This study evaluated the reproductive performance of gilts inseminated at three intervals before ovulation (0-12, 13-23, 24-30 h) with sperm doses (SD) stored for 0-48 and 96-120 h. A total of 218 PIC Camborough 22 gilts were inseminated once with SD of 1.5 x 10(9) sperms. Pregnant gilts (n = 166) were slaughtered 30.8 +/- 3.7 days after artificial insemination. The number of corpora lutea (CL) and total embryos (TE) was counted. Pregnancy rates (PR) were analysed by chi-square test. TE and embryonic survival (ES), obtained as the ratio between viable embryos and CL, were analysed by GLM procedure (SAS) and mean values were compared by Tukey's test. Pregnancy rate was similar among artificial insemination-ovulation (AIOV) intervals when semen was stored for 0-48 h. However, the lowest PR was observed in the 24-30 h AIOV interval with storage time (ST) of 96-120 h (p < 0.05). There was a significant effect of the interaction between ST and AIOV (p < 0.05) on TE and ES variables. Total embryos and ES did not differ (p > 0.05) among AIOV intervals in ST of 0-48 h. However, gilts inseminated at 24-30 h AIOV interval with ST of 96-120 h showed a reduction of 6.7 embryos (p < 0.05) compared with gilts in the same interval inseminated with semen stored for 0-48 h. ES for the 24-30 h AIOV interval and ST of 96-120 h was lower than that observed in the other groups (p < 0.05). 相似文献
OBJECTIVE: To compare the clinical and clinicopathologic findings in and prognosis for cats with lymphocytic portal hepatitis (LPH) versus cats with acute or chronic cholangiohepatitis (CH). DESIGN: Retrospective study. ANIMALS: 25 cats with LPH; 16 cats with CH (7 acute, 9 chronic). PROCEDURE: Cats with LPH and CH were selected by evaluating records from liver biopsy specimens submitted to the University of Minnesota Veterinary Teaching Hospital during a 10-year period. Clinical and clinicopathologic data were retrieved. RESULTS: Cats with CH had higher segmented and band neutrophil counts, alanine aminotransferase activities, and total bilirubin concentrations than did cats with LPH. Cats with acute CH had higher segmented and band neutrophil counts and lower serum alkaline phosphatase activities and total bilirubin concentrations than did cats with chronic CH. Twelve of 14 cats with LPH or CH had coarse or nodular texture to the liver on ultrasonography, with loss of portal vein wall clarity noticed in 4 of 8 cats with LPH. Sixteen of 23 cats with LPH and 8 of 15 cats with CH survived > 1 year. Of those cats living < 1 year, all cats with LPH and 5 of 7 cats with CH had a serious concurrent illness that may have been responsible for their deaths. CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS: LPH and CH can be detected and tentatively differentiated through evaluation of clinical laboratory test results, but histologic evaluation of liver specimens is necessary for definitive differentiation. Survival time was good regardless of the type of inflammatory liver disease. 相似文献
The plasma pharmacokinetics of benazepril and its active metabolite, benazeprilat, were determined in cats after oral administration of benazepril.HCl at dosages of 0.25, 0.5 and 1.0 mg/kg as a single dose (n = 5 per group) and after once daily application for 8 days (n = 6 per group). Pharmacodynamics were assessed by measurement of plasma angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) activity. After single administration of benazepril.HCl, maximum benazepril concentrations were recorded at the first sample (2 h) and declined relatively rapidly with an elimination half life (t1/2) of 1.4 h. Highest benazeprilat concentrations were recorded at the first sample (2 h) in most cats and declined biphasically with half lives of each phase of 2.4 and 27.7 h. With repeated administration, plasma benazeprilat concentrations accumulated slightly with accumulation ratios (R) of 1.46, 1.36 and 1.24 for the 0.25, 0.5 and 1.0 mg/kg dosages of benazepril.HCl, respectively (median value of 1.36 for all dosages). All three dosages of benazepril.HCl caused marked inhibition of plasma ACE activity in all cats. The maximum effect (Emax, % inhibition of ACE as compared to baseline) was > or = 98% after single and 100% with repeated administration. The duration of action of benazepril.HCl was long, with > 87% (single) and > 90% (repeat) inhibition of plasma ACE persisting 24 h after dosing. Benazepril.HCl was well tolerated in all animals. Dosages of 0.25-1.0 mg/kg benazepril.HCl once daily are recommended for clinical testing in cats. 相似文献
A total of 959 faecal samples were obtained from dogs in 12 native communities in Northern Saskatchewan, Central and Northern Alberta and the Northwest Territories. All samples were examined using a flotation technique. Samples from an area of endemic human amoebic infections were also examined by a formol-ether sedimentation method. Eighteen necropsies were performed.
Entamoeba histolytica cysts were recovered from dog faeces at Loon Lake, Saskatchewan.
Toxocara canis had low incidence in Saskatchewan and Central Alberta, and appeared to be almost non-existent further North. Toxascaris leonina was found in all areas surveyed. Canine hookworm infections were plentiful in all areas, the highest incidence being recorded from Northern Alberta and Northwest Territories. Many Taenia (or Echinococcus) infections were found consistently in all areas. Only one infection with Dipylidium caninum was discovered.
Metorchis conjunctus infections were found to be common in the Saskatchewan reserves. Infections with Diphyllobothrium sp. were found in all communities with access to good fishing. One specimen of Dioctophyma renale was recovered at necropsy.
Infections with parasites of no known zoonotic importance such as Trichuris, Alaria and Isospora species were also recorded.
A total of 55 non-surgical collections, 7 days after spontaneous heat, was made in 19 heifers. Recovery rate was 57% (17/30) from 10 repeat breeder heifers and 72% (18/25) from 9 virgin heifers, this difference was not significant. Fertilization rate in both groups was 94%. The eggs were always recovered in the first 100 ml of flushing medium. Mean lengths of oestrous cycle after non-surgical collection were, respectively, 16.9 and 18.1 days in repeat breeder and virgin heifers. This difference was not significant. However, the cycle in which the first collection was made was significantly shorter (P<.005) than the cycle immediately before the collections. Only 61% of possible eggs were non-surgically collected from 4 superovulated repeat breeder cows and no further eggs were found after slaughter, one to two hours later. 相似文献
