Industrial drying of salted fish is an extremely common practice in the Portuguese industry of codfish processing. The present study aims to obtain sorption isotherms of codfish, which will be useful in designing drying processes and prediction of storage conditions for this product. The equilibrium moisture contents (wet basis) were determined for salted codfish at 15, 18, 20, and 23ºC at relative humidities ranging from 40 to 70%. Experiments were also carried out for fresh codfish at the temperature of 20ºC for the same values of relative humidity. The sorption capacity of codfish decreased with an increase in temperature at constant relative humidity. Thirteen models were used to correlate the experimental data analysis of salted codfish: modified BET, Cauri, Chung-Pfost, modified Chung-Pfost, GAB, modified GAB, Halsey, modified Henderson, Kuhn, Oswin, modified Oswin, Smith, and modified Smith. Based on the mean relative percentage deviation, standard error of estimate, randomness of residual, and coefficient of determination, experimental data were well described by all the models. The equilibrium moisture content of salted codfish was best predicted using the modified GAB model, with a coefficient of determination of 0.99.  相似文献

The effects of microbial transglutaminase (MTGase; 0.5%, w/w) and high hydrostatic pressure (HHP) on the quality of protein gels from unwashed mince of hake (Merluccius capensis) trimmings were studied. MTGase incorporation improved texture. Protein solubility was lower for those gels containing MTGase, as a result of myosin heavy chain cross-linking. HHP improved texture. Pressure level was the most important HHP parameter, since higher levels (300 vs. 100 MPa) augmented gel strength (GS). A positive synergistic effect of MTGase and HHP was found for some properties, such as GS, yielding improved gels from a raw material that otherwise shows poor gelation.  相似文献

Previous studies comparing cultivars of different maturity groups in different soils demonstrated that early maturity group cultivars were more sensitive to glyphosate injury than those of other maturity groups. In this work, we evaluated the effect of increasing rates of glyphosate on water absorption and photosynthetic parameters in early maturity group cultivar BRS 242 GR soybean. Plants were grown in a complete nutrient solution and subjected to a range of glyphosate rates either as a single or sequential leaf application. Net photosynthesis, transpiration rate, stomatal conductance, sub-stomatal CO2, carboxylation efficiency, fluorescence, maximal fluorescence and chlorophyll content were monitored right before and at different stages after herbicide application; water absorption was measured daily. All photosynthetic parameters were affected by glyphosate. Total water absorbed and biomass production by plants were also decreased as glyphosate rates increased, with the affect being more intense with a single full rate than half the rate applied in two sequential applications. Water use efficiency (WUE) was significantly reduced with increasing rates of glyphosate.  相似文献

The aim of the present study was to assess diversity in the Botryosphaeriaceae on trees and fruit of mango (Mangifera indica L.) in a semi-arid region in northeastern Brazil in which most exported fruit in the country are produced. Using morphological characteristics and DNA sequence data (ITS-1, ITS-2 and 5.8S rDNA) we confirmed the presence of Lasiodiplodia theobromae in the region, and for the first time report Fusicoccum aesculi and Neofusicoccum parvum. L. theobromae was prevalent in the Assú Valley and F. aesculi and N. parvum were in the São Francisco Valley. In fruit inoculations, L. theobromae and N. parvum were more virulent than F. aesculi.  相似文献

Clubroot, caused by Plasmodiophora brassicae, is a disease limiting the production of Brassica species. Its severity varies according to the density of the pathogen's resting spores and environmental conditions. Although the soil environment (including its physical, chemical and biological characteristics) is determinant in the development of the disease, little is known regarding these characteristics in tropical regions, such as Brazil. The objective of this study was to investigate the relationships between soil attributes, bacterial population composition and clubroot intensity in a tropical mountain agroecosystem. Soil and plant samples were collected from 17 cauliflower-producing localities in Nova Friburgo, Brazil. The physical and chemical attributes, the bacterial population composition, the number of pathogen resting spores in the soil samples, and the clubroot severity were evaluated. Based on bacterial population composition, two distinct groups of soils were identified, which varied in attributes such as organic matter, potential acidity, pH and disease severity. The organic matter level was associated with differences in soil acidity, bacterial population composition and disease intensity, but there was not a cause and effect relationship between bacterial population composition and clubroot severity. Under the conditions of this agroecosystem, soils with increased organic matter presented higher acidity potential (H + Al), which was strongly correlated to clubroot severity. Thus, high acidity potential could be a key factor leading to clubroot development in mountain regions of Brazil.  相似文献

Despite extensive efforts, establishment of bovine embryonic stem (ES) cell lines has not been successful. We hypothesized that culture conditions for in vitro-produced (IVP) embryos, the most used source of inner cell mass (ICM) to obtain ES cells, might affect their undifferentiated state. Therefore, the aim of this work was to improve pluripotency of IVP blastocysts to produce suitable ICM for further culturing. We tested KSR and foetal calf serum (FCS) supplements in SOF medium and ES cell conditioned medium (CM) on IVC (groups: KSR, KSR CM, FCS and FCS CM). Cleavage and blastocyst rates were similar between all groups. Also, embryonic quality, assessed by apoptosis rates (TUNEL assay), total cell number and ICM percentage did not differ between experimental groups. However, expression of pluripotency-related markers was affected. We detected down-regulation of OCT3/4, SOX2 and SSEA1 in ICM of FCS CM blastocysts (p < 0.05). SOX2 gene expression revealed lower levels (p < 0.05) on KSR CM blastocysts and a remarkable variation in SOX2 mRNA levels on FCS-supplemented blastocysts. In conclusion, pluripotency-related markers tend to decrease after supplementation with ES cell CM, suggesting different mechanisms regulating mouse and bovine pluripotency. KSR supplementation did not differ from FCS, but FCS replacement by KSR may produce blastocysts with stable SOX2 gene expression levels.  相似文献

Two experiments were conducted to determine the requirement of available P (aP) of pigs selected for high lean deposition during summer (maximum and minimum temperatures of 29.8 ± 3.6 and 21.3 ± 1.1°C, respectively; Exp. 1) and winter (maximum and minimum temperatures of 24.7 ± 2.1 and 9.1 ± 1.6°C, respectively; Exp. 2). Pigs (66.5 ± 2.8 kg, Exp. 1; and 61.1 ± 0.6 kg, Exp. 2) were randomly allotted to 5 dietary treatments. Exp. 1 had 5 pens/treatment and Exp. 2 had 6 pens/treatment, and all pens had 2 pigs. Treatments were composed of a corn-soybean meal basal diet and 4 diets with additional dicalcium phosphate to obtain 5 aP concentrations (0.122, 0.187, 0.252, 0.317, and 0.382% in Exp. 1, and 0.135, 0.200, 0.265, 0.330, and 0.395% in Exp. 2). Pigs were allowed ad libitum access to their respective diets for 30 d. In Exp. 1, increasing aP improved ADFI and ADG (quadratic, P < 0.05), with maximum responses obtained at 0.226 and 0.256% of aP, respectively. Increasing aP improved (P < 0.05) G:F. A broken-line analysis indicated that G:F was maximized (P < 0.05) at 0.295% of aP or 9.04 g of aP/d. Increasing aP also increased (quadratic, P < 0.05) P and Ca (g/kg) in the metacarpals with maximum responses obtained at 0.314 and 0.272% of aP, respectively. The percentage of ash in the metacarpals continued to increase (linear, P < 0.05) with increasing aP. In Exp. 2, ADG and G:F improved (linear and quadratic, P < 0.05) as aP increased in the diet. A broken-line analysis indicated that G:F was maximized (P < 0.05) at 0.316% of aP or 10.58 g of aP per day. However, increasing aP had no effect on ADFI. Percentages of ash, P, and Ca in the metacarpals increased (linear, P < 0.05) with increasing aP. In conclusion, results of this experiment indicated that finishing pigs (60 to 100 kg) kept in a thermoneutral environment require 0.316% aP in the diet (10.58 g/d) to maximize G:F, but the requirement is only 0.295% aP (9.04 g/d) when pigs are under heat stress.  相似文献

This study verified the in vitro effects of IGF-1, FSH or both on caprine preantral follicle development and mRNA levels encoding IGF-1, IGFR-1 and FSHR. Secondary follicles were cultured for six days with FSH, IGF-1 or IGF-1+FSH. The results showed that IGF-1 and/or FSH addition did not influence follicular development for six days. The interaction between IGF-1 and FSH increased the mRNA levels of IGF-1 and FSHR, and FSH increased the expression of the IGFR-1 mRNA. Thus, IGF-1 and/or FSH increased IGF-1, IGFR-1 and FSHR mRNA levels in in vitro cultured caprine secondary follicles, but they did not influence their development after six days of in vitro culture.  相似文献

Global production of glyphosate-resistant (GR) soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] continues to increase annually; however, there are no particular specific fertilizer recommendations for the transgenic varieties used in this system largely because reports of glyphosate effects on mineral nutrition of GR soybeans are lacking. Several metabolites or degradation products of glyphosate have been identified or postulated to cause undesirable effects on GR soybeans. In this work we used increasing glyphosate rates in different application on cv. ‘BRS 242 GR’ in order to evaluate photosynthetic parameters, macro- and micronutrient uptake and accumulation and shoot and root dry biomass production. Increasing glyphosate rates revealed a significant decrease in photosynthesis, macro and micronutrients accumulation in leaf tissues and also decreases in nutrient uptake. The reduced biomass in GR soybeans represents additive effects from the decreased photosynthetic parameters as well as lower availability of nutrients in tissues of the glyphosate treated plants.  相似文献
