Cardiopulmonary effects of IV administration of lenperone (0.44 mg/kg) and glycopyrrolate (0.11 mg/kg) were determined in 6 healthy adult (2 to 5 years) Pointers during controlled ventilation with oxygen. Sufentanil was then administered as a loading dose (5 micrograms/kg, IV) and continually infused (0.1 microgram/kg/min) for 120 minutes. Lenperone-glycopyrrolate did not significantly affect heart rate, but induced a significant decrease in systemic vascular resistance, rate-pressure product, and mean arterial pressure, and significantly increased cardiac index. Administration of sufentanil did not significantly affect mean arterial pressure. Heart rate and rate-pressure product were significantly decreased during sufentanil infusion. Systemic vascular resistance gradually increased during the 2-hour sufentanil infusion and was not significantly different from base-line values at end of study. Cardiac index was not significantly different from baseline values during sufentanil infusion, except at 90 and 120 minutes, when it was significantly less. As administered in the present study, lenperone, glycopyrrolate, and sufentanil are safe and efficacious in adult dogs.  相似文献

Organ blood flow and distribution of cardiac output (CO) were determined in 9 awake (control) and ketamine-anesthesized swine (4 mg/kg bolus followed by continuous infusion of 0.3 mg/kg/min, IV), using 15 micron diameter radionuclide-labeled microspheres. Absolute values of blood flow (per 100 g basis) were determined for various organs and peripheral tissues. Internal organs of the swine, which constituted 8.25 +/- 0.79% of the total body mass, received 55.83 +/- 5.13% of the CO. The fraction of CO received by brain, heart, kidneys, liver (via hepatic artery), and gastrointestinal tract was 1.10%, 2.67%, 19.84%, 11.81%, and 16.84%, respectively. During ketamine anesthesia, the fraction of CO perfusing the kidneys and liver (hepatic artery) increased from control and values for brain, heart, and splanchnic organs remained unchanged. Blood flow (per unit weight) of brain, cardiac, and splanchnic organs decreased; kidney and skeletal muscle blood flow was unaltered; and hepatic arterial blood flow increased from the awake (control) values. The hyperdynamic state often associated with ketamine anesthesia was not evident in these pigs during intermittent positive-pressure ventilation resulting in hypocapnia.  相似文献

Bleeding diathesis in a Quarter Horse filly was caused by von Willebrand disease. Hemorrhage occurred mainly from mucosal surfaces and after trauma. Quantitative and qualitative measurements of plasma von Willebrand factor (vWF) documented a specific deficiency of vWF high molecular weight multimers, and concurrently greater than expected deficiency of vWF activity relative to vWF concentration. These findings are characteristic of type-II von Willebrand disease in human beings. Application of vWF assays used in human and small animal medicine now permits evaluation of vWF and diagnosis of von Willebrand disease in horses with bleeding disorders.  相似文献

Radish (Raphanus sativus) and Swiss Chard (Beta vulgaris) seedlings, grown hydroponically, exhibited significantly greater increases in height and weight in medium containing α-mannoside supplemented with calcium and manganese salts, than in control treatments lacking one or more of those components. Furthermore, seeds sown on medium containing α-mannoside plus Ca2+and Mn2+showed accelerated germination. Calcium and manganese are necessary to maintain the protein conformation of mannose-binding lectins. In the presence of those cations, glycosides displace specific sugars bound to lectins, making them available to support plant growth.  相似文献

14Carbon methyl-β-D-glucopyranoside (14C-MeG) was applied to roots and shoots of Beta vulgaris L. and the label was tracked as it was transported and assimilated, primarily as a plant nutrient. Foliar application resulted in 6.7% of the 14C-MeG absorbed within 15 min of the solution drying into leaves. Roots in liquid medium with dissolved 14C-MeG absorbed approximately 97% of the 14C-label in 22 h. Whether fed in the light or dark, 40% of the 14C-MeG that was applied appeared in the cellulose fraction, incorporated completely intact. Rapid incorporation of 14C-MeG into the insoluble fraction with few 14C-labeled metabolites found in the soluble fraction were observed. In contrast to roots, a higher percentage of 14C-MeG was incorporated into starch and lipids of shoots.  相似文献
