The effect of photoperiod on survival and growth of cultured young soles (Solea solea) was investigated from hatching to the age of three months, at 18° C. Two experiments were performed, comparing days with 12, 18 and 24 h light. The fishes were reared in 60 1 tanks, conical ones before metamorphosis, square ones with a sandy bottom from metamorphosis to the age of three months. They were fed on live food organisms for 1 month, on frozen flesh of the bivalve Laevicardium crassum for the two other ones.During the larval period, no significant difference was recorded in the survival rate but a better growth was obtained with 18 and 24 h light, suggesting a predominant diurnal feeding. From metamorphosis to the age of three months (mean weight: 1 g) no significant effect of the photoperiod on the survival and growth of the juveniles could be demonstrated. 相似文献

A new mineral, stanfieldite, Ca(4)(Mg,Fe)(5)(PO(4))(6), has been found in the Estherville mesosiderite and several pallasites: Santa Rosalia, Albin, Finmarken, Imilac, Mount Vernon, and Newport. The atom ratio Mg:Fe of this mineral varies from 1.5 in Estherville to a constant ratio of about 15 in the pallasites. X-ray, optical, and chemical data for the mineral resemble those for the only intermediate compound in the system Mg(3)(PO(4))(2)-Ca(3)(PO(4))(2). 相似文献

Investigations of phase-separated Langmuir-Blodgett films by atomic force microscopy reveal that on a scale of 30 to 200 micrometers, these images resemble those observed by fluorescence microscopy. Fine structures (less than 1 micrometer) within the stearic acid domains were observed, which cannot be seen by conventional optical microscopic techniques. By applying the force modulation technique, it was found that the elastic properties of the domains in the liquid condensed phase and grains observed within the liquid expanded phase were comparable. Small soft residues in the domains could also be detected. The influence of trace amounts of a fluorescence dye on the micromorphology of monolayers could be detected on transferred films. 相似文献

Numerous agents attack DNA, forming lesions that impair normal replication. Specialized DNA polymerases transiently replace the replicative polymerase and copy past lesions, thus generating mutations, the major initiating cause of cancer. We monitored, in Escherichia coli, the kinetics of replication of both strands of DNA molecules containing a single replication block in either the leading or lagging strand. Despite a block in the leading strand, lagging-strand synthesis proceeded further, implying transient uncoupling of concurrent strand synthesis. Replication through the lesion requires specialized DNA polymerases and is achieved with similar kinetics and efficiencies in both strands. 相似文献
