Fusarium wilt of melon caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. melonis is a destructive fungal disease in melon growing regions. Isolates of F. oxysporum obtained from six major melon producing provinces in Iran, from melons and other hosts, were characterized based on pathogenicity to melon, vegetative compatibility groups (VCGs) and nuclear ribosomal DNA intergenic spacer (IGS) sequencing. Thirty-four of 41 isolates from Iran in this study were identified as race 1,2 which belonged to either VCG 0134 or an unassigned VCG, which based on IGS sequencing grouped with the VCG 0135 tester isolate. The seven remaining isolates were identified as nonpathogenic to melon belonging to two undescribed VCGs. Based on sequence analyses of the IGS region of Iranian and foreign isolates, nine lineages were identified, each including one VCG. The separation of VCGs into distinct lineages based on IGS sequences is mostly consistent with Repetitive extragenic palindromic PCR (Rep-PCR) results. Exceptions are VCGs 0130 and 0131, which could be differentiated with IGS sequences, but not with Rep-PCR. Different races from the USA, France and Iran associated with VCG 0134 grouped into one IGS lineage but could be differentiated with Rep-PCR, suggesting that this VCG is more diverse than previously thought. Given the long history of melon cultivation in Iran and the Rep-PCR diversity of isolates belonging to this VCG, it could be speculated that VCG 0134 perhaps evolved in Iran.  相似文献

Biological invasions can alter soil properties within the range of their introduced, leading to impacts on ecosystem services, ecosystem functions, and biodiversity. To better understand the impacts of biological invasions on soil, we compared topsoil physiochemical properties at sites with invasive alien tree species (Prosopis juliflora), native tree species (Prosopis cineraria, Acacia tortilis, and Acacia ehrenbergiana), and mixed tree species in Hormozgan Province of Iran in May 2018. In this study, we collected 40 soil samples at a depth of 10 cm under single tree species, including P. juliflora, P. cineraria, A. tortilis, and A. ehrenbergiana, as well as under mixed tree species. The results showed that organic matter, moisture, potassium, calcium, nitrogen, and magnesium in topsoil at sites with A. tortilis and A. ehrenbergiana growing in combination with P. cineraria were higher than that at sites where P. juliflora was present (P<0.05). Sodium at sites with A. tortilis and A. ehrenbergiana growing in combination with P. cineraria and P. juliflora was lower as compared to that at sites with just A. tortilis and A. ehrenbergiana. Electrical conductivity was lower at sites with A. tortilis and A. ehrenbergiana growing in combination with P. cineraria, and it was higher at sites with mixed Acacia and P. juliflora trees. Based on the generally more positive effect of native Acacia and P. cineraria on topsoil physiochemical properties as compared to the P. julifora, afforestation with native tree species is preferable for soil restoration. In addition, due to the negative effects of P. julifora on soil properties, P. julifora spread should be better managed.  相似文献

Information is scant on the mineral nutrition of plants undergoing partial rootzone drying (PRD). Researchers applied PRD to ‘Petopride’ tomato in a glasshouse by alternating irrigation to one side of the plant with half of the water in control (C). Roots in PRD treatment had higher magnesium (Mg) and copper (Cu) than C roots. Leaves in PRD treatment had lower P and higher K than C leaves. Minerals in leaves of C and PRD were within literature reported sufficiency ranges. Fruit of the PRD treatment had higher nitrogen (N) and zinc (Zn), but lower phosphorus (P), calcium (Ca), manganese (Mn) and boron (B) than C fruit. Mineral nutrition of fruit was most affected by PRD compared to that of leaf and root. Fruit of the PRD treatment had a higher incidence of blossom end rot (BER) than C fruit. Incidence of BER notwithstanding, although PRD affected the mineral nutrition of the tomato plant, there was no evidence that the lower yield in PRD was due to poor mineral nutrition.  相似文献

Increasing water and fertilizer productivity stands as a relevant challenge for sustainable agriculture. Alternate furrow irrigation and surface fertigation have long been identified as water and fertilizer conserving techniques in agricultural lands. The objective of this study was to simulate water flow and fertilizer transport in the soil surface and in the soil profile for variable and fixed alternate furrow fertigation and for conventional furrow fertigation. An experimental data set was used to calibrate and validate two simulation models: a 1D surface fertigation model and the 2D subsurface water and solute transfer model HYDRUS-2D. Both models were combined to simulate the fertigation process in furrow irrigation. The surface fertigation model could successfully simulate runoff discharge and nitrate concentration for all irrigation treatments. Six soil hydraulic and solute transport parameters were inversely estimated using the Levenberg–Marquardt optimization technique. The outcome of this process calibrated HYDRUS-2D to the observed field data. HYDRUS-2D was run in validation mode, simulating water content and nitrate concentration in the soil profiles of the wet furrows, ridges and dry furrows at the upstream, middle and downstream parts of the experimental field. This model produced adequate agreement between measured and predicted soil water content and nitrate concentration. The combined model stands as a valuable tool to better design and manage fertigation in alternate and conventional furrow irrigation.  相似文献

Reuse of sturgeon broodfish for propagation could provide an opportunity to ease fishing pressure on the wild stocks of these valued species. A minimally invasive surgical technique (MIST) for the removal of ovulated eggs from the beluga, Huso huso, was tested on broodfish caught from the wild to determine whether it affected fecundity or hatching rates when compared with the traditional stripping method that involves killing the fish and removing the eggs. In comparison with the traditional procedures, MIST is rapid: it can be performed in between 8 and 15 min per fish. Morphological parameters of female beluga, germinal vesicle position, weight of obtained eggs, fertilization rate, and percentage hatching during incubation were not significantly different between the MIST and the traditional procedure. The fish remained healthy 4 weeks after surgery. The final results of this study showed that the MIST approach is efficient, practical, and less stressful to beluga broodfish during artificial propagation than other reported egg collection procedures.  相似文献
