We identified and quantified specific biomarkers of shoots and roots (cutin and suberin‐derived compounds, respectively) of three grassland species (Dactylis glomerata L., Festuca arundinacea Schreb. and Lolium perenne L.) in soil under different land use (grass, crop and bare soil) of the SOERE‐ACBB experimental site in Lusignan (France). We also investigated the fate of these markers in soil after conversion from grassland (C3 plants) to Zea mays L. (maize) (C4 plant) with natural 13C isotope abundances. Our results indicated that 9‐hydroxy hexadecanedioic acid and 8(9)(10),16‐dihydroxy hexadecanoic acid may be used as biomarkers for above‐ground biomass, whereas 1,22‐docosandioic acid, 22‐hydroxy docosanoic acid and 24‐hydroxy tetracosanoic acid might be the best below‐ground biomarkers for the plants investigated under the experimental conditions studied. The presence, concentration and shoot–root allocation pattern of these markers were different from those described for other species, which demonstrates the importance of verifying biomarker specificity for each species. Concentrations of cutin and suberin were largest in soil under maize and smallest under bare soil; this corresponded to the biomass added to the two soils. Suberin decreased by 40–64% and cutin by 24–40% during a 6‐year bare fallow, which indicates that root markers were more sensitive than shoot markers to degradation. Changes in 13C isotopic signatures of specific biomarkers after 6 years of maize showed a faster turnover of root than shoot biomarkers, in spite of the much smaller root inputs from maize than from grasses. The sequestration of suberin in soil was more rapid but less durable than that of cutin.  相似文献

Ploidy level and intergenomic recombination was studied in interspecific hybrids between Longiflorum × Asiatic lilies (LA hybrid) backcross to Asiatic parents in order to assess the possibility for analytic breeding in lily. By backcrossing the diploid (2n = 2x = 24) F1 interspecific hybrid between Longiflorum × Asiatic lilies to Asiatic parents, 104 BC1 progeny plants were produced. Among these, there were 27 diploids, 73 triploids (2n = 2x = 36) and 4 aneuploids (2x − 1, 2x + 2 or 2x + 3). In addition, by backcrossing triploid BC1 (LAA) plants to diploid Asiatic parents in 2x − 3x and reciprocal combinations, 14 diploid BC2 progenies were produced. Genomic in situ hybridization (GISH) was performed to study the intergenomic recombination and karyotype composition. GISH indicated extensive intergenomic recombination among the chromosomes in LA hybrids. A large number of Longiflorum chromosomes were transmitted to the BC1 progenies from LA hybrids. However, very few Longiflorum chromosomes were transmitted from the BC1 triploid (LAA) plants to the BC2 progenies. The occurrence of diploid plants in the BC progenies of LA hybrids has opened the prospects of analytic breeding in lilies. In this approach, the selection of superior genotypes can be carried out at the diploid level and polyploid forms are synthesized from superior diploid parents. The advantages of analytic breeding are evident: (a) a maximum level of heterozygosity can be attained in the synthetic polyploids and (b) introgression can be achieved with a minimum of linkage drag. Based on GISH results the potential application of analytic breeding in lily allopolyploids has been discussed.  相似文献

Alternanthera repens and Bidens odorata are used as medication for gastrointestinal diseases today, mainly in relation to diarrhea; therefore, pharmacological tests with aqueous and ethanol extracts of both species were carried out in mice. Using charcoal meal, the activity of the four extracts on intestinal motility was determined, finding that they inhibit the advance of the gastrointestinal content. Also, the lethal media doses were estimated in order to examine the plants' safety. The data confirmed the validity of the medicinal use for both plant species, contributing to explain the use of these plants as antidiarrheal agents in Mexican traditional medicine.  相似文献

Four spring wheat genotypes (Triticum aestivum L.) were grown without (N0 = 0 kg N ha?1) and under ample (N1 = 250 kg ha?1) nitrogen (N) fertilizer in field experiments in two seasons. The aim was to assess genotypic variation in N use efficiency (NUE) components and N-related indices during grain filling thus to identify superior wheat genotypes. Leaf chlorophyll (SPAD) readings at crucial growth stages were employed to help differentiate genotypes. Interrelations between yield and N-related indices with SPAD, where also assessed to explain possible pathways of improving NUE early in the growing season. Results showed that genotypic effects on NUE were mostly evident in 2000, a year with drier preanthesis and wetter postanthesis than the normal periods. ‘Toronit’ almost always had the highest biomass yield (BY) and grain yield (GY). Except in 1999 under N0, ‘L94491? showed the highest % grain N concentration (GNC). Genotypes affected SPAD at almost all stages and N fertilization delayed leaf senescence for all genotypes and growth seasons. Correlations between SPAD at different growth stages and GY, N biomass yield at maturity (NBYM) and GNC were significant (P≤ 0.001), positive and strong/very strong (>r = 0.7). N translocation efficiency (NTE) was inversely related to PANU (~r = ? 0.77, P≤ 0.001), suggesting that N after anthesis is being preferentially transported to the ears to meet the N demand of the growing grains. It is concluded that there is still a large potential for increased NUE by improved N recirculation, use of fast and inexpensive crop N monitoring tools and high yielding, N uptake efficient genotypes.

Transversus abdominis plane (TAP) is a fascial plane containing the thoracolumbar nerve branches that innervate the abdominal wall. Limited information is available on the anatomical organization of these nerve branches in the dog, which is of great importance for the success of the TAP block anaesthetic technique. The aim of this study was to describe the origin and conformation of thoracolumbar nerves running through the TAP in 20 hemi‐abdominal walls of 10 adult mongrel dog cadavers with an average body weight of 12.6 kg (range: 9.6‐15.6). The abdominal walls were dissected from superficial to deep direction, the skin and both obliquus externus abdominis and obliquus internus abdominis muscles were dissected and reflected dorsally to expose the transversus abdominis muscle and the thoracolumbar nerve branches located in this plane. The anatomical features of ventral nerve branches were described. The thoracic nerve branches: T7–T12 and costoabdominalis; and the lumbar nerve branches: iliohypogastricus cranialis, iliohypogastricus caudalis, ilioinguinalis and cutaneus femoris lateralis were identified in all the cadavers. Anatomical variations related to the presence or absence within the TAP of the T7, T8 and T9 nerve branches were found. These variations should be taken into account when planning the TAP block technique in dogs.  相似文献

Renibacterium salmoninarum is the causative agent of bacterial kidney disease, which significantly affects salmonid farming worldwide. Despite this impact, there is scarce data on its iron uptake ability, a factor of pathogenesis. This study investigated the iron acquisition mechanisms of R. salmoninarum and its capacity to uptake iron from different sources. Thirty‐two Chilean isolates and the DSM20767T type strain grew in the presence of 2,2′‐Dipyridyl at varying concentrations (250–330 μm ), and all isolates positively reacted on chrome azurol S agar. Subsequently, inocula of four Chilean isolates and the type strain were prepared with or without 200 μm of 2,2′‐Dipyridyl for uptake assays. Assay results revealed differences between the isolates in terms of iron acquisition. While a prior iron‐limited environment was, for most isolates, not required to activate the uptake of iron (II) sulphate, ammonium iron (III) citrate or iron (III) chloride at higher concentrations (100 μm ), it did facilitate growth at lower iron concentrations (10 μm and 1 μm ). An exception was the H‐2 isolate, which only grew with 100 μm of iron sulphide. In turn, 100 μm of haemin was toxic when isolates were grown in normal KDM‐2. In silico R. salmoninarumATCC 33209T genome analysis detected various genes coding iron uptake‐related proteins. This is the first study indicating two iron acquisition systems in R. salmoninarum: one involving siderophores and another involving haem group utilization. These data represent a first step towards fully elucidating this virulence factor in the pathogenic R. salmoninarum.  相似文献

This paper studies fire severity through changes in the composition of the 1:5 soil: water extract in burnt and unburnt samples collected after a wildfire that affected 7.1 ha of mountainous broom scrub (Teide broom, Spartocytisus supranubius L.) in Tenerife (Canary Islands). Soil samples were collected over a regular sampling grid and analysed for pH, electrical conductivity (E.C.), and soluble cations (Ca+2, Mg+2, K+, and NH4+–N) and anions (P, SO4− 2–S, and NO3?N). A visual estimation of fire effects on individual broom plants was also conducted. The results show significant differences between burnt and unburnt samples for pH, E.C. and soluble ions (except for P), which generally agrees with data reported in the literature. Although fire severity, as estimated from the degree of fuel combustion, correlated significantly with most of the studied parameters, the qualitative fire severity indexes failed to discriminate sample groups apparently exposed to moderate fire severity conditions. Multivariate statistical analysis (PCA) allowed extracting two main factors, capable to account for 88% of total variability, after rejecting three variables (inorganic N-forms and K+). These factors were related to fire severity and pH-dependent Ca+2 and P reactions, respectively.  相似文献
