Background: The objective of the study was to evaluate the effect of overfeeding a moderate energy diet and a2,4-thiazolidinedione(TZD) injection on blood and hepatic tissue biomarkers of lipid metabolism, oxidative stress,and inflammation as it relates to insulin sensitivity.Results: Fourteen dry non-pregnant cows were fed a control(CON) diet to meet 100% of NRC requirements for3 wk, after which half of the cows were assigned to a moderate-energy diet(OVE) and half of the cows continued on CON for 6 wk. All cows received an intravenous injection of 4 mg TZD/kg of body weight(BW) daily from 2 wk after initiation of dietary treatments and for 2 additional week. Compared with CON cows and before TZD treatment, the OVE cows had lower concentration of total protein, urea and albumin over time. The concentration of cholesterol and tocopherol was greater after 2 wk of TZD regardless of diet. Before and after TZD, the OVE cows had greater concentrations of AST/GOT, while concentrations of paraoxonase, total protein, globulin, myeloperoxidase, and haptoglobin were lower compared with CON cows. Regardless of diet, TZD administration increased the concentration of ceruloplasmin, ROMt, cholesterol, tocopherol, total protein, globulin, myeloperoxidase and beta-carotene. In contrast,the concentration of haptoglobin decreased at the end of TZD injection regardless of diet. Prior to TZD injection, the mR NA expression of PC, ANGPTL4, FGF21, INSR, ACOX1, and PPARD in liver of OVE cows was lower compared with CON cows. In contrast, the expression of HMGCS2 was greater in OVE compared with CON cows. After 1 wk of TZD administration the expression of IRS1 decreased regardless of diet; whereas, expression of INSR increased after 2 wk of TZD injection. Cows fed OVE had lower overal expression of TNF, INSR, PC, ACOX1, FGF21, and PPARD but greater HMGCS2 expression. These differences were most evident before and after 1 wk of TZD injection, and by 2 wk of TZD differences in expression for most genes disappeared.Conclusions: Based on molecular and blood data, administration of TZD enhanced some aspects of insulin sensitivity while causing contradictory results in terms of inflammation and oxidative stress. The bovine liver is TZD-responsive and level of dietary energy can modify the effects of TZD. Because insulin sensitizers have been proposed as useful tools to manage dairy cows during the transition period, further studies are required to investigate the potential hepatotoxicity effect of TZD(or similar compounds) in dairy cattle.  相似文献

The spread of rice pests such as BPH in tropical areas is one of the best-known yield lost factors. Remote sensing can support precision farming practices for determining the location of spreads and using pesticide in the right place. In a specifically conducive environment like high temperature and heavy rainfall, BPH population will increase. To address this issue, detection of sheath blight in rice farming was examined by using SPOT-5 images. Also, the extraction of weather data derived from Landsat images for comparing with the BPH infestation was undertaken. Results showed that all the indices that recognize infected plants are significant at α = 0.01. Examination of the association between the disease indices indicated that band 3 (near infrared) and band 4 (mid infrared) in SPOT-5 images have a relatively high correlation for detecting diseased part from healthy ones. The selected indices declared better association for detecting healthy plants from diseased ones. Image investigations revealed that BPH were existing at the higher limits of tolerable temperatures when in the form of nymphs. With the knowledge that the late growth stage of plants has more severe BPH attacks, the results stated that BPH outbreak is particularly obvious in the north-west corner and middle regions of the maps and it is more likely to happen in specified ranges of temperature and RH, i.e. 29 °C <T< 32 °C, and 88 % <RH< 93 %.  相似文献

A study was conducted to determine chemical composition and ruminal nutrient degradability of eight spineless cactus cultivars grown in northeastern Brazil. Results showed that neutral detergent fiber was similar for all cultivars and averaged 249 g · kg-1 ± 7.3 SEM. Acid detergent fiber ranged between 148 g · kg-1 and 207 g · kg-1 with some significant differences between cultivars. Starch and water-soluble carbohydrates were similar for all cultivars and averaged 198 g · kg-1 ± 6.3 SEM and 155 g · kg-1 ± 9.0 SEM, respectively. Protein content was less than 50 g · kg-1 with some significant differences between cultivars. Calcium was the mineral with the highest concentration followed by potassium and magnesium with no differences between cultivars. Effective ruminal degradability of dry matter and neutral detergent fiber were unaffected by cultivar and averaged 701 g · kg-1 ± 8.4 SEM and 503 g · kg-1 ± 5.8 SEM, respectively. It was concluded that cultivars had little impact on chemical composition and ruminal degradability of spineless cactus. Based on chemical composition and in situ ruminal degradability, spineless cactus can be considered an excellent source of fermentable carbohydrates for grazing and nongrazing ruminants. Because of its high carbohydrate quality, spineless cactus can be used an emergency feed or as part of a complete diet providing that the diet contains an adequate amount of degradable protein.  相似文献

1. A study was conducted to determine the effects of dried broccoli floret (DBF) on egg production parameters, egg quality and apparent nutrient digestibility of laying hens. It was hypothesised that feeding DBF can improve egg quality without adversely affecting layer performance.2. Seventy-two White Leghorn layers aged 62 weeks were randomly allotted to 4 dietary treatments (6 cage replicates with 3 hens each) and fed diets containing 0, 40, 80 and 120 g/kg DBF in feed for 56 d.3. Inclusion of DBF had no effect on feed intake, egg production, feed conversion ratio or egg components. However, egg weight increased (linear effect, P < 0.05) as the level of DBF in the diet increased. Egg breakage strength, eggshell strength and Haugh unit were not influenced by dietary treatments. Egg yolk colour (quadratic effect, = 0.002) and α-tocopherol concentration (quadratic effect, < 0.0001) improved as a result of DBF inclusion. Egg yolk cholesterol concentration was not altered by DBF inclusion. Apparent total tract nutrient (dry matter, organic matter and crude protein) digestibility coefficients decreased (linear effect, P < 0.05) as the level of DBF increased.4. Feeding DBF to layers up to 120 g/kg of the diet had no negative effects on feed intake, egg production and feed efficiency and improved egg yolk colour and α-tocopherol concentration. However, total tract nutrient digestibility coefficients were negatively decreased as a result of DBF inclusion.  相似文献

An efficient in vitro plant regeneration was achieved from hypocotyl-derived callus of a medicinal tree Phellodendron amurense. The expected morphogenic response was obtained on the media containing 0.89 µM 6-benzyl aminopurine (BAP) plus 4.52 µM 2.4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D), 4.44 µM BAP plus 5.37 µM α-naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA), or 2.22 µM BAP plus 4.92 µM indole-3-butyric acid (IBA). A detailed histological study was undertaken to gain a better understanding of cellular changes that take place during the plant regeneration process from callus tissue. This study led to the identification of the cellular origin of shoot regeneration. Histological studies revealed that the new vegetative buds originated from callus that completely altered the morphology of the callus tissues by the 60th day of culture. It also revealed that BAP with NAA or IBA induces plant regeneration through organogenesis whereas BAP with 2,4-D induces embryo-like-structure (ELS) through hypocotyl-derived callus. The presence of ELS lacking root poles was also observed.  相似文献

Globally about half of the world's population is under micronutrient malnutrition due to poor quality food intake. To overcome this problem, fortification and biofortification techniques are often used. Biofortification is considered a better option than fortification due to the easy control of nutrient deficiencies present in daily food. This field experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of foliar application of a micronutrient mixture(MNM) consisting of zinc(Zn), iron(Fe), copper(Cu), manganese(Mn) and boron(B) on yield and flour quality of wheat. The results show the effectiveness of foliar feeding for growth and yield parameters, in addition to the enriching of wheat grains with Zn, Cu, Fe, Mn and B. Compared to the control without foliar feeding, foliar application on wheat crop increased tillering ability, spike length, grain yield and the contents of Zn, Cu, Mn, Fe and B by 21, 47, 22, 22 and 25% in wheat flour, respectively. Therefore, foliar feeding of micronutrients could be an effective approach to enrich wheat grains with essential nutrients for correcting malnutrition.  相似文献

This study was planned to express the detailed traits of Karayaka sheep reared in Tokat province, also influencing factors on the traits were evaluated. While year effect was significant on 8 weeks weight, scanning weight, fat depth and muscle area, all the evaluated traits including birth weight and muscle depth were significantly affected by season (p < 0.05). Dam age was significant on birth weight (p < 0.05). Birth weight and 8 week weight were significantly affected by sex and birth type. Sex effect has been appeared on muscle depth while birth type effect has been detected on scanning weight (p < 0.05). While the strongest phenotypic correlation coefficient was detected between muscle depth and muscle area, the weakest ones were found between birth weight and scanning traits.  相似文献

The gazelles (Gazella subgutturosa), which are at the risk of extinction and are legally protected, have a cultural and aesthetic value in Turkey. It becomes incredibly important to increase their numbers in order to ensure their survival. In this context, it is required to examine thoroughly the pelvic cavity which contains reproductive organs and is used as the birth canal, as well. This study was conducted to determine the pelvimetric data of the gazelles by scanning their pelvic cavity via a multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) and preparing three-dimensional models of the pelvic cavity. Twelve adult (6 females, 6 males) gazelle carcasses were used in the study. After the pelvic cavity was scanned using the MDCT device with 64 detectors at 80 kV, 200 mA, 639 mGY and 0.625 mm cross-section thickness, the MDCT images were obtained. The three-dimensional models of the images obtained using MIMICS 20.1 (The Materialise Group, Leuven, Belgium) program were prepared. Pelvimetric measurements of the pelvic cavity were taken using these models. It was determined based on the pelvimetric examinations that there was a significant difference between the female and male gazelles in terms of conjugate diameter, vertical diameter, intermediate traversal diameter, and cranial and medial transverse diameter data at p < .05. Also, there was a significant difference in their data related to caudal transverse diameter and ischial arch at p < .01. Consequently, it is thought that the use of pelvimetric values belonging to the pelvic cavity of gazelles would reveal the sexual dimorphism of the species and its differences with other species and would contribute to clinical sciences.  相似文献
