Nano zerovalent iron (nZVI) impregnated reduced graphene oxide (nZVI-rGO) hybrid was prepared via gaseous hydrogen reduction of anhydrous iron(III) chloride (FeCl3) on the surface of thermally exfoliated reduced graphene oxide (rGO) nanosheets without using any toxic reducing agent, surfactant, or stabilizing agent. Characterization of prepared samples was carried out using various techniques. Morphological study showed that prepared rGO possesses a few-layered wrinkled paper-like structures and nZVI particles of ~?30 nm size were homogeneously dispersed on the surface of rGO nanosheets. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDS) analyses indicated that oxygen-containing functional groups decreased in the order of graphite oxide (GO) > rGO > nZVI-rGO. Removal studies of trinitrotoluene (TNT) were carried out using graphite (G), GO, rGO, and nZVI-rGO with the aid of high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Kinetic models were applied to establish the rate and mechanism of adsorption of TNT on different adsorbents, and intraparticle diffusion model based on initial adsorption characteristics was employed to ascertain mechanism of film and intraparticle diffusion in the adsorption process. The removal rate and adsorption capacity was found to be highest for nZVI-rGO, which renders this adsorbent to be a potential futuristic adsorbent for removal of explosives. 相似文献

ABSTRACT: BACKGROUND: Movement behaviour can be influenced by a multitude of biotic and abiotic factors. Here, we investigate the speed of movement in relation to environmental and individual phenotypic properties in subadult common lizards (Lacerta vivipara). We aim to disentangle the importance of substrate, cover, humidity, basking opportunity and individual phenotype on moving tendencies in 12 treatment combinations, at which each lizard was tested. RESULTS: We find that movement behaviour depends on the starting conditions, the physical properties of the dispersal corridor, and on the individuals' phenotype. Specifically, the presence of cover and substrate providing suitable traction in the corridor had positive effects on individual movement decisions. Additionally, we find high phenotypic variation in the propensity to move dependent on the presence of cover. Individual back patterns also strongly affected movement decisions in interaction with the physical properties of the dispersal corridor. CONCLUSIONS: Our results highlight the importance of understanding the habitat resistance for movement patterns, with humid habitats with covering vegetation providing the best conditions to initiate movement in the common lizard. In addition, population effects, differences in back pattern phenotype and individual plasticity were identified as key parameters influencing movement behaviour. 相似文献

Excess moisture (water-logging) during the summer–rainy season is one of the major production constraints for maize (Zea mays L.) in a large area of Southeast Asia. Identification and development of genotypes capable of withstanding the stress conditions could be an ideal and affordable approach suitable for resource poor maize-growing farmers of such areas. We attempted to identify the most susceptible/critical crop stage(s) of maize for excess moisture stress, and to develop a screening technique and selection strategies for identification of germplasm tolerant to excess moisture stress. Among the four crop stages, i.e. early seedling (V2), knee-high (V7), tasseling (VT) and milk stage (R1), V2 was found to be highly susceptible, followed by the V7 stage. A screening technique (cup method) was developed/standardized, and was found to be an efficient technique for large-scale screening of maize genotypes against excess soil moisture stress. Germplasm was screened using this technique followed by field evaluation at the V7 growth stage (seventh leaf visible). Excess soil moisture stress severely affected various growth and biochemical parameters, impaired anthesis and silking, and eventually resulted in poor kernel development and yield. However, remarkable variability was found among the genotypes studied. Genotypes with good carbohydrate accumulation in stem tissues, moderate stomatal conductance, <5 days ASI, high root porosity, and early brace root development ability have been found to have good tolerance against the hypoxia/anoxia caused by excess soil moisture conditions. 相似文献

The objective of the study was to evaluate the efficacy of ovarian response and pregnancy rate in anovular buffaloes following Ovsynch and Ovsynch Plus protocols. Buffaloes (n = 55) were divided into two groups: Ovsynch group (n = 26): GnRH (10 μg, GnRH1) on Day 0, PGF2α (25 mg) on Day 7, GnRH (10 μg, GnRH2) on Day 9; Ovsynch Plus group (n = 29): 500 IU equine chorionic gonadotropin (eCG) 72 hr (day ?3) prior to Ovsynch protocol, followed by fixed timed artificial insemination (FTAI) 6 and 24 hr after GnRH2 injection in bot groups. Transrectal ultrasonography was performed daily, that is, from day 0 and ?3 in Ovsynch and Ovsynch Plus group, respectively for ovarian response and pregnancy diagnosis at day 30 post‐insemination. In Ovsynch Plus group, administration of eCG prior to GnRH1 increased (p < .001) the diameter (mm) of dominant follicle (DF) from 10.15 ± 0.26 to 12.23 ± 0.34 within 72 hr of treatment resulting higher ovulatory response to GnRH1. Ovulation after GnRH1 was higher (p < .01) in Ovsynch Plus group (96.6%) than Ovsynch group (61.5%). However, ovulation rate to GnRH2 was similar (p > .05) between groups (Ovsynch group: 76.9% vs. Ovsynch Plus group: 70.0%). Mean DF diameter (mm) that ovulated to both GnRHs was higher (p < .01) than non‐ovulated counterparts in both groups (Ovsynch group: 10.80 ± 0.27 vs. 8.47 ± 0.53; Ovsynch Plus group: 11.99 ± 0.24 vs. 9.5 ± 0.63). Pregnancy was established in buffaloes which responded to both GnRHs, irrespective of groups, being higher (p = .52) in Ovsynch Plus group (34.5%) than Ovsynch group (23.1%), though non‐significant. In summary, this study showed that eCG inclusion prior to Ovsynch regimen improves ovulatory response in anovular buffaloes during low‐breeding season. 相似文献

Breeding resistance to whitefly‐transmitted begomoviruses is an important goal of tomato breeding programmes worldwide. So far, resistance to begomoviruses in tomato has been achieved using wild species, and at least five resistance genes (Ty genes) have been studied. The present study was undertaken to combine Ty‐2 and Ty‐3 and to determine the effect of pyramiding on infection of tomato by three diverse begomovirus species. The diagnostic ability of the markers linked to Ty genes was assessed and marker‐assisted selection was used to develop pyramided tomato lines from the crosses between Ty stocks. Five stable pyramided tomato lines that differ in fruit morphology and yield potential were developed. The horticultural performance of pyramided lines in field trials showed that the yield and horticultural traits are well maintained in the plants. The response of these lines was assessed using agroinoculation and field tests in a disease hotspot. The pyramided lines and Ty‐3‐carrying lines exhibited a high level of resistance to the monopartite and two bipartite begomoviruses tested. The pyramided tomato lines developed in this study could be important genetic resources for sustainable tomato production in areas affected by tomato leaf curl virus disease. The combined results of disease resistance tests also showed that Ty‐3 is critical for achieving broad‐spectrum resistance. The limitations of relying on a single gene and the importance of pyramiding are discussed in the light of available evidence on frequent recombination in begomoviruses. 相似文献

Triticum timopheevii (genome symbol AAGG) comprises two subspecies, cultivated ssp. timopheevii, and wild ssp. armeniacum. These two subspecies are considered as allotetraploids of AA genome from Triticum diploid species and SS genome from Aegilops species. The difference in genome symbol (G vs. S) is due to wide genetic variations among four SS genome species, Ae. bicornis, Ae. longissima, Ae. searsii, and Ae. speltoides. In order to study the origin of T. timopheevii, we compared 19th intron (PI19) sequence of the PolA1 gene, encoding the largest subunit of RNA polymerase I. Two different sized DNA fragments containing PI19 sequences (PI19A
and PI19G) were amplified both in ssp. timopheevii and ssp. armeniacum. Shorter PI19A (112 bp) sequences of both subspecies were identical to PI19 sequences of two AA species, T. monococcum and T. urartu. Interestingly, the longer PI19G (241–243 bp) sequences of ssp. armeniacum showed more similarity to PI19 sequences of Ae. speltoides whereas ssp. timopheevii showed more similarity to PI19 sequences of other three SS genome species. The results indicated that two subspecies of T. timopheevii, ssp. armeniacum or ssp. timopheevii, might have arisen independently by allotetraploidization of AA genome with Ae. speltoides or one of the remaining three Aegilops species, respectively. 相似文献
