Liver disease can influence the metabolism of various other organs. Regarding the influence of liver diseases on muscles, only a few studies done on people exist. The goal of our study was to investigate the influence of liver diseases on muscles in dogs. Twenty-eight dogs with different liver diseases were investigated in this study. The diagnosis of muscle alteration was based on electromyography (EMG), creatine kinase serum activity, 3-methylhistidine serum concentration and a muscle biopsy in some cases. Our results suggest that liver diseases in dogs can be accompanied with muscle alteration. 3-Methylhistidine serum concentration as a new parameter for muscle destruction in dogs was significantly increased compared to clinical healthy dogs and was comparable to those concentrations in dogs with histologically confirmed myopathy of different types. The differentiation of the liver diseases into severe hepatitis, moderate hepatitis and liver tumours showed a significant elevation of 3-methylhistidine serum concentration in cases of liver tumours (P=0.03) and a tendency in cases of severe hepatitis (P=0.07). Based on our study we can conclude that liver diseases have an influence on muscles in dogs and 3-methylhistidine could be a useful parameter for muscle destruction.  相似文献

A total of 142 S. aureus strains isolated from pig carcasses from abattoirs A (n = 98) and B (n = 44) were characterized by phenotypic and genotypic traits. Phenotypically, 96% showed yellow-pigmented colonies, 63% β/δ hemolysis, 85% were egg yolk-positive and 99% were positive for clumping factor/protein A. Only 25% of the strains were resistant to the antimicrobials tested (abattoir A: 19%; abattoir B: 39%), especially to penicillin and ampicillin. None of the strains harbored the mecA gene, which is conserved in methicillin-resistant S. aureus. The biofilm associated genes icaA, icaD and bap were present in 100%, 100% and 0% of the strains. Genes for staphylococcal enterotoxin (SE) were detected in 51% (abattoir A) and 14% of the strains (abattoir B). Among strains harboring SE genes (n = 56), 63%, 31%, 4% and 2% tested positive for seg/sei, seg, sei and sec, respectively. The amplification of the 3′ end of the coagulase gene (coa) yielded amplicons of 400, 436, 602, 682 or 776 bp. Coa restriction profile (CRP) analysis using HaeIII resulted in seven patterns (a–d, e1–e3). CRP (c) was detected most frequently at both abattoirs, whereas CRP (a) was restricted to abattoir A and CRP (e3) to abattoir B. In the slaughter process (abattoir B), (i) two CRPs (b and d) were only found before dehairing/singeing, and (ii) four CRPs (c, e1–e3) were identified throughout the process. The genotyping revealed a remarkable homogeneity in S. aureus strains from the two different abattoirs and the slaughter process stages. These results may be explained by the distribution of a limited number of S. aureus genotypes in the pig population. Moreover, as the predominant CRPs (c, e1–e3) persisted throughout the slaughter process in abattoir B, it may be hypothesized that these types are characterized by colonization advantages.  相似文献

Fifty-four potent odorants in standardized, hydrolyzed, and deoiled and hydrolyzed soybean lecithins were quantified by high-resolution gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (HRGC/MS). The characterization of their aroma impact was performed by calculation of nasal (n) and retronasal (r) odor activity values (OAVs). For this, the nasal and retronasal recognition thresholds of 18 odor-active compounds were determined in vegetable oil. The following compounds showed the highest nOAVs: 2,3-diethyl-5-methylpyrazine, methylpropanal, acetic acid, pentanoic acid, 2-ethyl-3,5-dimethylpyrazine, pentylpyridine, (Z)-1,5-octadien-3-one, 2-methylbutanal, and beta-damascenone. In addition to the compounds above, 1-octen-3-one, 1-nonen-3-one, and 3-methyl-2,4-nonandione showed potent rOAVs. The results of quantification and OAV calculation were confirmed by a model mixture of 25 impact odorants, which yielded a highly similar sensory profile to that of the original soybean lecithin. The sensory importance of pyrazines and free acids increased through enzymatic hydrolysis and decreased by the process of deoiling. The impact of unsaturated ketones on the lecithin aroma was not changed by either process.  相似文献

Mining activities generate spoils and effluents with extremely high metal concentrations of heavy metals that might have adverse effects on ecosystems and human health. Therefore, information on soil and plant metal concentrations is needed to assess the severity of the pollution and develop a strategy for soil reclamation such as phytoremediation. Here, we studied soils and vegetation in three heavily contaminated sites with potential toxic metals and metalloids (Zn, Pb, Cd, As, TI) in the mining district of Les Malines in the Languedoc region (southern France). Extremely high concentrations were found at different places such as the Les Aviniéres tailing basins (up to 160,000 mg kg?C1 Zn, 90,000 mg kg?C1 Pb, 9,700 mg kg?C1 of As and 245 mg kg?C1 of Tl) near a former furnace. Metal contamination extended several kilometres away from the mine sites probably because of the transport of toxic mining residues by wind and water. Spontaneous vegetation growing on the three mine sites was highly diversified and included 116 plant species. The vegetation cover consisted of species also found in non-contaminated soils, some of which have been shown to be metal-tolerant ecotypes (Festuca arvernensis, Koeleria vallesiana and Armeria arenaria) and several Zn, Cd and Tl hyperaccumulators such as Anthyllis vulneraria, Thlaspi caerulescens, Iberis intermedia and Silene latifolia. This latter species was highlighted as a new thallium hyperaccumulator, accumulating nearly 1,500 mg kg?C1. These species represent a patrimonial interest for their potential use for the phytoremediation of toxic metal-polluted areas.  相似文献

This study compares growth, intake and retention efficiencies of nutrients and energy between common sole (Solea solea L.) fed ragworm (Nereis virens, Sars), blue mussel (Mytilus edulis L.) and an artificial (commercial) feed. Food types were fed to common sole (mean initial body weight: 44.9 ± 2.3 g) in excess three times a day over a 54‐day‐period. The growth rate in common sole fed the natural prey (8.5 g kg?0.8 d?1) was significantly higher compared to the growth rate in fish fed the artificial feed (5.1 g kg?0.8 d?1). Nutrient and energy intake was significantly lower in common sole fed the artificial feed than in fish fed natural prey. The only exception was fat intake which was higher in common sole fed the artificial feed in contrast to fish fed the natural prey. Nutrient and energy retention efficiencies were significantly lower in common sole fed the artificial feed than in fish fed the natural prey. In conclusion, the low growth in common sole fed the artificial feed was related to lower nutrient and energy intake as well as lower nutrient and energy retention efficiencies. It is suggested that reduced intake of the artificial feed might be related to the high dietary fat content of the artificial feed.  相似文献

Soil density is an important soil property, but respective measurements are usually scarce. With data from 559 mineral soil horizons (134 sites) we developed a linear regression pedotransfer function (PTF) for the density of forest soils (sieved to ≤ 2 mm). The field estimate of density was the most important covariate. RMSE of 0.205 Mg m?3 and R2 of 0.67, calculated on independent data (131 horizons), were better than the statistics obtained by published, recalibrated PTF (RMSE 0.271–0.324 Mg m?3; R2 0.28–0.42).  相似文献

This study compares the effect of food type (formulated diet vs. natural food) and fish size on protein and energy utilization efficiencies for growth in common sole, Solea solea (L.). Replicate groups of common sole (mean initial body weight ± SD was 45.7 g ± 2.1 and 111.2 g ± 4.2) received the diets at five (natural feed) or four (formulated diet) feeding levels. The protein utilization efficiency for growth (kgCP) was higher (> 0.001) in common sole fed ragworms than in common sole fed the formulated diet (respectively, 0.40 and 0.31). Likewise, the energy utilization efficiency for growth (kgGE) was higher (= 0.001) in common sole fed ragworms than in common sole fed the formulated diet (respectively, 0.57 and 0.33). The protein maintenance requirement was not different between food types (= 0.64) or fish size (= 0.41) being on average 0.82 g kg?0.8 day?1. The energy maintenance requirement was not different between food type (= 0.390) but differed between fish size (= 0.036). The gross energy maintenance requirement of small common sole was 35 kJ g?0.8 day?1. The gross energy maintenance requirement of large common sole was 25 kJ g?0.8 day?1. In conclusion, the low growth of common sole fed formulated diets was related to reduced feed utilization.  相似文献

The microbiological meat examination (MFU), consisting of a bacteriological analysis and a testing for antibiotic residues, is one of several additional analyses used for an edibility rating of carcasses made during meat inspection. Reasons for performing a microbiological meat examination and procedures in the laboratory are defined in the Swiss ordinance for meat examination (FUV). The aim of this study was to analyze the data of 313 microbiological meat examinations from calves and 2882 microbiological meat examinations from cows carried out at the Institute for Food Safety and Hygiene during a period of 8 years. Reasons for microbiological meat examinations as reported by the meat inspectors were mainly classified to the category of "inflammation and necroses" (FUV, Annex 4, Pt 1.2; calves: 73%, cows: 48%). As declarations of the age of the pathological-anatomical changes (that influences directly the probability of detection of pathogens) were generally missing, it is not surprising that the compliance between a particular pathological-anatomical change and a specific detection of pathogens is poor (calves: 19%, cows: 18% of all MFU). About 18% (calves) and 45% (cows) of the reasons for microbiological meat examinations did not correspond to one of the reasons mentioned in the ordinance for meat examination. However, according to the data set, some reasons require a microbiological meat examination due to an often-found specific detection of pathogens. Otherwise, a remarkable number of reasons mentioned were missing the link to bacteriological etiology. Moreover, 14% (calf) and 7% (cow) of microbiological meat examinations with the declaration "no pretreatment" as well as 15% (calf) and 11% (cow) of microbiological meat examinations without declaration showed a positive result in the testing for antibiotic residues.  相似文献
