A 5-year-old female Chihuahua was presented for acute collapse. Laboratory examinations showed markedly elevated levels of hepatobiliary enzymes. Empiric antibiotic therapy for bacterial infection of the liver was ineffective. The clinical signs worsened with the development of hyponatremia with hypoosmolality and elevated urine sodium levels. The dog was suspected of having acute cholangiohepatitis associated with an immune-mediated disease. Subsequently, it was diagnosed with syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion (SIADH) on the basis of the specific disease criteria. Further tests showed normal function of the adrenal and thyroid glands, and MRI and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis did not show any intracranial diseases. Immunosuppressive therapy and water restriction resolved the clinical signs and improved the SIADH in this dog. This case indicates that SIADH can occur concurrently with suspected immune-mediated liver disease in dogs.  相似文献

We reported the controlled surface morphologies and the cell culture of polyelectrolyte multilayer coated nylon 6 fibrous mats with different number of layers. Polyelectrolyte multilayer coated nylon 6 fibers were successfully prepared by an alternative deposition of alginic acid sodium salt and chitosan via a Layer-by-Layer (LbL) electrostatic self-assembly. The surface morphology, stiffness, and hydrophilicity of polyelectrolyte multilayer coated nylon 6 fibrous mats could be finely tuned by regulating the number of polyelectrolyte nanocoating. It was observed that the morphology of polyelectrolyte multilayer coated nylon 6 fibers was uniform and smooth, indicating a dense and harder nanocoating of polyelectrolytes onto nylon 6 fibers. Compared to pure nylon 6 fibrous mat (tensile strength ~10.6±1 MPa), the tensile strength of polyelectrolyte coated nylon 6 fibrous mats was largely increased to 35.2±2 MPa for 5 bilayers coated fiber mats. In addition, it was found that at an initial stage after 1 day of cell culturing, the electrospun nylon 6 fibrous mats coated with 5 bilayer of alginic acid and chitosan show the highest cell affinity (good adhesion), while the electrospun nylon 6 fibrous mats coated with 10 bilayer show the lowest cell affinity. After cell seeding for 3 days, it was observed that rate of proliferation is enhanced by increasing the number of bilayer up to 3 bilayers (good proliferation), and then drastically decreased with further increasing the number of bilayer.  相似文献

Waterborne polyurethane (WBPU) dispersions were prepared via a pre-polymer process using 4,4-dicyclohexylmethane diisocyanate (H12MDI), poly(tetramethyleneoxideglycol) (PTMG), 2,2-dimethylol propionic acid (DMPA), ethylene diamine (EDA), and tertiary amines (TAs) with varying amounts of DMPA and TAs. Three TAs with different alkyl chain lengths were used to neutralize the DMPA carboxylic group: N,N-dimethylbutylamine (DMBA, C4), N,N-dimethylhexylamine (DMHA, C6), and N,N-dimethyloctylamine (DMOA, C8). The structures of the synthesized WBPUs were determined via FT-IR and 1H NMR spectroscopic techniques. The effects of DMPA and TA content and the TA alkyl chain length on stability of dispersions and properties such as water swelling (%), glass transition temperature (T g ), tensile strength, binding energy and adhesive strength were investigated. The initial adhesive strength of the intact coatings increased with increasing DMPA and TA content and increasing alkyl chain length of TA. However, after immersion of the coatings in water, the adhesive strength decreased. The maximum adhesive strength under water was observed at a DMPA content of 20.20 mol% with 5.30 wt% DMOA, which has the longest alkyl chain.  相似文献

Lotus-leaf-like nanofibrous surfaces were prepared by electrospinning hydrophobic poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) from a mixed solvent of N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) and acetone. PVDF fibrous mats with a bead-on-string morphology were generated because the nonpolar acetone decresed the viscosity of the PVDF solution and promoted the evaporation of the solution during electrospinning process. The morphology of the nanofibirous surface was examined by scanning electron microscopy. Micron-sized beads were introduced to the electrospun PVDF mats, resulting in enhanced hydrophobicity of the electrospun mats. The addition of a small amount (0.05 vol%) of acetic acid to the polymer solution effectively improved the bead-on-string morphology of the electrospun mats, and led to a higher water contact angle (WCA). The electrospun PVDF fibrous mat showed a maximum WCA of 148.5° due to the appropriate surface roughness.  相似文献

Phytic acid inhibits mineral absorption in the intestines of monogastric animals, inhibition which can contribute to public health problems in human populations. This research compared the nutritional properties of parent rice cultivar Il-pum with those of an Il-pum-derived, mutant low-phytate rice cultivar, Sang-gol. No significant differences were shown in moisture, fat, carbohydrate and mineral content between Il-pum and Sang-gol. In the composition of protein and fatty acid, there were also no differences between the two cultivars. In the nutritional aspects, though Sang-gol had a 50% lower phytate content than Il-pum, the total phosphorus contents in the two cultivars were shown to be similar. These results indicated that Sang-gol had similar nutritional properties to those of the parent cultivar Il-pum, with the added benefit of lower phytate content.  相似文献

Representative marine materials such as biopolymers and bioceramics contain bioactive properties and are applied in regenerative medicine and tissue engineering. The marine organism-derived extracellular matrix (ECM), which consists of structural and functional molecules, has been studied as a biomaterial. It has been used to reconstruct tissues and improve biological functions. However, research on marine-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) among marine functional materials is limited. Recent studies on marine-derived EVs were limited to eco-system studies using bacteria-released EVs. We aimed to expand the range of representative marine organisms such as fish, crustaceans, and echinoderms; establish the extraction process; and study the bioactivity capability of marine EVs. Results confirmed that marine organism ECM-anchored EVs (mEVs) have a similar morphology and cargos to those of EVs in land animals. To investigate physiological effects, lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-infected macrophages were treated with EVs derived from sea cucumber, fish, and shrimp. A comparison of the expression levels of inflammatory cytokine genes revealed that all types of mEVs alleviated pro-inflammatory cytokines, although to different degrees. Among them, the sea cucumber-derived EVs showed the strongest suppression ability. This study showed that research on EVs derived from various types of marine animals can lead to the development of high value-added therapeutics from discarded marine wastes.  相似文献

Air-classified wheat flour was dry-coated with microparticulated rice flour (30%, db) and/or microparticulated soybean hulls (up to 10%, db) using a hybridization system, and the physical properties of the dry-coated wheat flour were examined. The composite wheat flours exhibited the higher water-holding capacity but lower swelling power and oil-holding capacity than their counterpart mixtures. In pasting viscosity, the composites of wheat and rice flours had substantially lower values for peak viscosity and breakdown than did pure wheat flour. The incorporation of soybean hulls to the composites of wheat and rice flours further reduced the peak viscosity. The composites with rice flour and soybean hulls showed slightly higher melting (gelatinization) temperatures but lower melting enthalpy compared to the counterpart mixtures. By using the composite flours for the deep-fat fried doughnut preparation, the oil uptake could be substantially reduced by approximately 30%, in comparison to pure wheat flour or the mixture samples. The composite wheat flours with microparticulated rice flour and soybean hulls produced dough matrices with improved compactness and cell structure, which were attributed to the reduced fat uptake during frying.  相似文献

Two new (1 and 2) and one known phenazine derivative (lavanducyanin, 3) were isolated and identified from the fermentation broth of a marine-derived Streptomyces sp. (strain CNS284). In mammalian cell culture studies, compounds 1, 2 and 3 inhibited TNF-α-induced NFκB activity (IC50 values of 4.1, 24.2, and 16.3 μM, respectively) and LPS-induced nitric oxide production (IC50 values of >48.6, 15.1, and 8.0 μM, respectively). PGE2 production was blocked with greater efficacy (IC50 values of 7.5, 0.89, and 0.63 μM, respectively), possibly due to inhibition of cyclooxygenases in addition to the expression of COX-2. Treatment of cultured HL-60 cells led to dose-dependent accumulation in the subG1 compartment of the cell cycle, as a result of apoptosis. These data provide greater insight on the biological potential of phenazine derivatives, and some guidance on how various substituents may alter potential anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer effects.  相似文献
