养分从牛粪到农田的循环利用是养牛场可持续发展、资源利用和环境保护的重点研究内容。利用奶牛场废水种植水生植物被认为是一种有效的废水处理及养分循环的方法。本文研究了3种浮萍[少根紫萍0128(Landoltia punctata 0128)、膨胀浮萍7589(Lemna gibba 7589)和小浮萍9517(Lemna minuta 9517)]在厌氧发酵过的奶牛场废水中种植时的养分吸收和生物质变化。在28 d的测试期间,种植在稀释比例为1:18的厌氧发酵过的牛奶场废水中的少根紫萍01283获得最高的总氮吸收率(11.6%±1.6%),种植在稀释比例为1:27厌氧发酵过的牛奶场废水中的少根紫萍0128获得最高的总磷吸收率(15.4%±4.4%);相应地少根紫萍鲜重的增长率分别为0.11 g·d-1和0.17 g·d-1。3种浮萍中,少根紫萍最具有吸收牛奶场废水氮、磷并获得较高生物质的潜力。 相似文献

ABSTRACT The aggressiveness of Sphaeropsis sapinea isolates was compared on water-stressed and nonstressed 3-year-old red pines (Pinus resinosa) in greenhouse and growth chamber experiments. Water was withheld from stressed seedlings to achieve mean predawn needle water potentials (psi(PD)) above -1.9 MPa. The lowest mean psi(PD) of well-watered seedlings was maintained at or above -0.8 MPa. Young shoots were inoculated by placing colonized agar plugs on wounds made by removing a needle fascicle. Two isolates of each recognized morphotype (A and B) were used in the greenhouse experiment and two isolates of morphotype A were used in the growth chamber experiment. After 4 weeks, isolates of morphotype A caused more severe symptoms and could be recovered farther from the inoculation site on water-stressed than on nonstressed trees in both experiments. In the greenhouse experiment, isolates of mor-photype A also caused more severe symptoms and could be recovered farther from the inoculation site than isolates of morphotype B, regardless of watering regime. These results indicate that water stress at levels observed typically in the field can result in increased disease development by isolates of S. sapinea morphotype A on red pine. The reduction of water stress of red pines in the field may reduce losses due to Sphaeropsis shoot blight. 相似文献

Simple phenolic acid levels were determined on pooled millstreams of five different classes of Canadian wheat milled to ~75, 80, and 85% extraction. Pooled flours and whole grain were analyzed by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) to establish endogenous levels of insoluble bound, soluble esterified, and free phenolic acids. Only ferulic acid was detected in the insoluble bound category, which accounted for >80% of the total phenolic acids present in every flour. The soluble esterified phenolic acids accounted for up to 17% of the overall total phenolic acid content within a flour. The major constituents were sinapic, ferulic, and vanillic acids, with minor amounts of coumaric, caffeic, and syringic acids. Free phenolic acids accounted for a maximum of 6% of the total phenolic content of any prepared flour. Ferulic acid was the major free phenolic acid, while sinapic acid was not detected in any flour. Significant correlations (r = 0.64–0.97, P < 0.05) were observed between insoluble bound ferulic acid, individual soluble esterified acids, and most free acids with polyphenol oxidase activity, as well as color and ash content for each class. 相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To compare the relationships between food (nutrient) intakes and biochemical markers of nutritional status of asymptomatic HIV-infected with HIV-uninfected subjects, to gain more information on the appropriate diet for HIV-infected persons at an early stage of infection. DESIGN: Cross-sectional population-based survey. SETTING: North West Province, South Africa. SUBJECTS: Two hundred and sixteen asymptomatic HIV-infected and 1550 HIV-uninfected men and women volunteers aged 15 years and older, recruited as 'apparently healthy' subjects from 37 randomly selected sites. OUTCOME MEASURES: Food and nutrient intakes, measured with a validated food-frequency questionnaire, and nutritional status indicated by anthropometric and biochemical variables, measured by a standardised methodology. RESULTS: The prevalence of HIV infection in the study population was 11.9%. The anthropometric indices and nutrient intakes of HIV-infected and uninfected subjects did not differ significantly, indicating that these 216 HIV-infected subjects were at an early stage of infection. Of the biochemical nutritional status variables, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and total cholesterol, haemoglobin, albumin and triglycerides were significantly lower in infected subjects. They also had higher globulin and liver enzyme levels than uninfected subjects. In infected subjects, serum albumin correlated significantly with serum lipids, serum vitamin A, serum vitamin E, serum iron, total iron-binding capacity and haemoglobin. The significant positive correlations of the liver enzymes with serum lipids, albumin, vitamin A and iron, observed in HIV-uninfected subjects, disappeared in the infected subjects. Polyunsaturated fat intake showed significant positive correlations with the increased liver enzymes in infected subjects. A principal components analysis indicated that, in infected subjects, increased liver enzymes correlated with higher consumption of maize meal and lower consumption of meat and vegetables. CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: This survey indicated that asymptomatic HIV-infected subjects who followed a diet rich in animal foods had smaller decreases in serum albumin, haemoglobin and lipid variables, and smaller increases in liver enzymes, than those who consumed a diet based on staple foods. This suggests that animal foods are associated with improved nutritional status in HIV-infected persons. These results should be confirmed with intervention studies before dietary recommendations for asymptomatic HIV-infected individuals can be made. 相似文献

The gammaherpesvirus bovine herpesvirus-4 (BHV-4) has been isolated from a wide variety of animals, including lions and domestic cats. Although BHV-4 antibodies have been detected in normal cats and cats with urinary disorders, the epidemiology and pathogenic role of BHV-4 in cats is unknown. The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence of BHV-4 antibodies and viral nucleic acid in a population of free-roaming cats. Plasma and peripheral blood leukocyte samples were collected from 52 male and 52 female free-roaming cats impounded at a regional animal control facility in Central Michigan. Plasma concentrations of BHV-4 antibodies were measured with an indirect fluorescent antibody test. Peripheral blood leukocyte DNA was isolated, and a 2-stage polymerase chain reaction with heminested primers delineating a conserved portion of the BHV-4 glycoprotein B gene homologue was used to amplify BHV-4-specific DNA sequences. BHV-4 antibodies were detected in 38 (73%) male and 23 (44%) female cats. Seropositive cats were significantly more likely to be male than female (odds ratio = 3.22; P = .007). Cell-associated viremia was detected in 17 (33%) male and 11 (21%) female cats. Of the 61 seropositive cats, 23 (38%) had a detectable viremia; only 5 (12%) seronegative cats had detectable viremia. Seropositive cats were significantly more likely to be viremic than seronegative cats (OR = 4.30: P = .009). Our results suggest that BHV-4 infection may be more widespread in certain cat populations than previously reported. Furthermore, many cats seropositive for BHV-4 antibodies have a concurrent cell-associated viremia. 相似文献

Oocyte maturation depends on the metabolic activity of cumulus–oocyte complex (COC) that performs nutritive and regulatory functions during this process. In this work, the enzymes [phosphofructokinase (PFK) and malate dehydrogenase (MDH)] were tested to elucidate the metabolic profile of porcine COCs during the in vitro maturation (IVM). Enzymatic activity was expressed in U/COC and U/mg protein (specific activity) as mean ± SEM. In vitro maturation was performed with 2‐oxoglutarate (5, 10 and 20 mm ) or hydroxymalonate (30, 60 and 100 mm ) inhibitors of PFK and MDH, respectively. The PFK and MDH activities (U) remained constant during maturation. For PFK, the U were (2.48 ± 0.23) 10?5 and (2.54 ± 0.32) 10?5, and for MDH, the U were (4.72 ± 0.42) 10?5 and (4.38 ± 0.25) 10?5 for immature and in vitro matured COCs, respectively. The specific activities were significantly lower after IVM, for PFK (4.29 ± 0.48) 10?3 and (0.94 ± 0.12) 10?3, and for MDH (9.08 ± 0.93) 10?3 and (1.89 ± 0.10) 10?3 for immature and in vitro matured COCs, respectively. In vitro maturation percentages and enzymatic activity diminished with 20 mm 2‐oxoglutarate or 60 mm hydroxymalonate (p < 0.05). Viability was not affected by any concentration of the inhibitors evaluated. The U remained unchanged during IVM; however, the increase in the total protein content per COC provoked a decrease in the specific activity of both enzymes. Phosphofructokinase and MDH necessary for oocyte IVM would be already present in the immature oocyte. The presence of inhibitors of these enzymes impairs the meiotic maturation. Therefore, the participation of these enzymes in the energy metabolism of the porcine oocyte during IVM is confirmed in this study. 相似文献

Globally, amphibians are among the least appreciated vertebrates and are often negatively perceived by the general public. Such attitudes are particularly prevalent in South Africa, where fear, superstitions and myths associated with frogs are pervasive in some cultures. These attitudes could have harmful consequences both for the animals concerned and conservation efforts. This study aimed to investigate attitudes to frogs throughout South Africa across multiple age and ethnic groups. We used a multi-language survey in both hard-copy and online versions. Respondents (n = 2 295) comprised both genders across six age groups and five ethnic groups. A functionalist approach using structural equation modelling was used to assess how liking of frogs and cultural beliefs varied with socio-demographic factors. Attitudes varied significantly between groups, with males more likely to like frogs than females and age and level of education also significantly linked to liking. The influence of cultural beliefs and lack of knowledge also directly influenced negative attitudes towards frogs. More than 60% of respondents expressed an interest in learning more about frogs, indicating an opportunity for improving attitudes through educational outreach. The findings of this study can be used to inform current efforts to protect amphibians in South Africa through social interventions. 相似文献

Increasing nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) in irrigated corn production is of great importance to overall agricultural sustainability. Studies have shown that crop canopy sensors can aid in this pursuit as they allow for the determination of nitrogen (N) requirements in split applications later in the growing season. Fertigation can also increase NUE as many split applications can be conducted. If crop canopy sensors could be used to direct N fertigation rates, overall NUE may be increased even further. However, in some cases, N differences may need to be determined later in the growing season after corn has tasseled, which can cause issues with crop canopy sensor readings. Therefore, a study was initiated to evaluate the potential of a crop canopy sensor to differentiate between N levels at two corn (Zea mays) growth stages (R1 and R3) after the corn had tasseled. The sensor was placed in three orientations to evaluate which orientation best determined the corn N status across two sensor-calculated indices while avoiding taking measurements involving the corn tassel. These orientations were (1) nadir, between corn rows (above canopy), (2) 45° off nadir within the corn canopy (below corn tassel), and (3) 90° off nadir within the corn canopy (below corn tassel). The results of this study show that N differences in late season corn can be determined by utilizing crop canopy sensors in an inter-row orientation. Results also show that the red edge normalized difference vegetation index (ReNDVI) index is superior to the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) index for late season N determinations in corn. These results suggest that crop canopy sensors could be an effective tool for determining N requirements of corn late in the growing season. 相似文献
