 A new race of Phytophthora vignae f. sp. adzukicola, designated race 4, is reported from central and western Hokkaido, Japan. The isolates obtained from diseased plants of a new cultivar, cv. Syumari, which is resistant to races 1, 2, and 3, were determined to be a new race by the pathogenic reaction on a set of differential adzuki bean cultivars (cv. Erimo-shozu, cv. Kotobuki-shozu, cv. In this study, we evaluated whether five rapid antigen detection kits for human influenza could be used for the diagnosis of equine influenza (EI). Limiting dilution analyses showed that Directigen Flu A+B and ESPLINE INFLUENZA A&B-N had the highest sensitivities to equine-2 influenza viruses (EIVs) among the kits investigated. From the results of virus detection in nasal swabs taken from horses infected with EIV, these two kits could produce positive results in reasonable agreement with those obtained by virus isolation or RT-PCR, suggesting that these kits could be useful for rapid diagnosis of EI in the field. However, from the viewpoint of specificity for EIV, Espline seems to be superior to Directigen.  相似文献

A total of 90 tumors from 85 domestic hamsters (70 Djungarian hamsters and 15 Syrian hamsters) were examined by histology. In the Djungarian hamsters, 64 neoplastic and 11 non-neoplastic lesions were identified, whereas 14 Syrian hamsters showed neoplastic disease, and one showed non-neoplastic disease. The Djungarian hamsters showed a high prevalence of neoplastic disease, similarly to laboratory Djungarian hamsters. In the Djungarian hamsters, almost all tumors were integumental, whereas hematopoietic tumors were the most common type in the Syrian hamsters. The most common integumental tumors in the Djungarian hamsters were mammary tumors, atypical fibromas and papillomas, and a spectrum of integumental tumors that have not been reported in laboratory Djungarian hamsters were identified. Most mammary tumors occurred in the females, whereas all atypical fibromas were observed in the males. In the Syrian hamsters, plasmacytomas and lymphomas were the most common tumors. The small number of Syrian hamsters in this study may reflect the low prevalence of spontaneous tumors seen in laboratory Syrian hamsters. The mean age of the affected hamsters was 19.8 months, which is relatively advanced. To our knowledge, this is the first comprehensive study of tumors in domestic hamsters.  相似文献

The influence of proanthocyanidin (PA) structures contained in bark on color development in the vanillin-hydrochloric acid (V-HCl) method used widely as a quantitative method for measuring PA were examined. The maximal absorption wavelength was different in terms of the bark from which the PA was obtained. Phenyl nucleus (resorcinol, phloroglucinol) constituting the A-ring of PA reacts with vanillin to produce the color. The maximal absorption wavelengths of the solutions from synthesized procyanidin and profisetinidin were 500 and 540 nm, respectively, indicating that the color tone differs in the V-HCl method based on the hydroxylation patterns of the A-ring. The colored solution of (+)-catechin with vanillin was dialyzed, and the resulting product (C-VC) was analyzed by gel permeation chromatography and 1H nuclear magnetic resonance. It was found that C-VC was a polymer complex consisting of 9mol (+)-catechin moieties and 10mol vanillin moieties. It was presumed that the cationized vanillin molecules that do not combine with (+)-catechin play an important role on color development in the presence of C-VC.This study was presented at the 44th and 45th Annual Meetings of The Japan Wood Research Society, Nara and Tokyo, April 1994 and April 1995  相似文献

The reduction of ferric chelate caused by various wood-rot fungi was analyzed. Ferric chelate reductive activity was detected in cell-free extracts of seven wood-rot fungi:Phanerochaete chrysosporium, P. sordida YK-624,Ganoderma sp. YK-505,Coriolus versicolor, Bjerkandera adusta, Tyromyces palustris, andGloeophyllum trabeum. These fungi produced NADPH- or NADH-dependent ferric chelate reductive enzymes (or both) of different molecular weight. In the liquid culture ofP. sordida YK-624 andC. versicolor, a positive correlation was observed between extracellular MnP activity and intracellular NADPH-dependent ferric chelate reductive activity.  相似文献

Expressed sequence tag (EST) analyses were performed with the aim of identifying enzyme genes in the liver of the Bleeker’s squid Loligo bleekeri. Of the 768 ESTs identified and sequenced, 669 were grouped into 324 clusters. Of these clusters, 123 comprising 245 ESTs were found to be homologous to genes reported to date. Among these, 43 clusters were annotated as enzymes according to the Enzyme Commission (EC) numbering system. Two EC groups, oxidoreductases and hydrolases, possessed a large number of ESTs. A cluster homologous to the glutathione peroxidase, an enzyme in the oxidoreductase group, contained 16 ESTs, which accounted for 2.4% of the total ESTs sequenced. There are three serine proteases, three cathepsins, two triacylgricerol lipases, and two chitinases among the clusters homologous to the enzymes in the hydrolase group. Since the squid liver functions in the digestive process, these enzymes would be involved in food digestion. Our data provide information on the various types of enzymes expressed in the squid liver and may provide a useful basis for further characterization of these enzymes.  相似文献

ABSTRACT:   Standard molecular techniques, such as sequencing and restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis after polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification are relatively complicated, and species identification can take a long time when using such techniques. We established a quick method, using PCR with species-specific TaqMan Minor Groove Binder (MGB) probes based on single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) to distinguish the two eel species Anguilla japonica and Anguilla anguilla . This method can be used in processed products. Partial sequences of the mitochondrial 16S rRNA gene were compared between A. japonica and A. anguilla to design a primer pair common to both A. japonica and A. anguilla and probes specific to A. japonica and A. anguilla . Different fluorescence intensities were produced in two PCR microtubes each containing A. japonica - and A. anguilla -specific probes for one target sample. We observed the fluorescence intensity of PCR products in microtubes under ultraviolet transillumination, with similar results to those obtained by real-time PCR. Therefore, SNP-based PCR is a powerful tool for identifying materials of processed foods from either A. japonica or A. anguilla .  相似文献

Changes in the diet have been previously reported to alter the gut bacterial profile in several organisms, including shrimp. These shifts in microbial structure either promote beneficial effects to the host or cause diseases. Supplementation of 5‐aminolevulinic acid (5‐ALA), the precursor of tetrapyrroles, has been previously reported to enhance shrimp's immune response. To know whether 5‐ALA has effects on the gut bacterial structure in Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei), we investigated the bacterial communities in the intestine and stomach of L. vannamei using high‐throughput Illumina sequencing of 16S rRNA gene libraries. One week of 5‐ALA supplementation altered the bacterial community structure (beta diversity) in both tissues, as shown by the results of multi‐dimensional scaling (MDS) plots and analysis of similarities (ANOSIM). DESeq2 analysis revealed enrichment of differentially abundant taxa in the 5‐ALA group (e.g. Enhydrobacter and Oceaniovalibus) and control group (e.g. Tenacibaculum and Mycobacterium). Metagenomic predictions suggested that the control group had more KEGG pathways associated with ‘metabolism’ than the 5‐ALA group. This study suggests that 5‐ALA supplementation potentially promotes the formation of a beneficial bacterial community structure in shrimp. This is the first report on the effect of 5‐ALA supplementation on the bacterial community profile in any organism.  相似文献
