The aim of this study was to realize whether soil mulching, with different plastic mulch colors, is a suitable practice under shade house (SH) conditions for the culture of cucumber. To do so, cucumber was cultured mulched or not with black, blue, red or white-on-black plastic films under SH, and contrasted against mulched cucumber in open field (OF). Red mulch produced the highest shoot dry weight per plant and bare soil the lowest. However, it was the white mulch which produced the highest commercial yield per plant. Contrastingly, bare soil plants produced the lowest commercial yield. SH plants two folded photosynthetic rates compared to OF plants. Mulch color mainly impacted leaf phosphorus (P) and magnesium (Mg) content while the SH affected nitrogen (K), calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg). Our results confirm that soil mulching, and shading positively impact the cucumber yield and quality but also show that soil mulching under SH enhances cucumber crop. 相似文献

A systematic study by HPLC was conducted to determine the content of chlorogenic acids in green coffee beans of the Variedad Colombia (Coffea arabica Caturra var. x Híbrido de Timor) and in other genotypes of interest of C. arabica, Coffea canephora, Híbrido de Timor, and the F1 offspring derived from the crossing Caturra x Híbrido de Timor. Comparisons were made of the total content of these acids, their quantitative differences, and the presence or absence of some of them, using parametric statistical techniques and multivariate analysis. Total content differences were found between C. canephora accessions, between Típica and Caturra varieties of C. arabica, and between Híbrido de Timor accessions. The chromatographic profile comparisons with principal component analysis separated in the first component C. canephora accessions from the rest of the genotypes, whereas the second component separated C. canephora accessions. 相似文献

Molecular mapping of an aluminum tolerance locus on chromosome 4D of Chinese Spring wheat 总被引:13,自引:0,他引:13
Summary The tolerance of aluminum (Al) of disomic substitution lines having the chromosomes of the D genome of Triticum aestivum L. cv. Chinese Spring individually substituted for their homoeologues in T. turgidum L. cv. Langdon was investigated by the hematoxylin method. The disomic substitution lines involving chromosome 4D were more Al tolerant than Langdon. The tolerance was found to be controlled by a single dominant gene, designated Alt2, that is in the proximal region of the long arm of chromosome 4D. The locus was mapped relative to molecular markers utilizing a population of recombinant chromosomes from homoeologous recombination between Chinese Spring chromosome 4D and T. turgidum chromosome 4B. Comparison of the location of Alt2 in this map with a consensus map of chromosomes 4B and 4D based on homologous recombination indicated that Alt2 is in a vicinity of a 4 cM interval delineated by markers Xpsr914 and Xpsr1051. The Alt2 locus is distal to marker Xpsr39 and proximal to XksuC2. The Altw locus is also proximal to the Knal locus on chromosome 4D that controls K+/Na+ selectivity and salt tolerance. In two lines, Alt 2 and Knal were transferred on a single 4D segment into the long arm of T. turgidum chromosome 4B. 相似文献

The influence of enzyme mixtures containing amylase and lipase activities on straight dough bread staling was studied. Amylopectin retrogradation, crumb firming, amylose-lipid complexes, and dextrin production were analyzed in bread samples supplemented with two enzyme mixtures. The addition of enzyme mixtures to bread formula causes a beneficial effect on bread keeping properties and the formation of a more thermostable amylose-lipid complex than the one found in control bread. Amylopectin retrogradation was inhibited by the use of the enzyme; the effect was accompanied by reduced crumb-firming rates. The enzymatically generated water-soluble dextrins (maltose and DP3, DP4, DP5, and DP6 dextrins) are the most effective in preserving crumb softness during bread storage. 相似文献

The relationship between the levels of cyanogenic compounds (amygdalin and prunasin) in kernels, leaves, and roots of 5 sweet-, 5 slightly bitter-, and 5 bitter-kernelled almond trees was determined. Variability was observed among the genotypes for these compounds. Prunasin was found only in the vegetative part (roots and leaves) for all genotypes tested. Amygdalin was detected only in the kernels, mainly in bitter genotypes. In general, bitter-kernelled genotypes had higher levels of prunasin in their roots than nonbitter ones, but the correlation between cyanogenic compounds in the different parts of plants was not high. While prunasin seems to be present in most almond roots (with a variable concentration) only bitter-kernelled genotypes are able to transform it into amygdalin in the kernel. Breeding for prunasin-based resistance to the buprestid beetle Capnodis tenebrionis L. is discussed. 相似文献

ABSTRACT Effect of calcium (Ca) foliar application on blueberry fruit characteristics during storage was investigated. Calcium applications began 28 d after flowering, two levels (3.9 g Ca2 + and 39 g Ca2 +) and a control without calcium were used (0.0; 3.0, and 30 mL L?1). The fruits were harvested on day 103 and were stored for 56 d at 2 ± 1°C. At harvest time the fruits had a significant statistical different concentration, which were maintained until the last day of storage. The fruit from the 30 mL L?1 treatment was the highest. The lowest texture levels are found with the treatment without calcium, which shows a statistically significant change from storage day 29. The LMP percentage did not varied in the fruit from the treatment with 30 mL L?1, but did in the fruit without calcium. Hunter L, b, and the index chromes were influenced by the applied calcium levels, significantly greater at 30 mL L?1; and by the time of storage in the fruits with treatment of 30 mL L?1. 相似文献

This study was conducted to obtain information on the properties of the nitrate (NO3 ‐) uptake system in Vicia faba. The results showed that in plants grown in the absence of NO3 ‐, they cannot absorb it upon initial exposure to this anion. When this plant makes contact with environmental NO3 ‐, NO3 ‐uptake by the roots is progressively induced. However, in NO3 ‐‐grown plants, the uptake system is yet induced so they had the ability to take up NO3 ‐ at high rates from the beginning. The Michaelis’ constant (K,M) and maximum uptake rate (Vmax) were estimated from measurements of NO3 ‐ depletion in the uptake medium. The apparent KM value for net NO3 ‐ uptake in induced V. faba plants was 60 μM and the corresponding Vmax 0.44 umol NO3 ‐ (g FW)‐1 h‐1. This last value was low compared with that of other species, while KM is in the range for other higher plants. From the results of our experiments at low and high NO3 ‐ concentrations, we discuss the possibility of the existence of two NO3 ‐ uptake systems, one of a high affinity (functioning at low NO3 ‐concentrations) and another of low affinity (operative at high NO3 ‐ level in the medium). 相似文献

Plants subjected to postharvest abiotic stresses synthesize secondary metabolites with health-promoting properties. Here, we report the potential use of carrots (Daucus carota) as biofactories of caffeoylquinic acids when subjected to wounding and hyperoxia stresses. Wounding stress induced an increase of ~287% in total phenolic content (PC) in carrots stored for 48 h at 20 °C. This increase was higher (~349%) in the wounded tissue treated with hyperoxia stress. To further understand the physiological role of reactive oxygen species (ROS) as a signaling molecule for the stress-induced accumulation of phenolics in carrots, the respiration rate as well as the enzymatic activities of NADPH oxidase, superoxide dismutase, ascorbate peroxidase, and catalase were evaluated. Likewise, shredded carrots were treated with diphenyleneiodonium chloride solution to block NADPH oxidase ROS productions, and the phenylalanine ammonia lyase activity and total PC were evaluated. Results demonstrated that ROS play a key role as a signaling molecule for the stress-induced accumulation of PC in carrots. 相似文献
