clade 1), similar to A/eq/Wisconsin/03. In conclusion, a variety of antigenically distinct EIVs continue to circulate worldwide. Florida sublineage clade 1 viruses appear to predominate in North America, clade 2 viruses in Europe.  相似文献

Interference fringes in vibrating molecules are a signature of quantum mechanics, but are often so short-lived and closely spaced that they elude visualization. We have experimentally visualized dynamical quantum interferences, which appear and disappear in less than 100 femtoseconds in the iodine molecule synchronously with the periodic crossing of two counterpropagating nuclear wave packets. The obtained images have picometer and femtosecond spatiotemporal resolution, representing a detailed picture of the quantum interference.  相似文献

Summary The accurate identification and classification of wild species enhance the utilization of potential plant genetic resources. The wild rye species Secale vavilovii Grossh. may serve to broaden the genetic variation in cultivated rye, S. cereale. The combined analyses of cytological, isozymic and other genetic characteristics in the present study revealed that of the fourteen rye accessions designated as S. vavilovii, only three accessions were correctly classified. Thus it is essential to increase multidisciplinary, international research and collaboration to aid in the classification and utilization of the yet untapped plant germplasm.  相似文献

A survey of 1592 lakes ( >4 ha and ≤ 2,000 ha) was conducted in Fall, 1984. The study area was three regions of the eastern United States (Northeast, Upper Midwest, and Southeast) expected to contain the most lakes with acid neutralizing capacity (ANC) ≤400 μeq/L. The design of the survey provides statistically reliable estimates of the number, location and chemical characteristics of lakes in the study area. Frequency distribution statistics are presented for pH, ANC, sulfate and organic anion. The highest percentages and numbers of acidic lakes occurred in Florida, the Adirondaks, and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The highest percentages and numbers of lakes with high sulfate concentrations occurred in the Poconos/Catskills, Southern New England and Florida. The highest percentages and numbers of lakes with high organic anion concentrations occurred in Northeastern Minnesota, the Upper Great Lakes Area and Florida. The percentage of acidic lakes by sulfate concentration class revealed no discernable pattern across subregions. In contrast, the acidic lakes occur with the highest frequency in the lowest organic anion concentration class. The complex distribution of low ANC lakes cannot be explained simply by sulfate concentrations or organic acids.  相似文献

Rain water samples were collected over a period of a decade from 1974 in Pune, a city which is relatively free from industrial pollution. They were also collected at 4 places during 1974 in the region of Bombay which is highly industrialized. The samples were analyzed for major chemical components and pH. The ionic balance was computed. Samples were collected at Delhi during 1965 and 1966 and were analyzed for pH. The values were compared with those reported for 1978. The total suspended particulates (TSP) were measured at Delhi during 1980 and analyzed for water soluble components. The rain water at all the places except near the industrial source was not acidic and was characterized by the presence of excess cations, particularly Ca. The acid rain near the industrial source was associated with excess anions, especially sulphate. The difference between the cations and anions was inversely proportional to the H+ ion concentration. The pH of rain water at Delhi which was in the alkaline range during 1965 and 1966 remained alkaline even after a period of 12 yr when the city developed industrially. The TSP in the region was rich with the basic components, mainly Ca, suggesting that the alkaline property of the soil dust is mainly responsible for neutralizing the acidic effects resulting from the anthropogenic gaseous pollutants.  相似文献

The recently discovered three-dimensional or bulk topological insulators are expected to exhibit exotic quantum phenomena. It is believed that a trivial insulator can be twisted into a topological state by modulating the spin-orbit interaction or the crystal lattice, driving the system through a topological quantum phase transition. By directly measuring the topological quantum numbers and invariants, we report the observation of a phase transition in a tunable spin-orbit system, BiTl(S(1-δ)Se(δ))(2), in which the topological state formation is visualized. In the topological state, vortex-like polarization states are observed to exhibit three-dimensional vectorial textures, which collectively feature a chirality transition as the spin momentum-locked electrons on the surface go through the zero carrier density point. Such phase transition and texture inversion can be the physical basis for observing fractional charge (±e/2) and other fractional topological phenomena.  相似文献
