In this study, we evaluated the feasibility for the use of digested slurry from livestock manure (hereafter, slurry) in paddy fields through field experiments conducted in Southern Vietnam. The pouring method for slurry was used, and a vacuum truck was used for transportation and pouring of the slurry. A prototype slurry tanker was manufactured for transportation and application of slurry, because vacuum trucks are rarely available in rural areas of Vietnam. For evaluation of feasibility, costs and labor for application of slurry and rice production were examined and compared with conventional cultivation methods using chemical fertilizers. As the results, rice production with the use of slurry was 485 g m?2, which is within the range of on-site conventional cultivation, so slurry may be a good substitute for chemical fertilizers in rice production. Costs for slurry fertilization with a prototype slurry tanker and a vacuum truck were estimated at 0.13 USD m?2 and 0.10 USD m?2, respectively. These costs were higher than for conventional cultivation of 0.06 USD m?2 under the present conditions with T-N concentrations of approximately 400 mg L?1 in the slurry. However, we clarified that the cost for slurry fertilization can be lower than conventional cultivation when the concentrations of nitrogen in slurry increase from 400 to 2000 mg L?1. These results show that an increase in nitrogen concentrations in slurry make slurry fertilization feasible if the amounts of water for washing livestock sheds that enter into the biogas digesters are reduced.  相似文献

Boron Fixation and Its Release in Soils and Bark Compost   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Batch studies were conducted to investigate the fixing and release behavior of boron (B) in the soils from Haruo-cho, Kochi, and a bark compost (BC). Boron fixation on river sand (RS) was extremely low. The amount of B fixed was 6.3 mg kg−1 for the greenhouse soil (GS). However, BC showed a 10-fold higher fixation of B (64.1 mg kg−1) compared to GS, indicating that BC here displayed a significant capacity for B trapping. In GS, only around 9% of the adsorbed B was released during a 1-month period of incubation. Bark compost showed the highest amount of release during the incubation period, accounting for 64% of the adsorbed B. Moreover, the ratio of B release increased to 77% in the case of the soil mixed with BC. These results, suggest that different kinds of fixation-releasing mechanisms operate in the soil and BC. The B fixation on soil is considered as specific adsorption on minerals. A possible mechanism for B fixation on BC is ligand exchange. B-diol complexes might be formed with BC, and then after decomposition by microorganisms, they may release B during the incubation period.  相似文献

Modern pig production contributes to many environmental problems that relate to manure, especially in areas with highly intensive production systems and in regions like Asia where the regulative control is not effective. Therefore, the objective of this study was to use three different pig diets varying in dietary protein, fibre and fat as representative for Danish (DK), Thai (TH) and Vietnamese (VN) pig production to develop and evaluate different approaches to predict/calculate excretion from growing pigs in comparison with the experimentally determined values.Nine female growing pigs were used in a digestibility and balance experiment. Excretion of dry matter (DM), nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and carbon (C) of the experimental diets were determined.Due to the highest dietary fibre content, VN had the lowest digestibility of N, P and C (73, 49, and 73%, respectively) compared with the DK and TH pig diets. From the known diet composition using standard table values on chemical and nutrient digestibly, high accuracy (bias) and low variation was found and the results could be used for prediction on chemical composition and excretion in faeces and urine in growing pigs. Calculation based on standard values regarding nutrient retention in the pig body as used in the Danish manure normative system (DMNS) showed likewise to be quite useful for quantifying the total excretion of N and P.Overall, the results demonstrate that simple models that require cheap and normally available information on dietary nutrients can give useful information on nutrient excretion in growing pigs.  相似文献

ObjectiveTo compare cardiac output (CO) measured by Doppler echocardiography and thermodilution techniques in spontaneously breathing dogs during continuous infusion of propofol. To do so, CO was obtained using the thermodilution method (COTD) and Doppler evaluation of pulmonary flow (CODP) and aortic flow (CODA).Study designProspective cohort study.AnimalsEight adult dogs weighing 8.3 ± 2.0 kg.MethodsPropofol was used for induction (7.5 ± 1.9 mg kg?1 IV) followed by a continuous rate infusion at 0.7 mg kg?1 minute?1. The animals were positioned in left lateral recumbency on an echocardiography table that allowed for positioning of the transducer at the 3rd and 5th intercostal spaces of the left hemithorax for Doppler evaluation of pulmonary and aortic valves, respectively. CODP and CODA were calculated from pulmonary and aortic velocity spectra, respectively. A pulmonary artery catheter was inserted via the jugular vein and positioned inside the lumen of the pulmonary artery in order to evaluate COTD. The first measurement of COTD, CODP and CODA was performed 30 minutes after beginning continuous infusion (T0) and then at 15‐minute intervals (T15, T30, T45 and T60). Numeric data were submitted to two‐way anova for repeated measurements, Pearson’s correlation coefficient and Bland &; Altman analysis. Data are presented as mean ± SD.ResultsAt T0, COTD was lower than CODA. CODA was higher than COTD and CODP at T30, T45 and T60. The difference between the COTD and CODP, when all data were included, was ?0.04 ± 0.22 L minute?1 and Pearson’s correlation coefficient (r) was 0.86. The difference between the COTD and CODA was ?0.87 ± 0.54 L minute?1 and r = 0.69. For COTD and CODP, the difference was ?0.82 ± 0.59 L minute?1 and r = 0.61.ConclusionDoppler evaluation of pulmonary flow was a clinically acceptable method for assessing the CO in propofol‐anesthetized dogs.  相似文献

In Vietnam, livestock farming policy is designed to develop milk production to increase the country's dairy self-sufficiency. However, workload is one of the main constraints limiting the potential for increasing production and herd sizes on family-run farms. The aim of this paper was to explore the relationships connecting work organisation forms and durations to herd sizes in order to understand the impacts of rationalising work by increasing herd numbers. A work organisation survey was carried on 19 dairy farmers in two regions of northern Vietnam. Statistical analysis was run to identify relationships between herd size, work organisation forms and work durations. A cluster analysis was used to establish a typology. The results show that the volume of routine work is higher in large herds but is also more efficient. Farmers running large herds lighten their family workload by mechanising routine tasks and by employing permanent contract workers. The paper concludes on a set of guidance strategies to help dairy farms develop their activity, such as hiring farm labour and mechanising farm tasks.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Monitoring studies revealed high concentrations of pesticides in the drainage canal of paddy fields. It is important to have a way to predict these concentrations in different management scenarios as an assessment tool. A simulation model for predicting the pesticide concentration in a paddy block (PCPF‐B) was evaluated and then used to assess the effect of water management practices for controlling pesticide runoff from paddy fields. RESULTS: The PCPF‐B model achieved an acceptable performance. The model was applied to a constrained probabilistic approach using the Monte Carlo technique to evaluate the best management practices for reducing runoff of pretilachlor into the canal. The probabilistic model predictions using actual data of pesticide use and hydrological data in the canal showed that the water holding period (WHP) and the excess water storage depth (EWSD) effectively reduced the loss and concentration of pretilachlor from paddy fields to the drainage canal. The WHP also reduced the timespan of pesticide exposure in the drainage canal. CONCLUSIONS: It is recommended that: (1) the WHP be applied for as long as possible, but for at least 7 days, depending on the pesticide and field conditions; (2) an EWSD greater than 2 cm be maintained to store substantial rainfall in order to prevent paddy runoff, especially during the WHP. The vascular changes associated with endometrial maturation in preparation for embryo implantation depend on numerous growth factors, known to regulate key angiogenic events. Primarily, the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) family promotes vascular growth, whilst the angiopoietins maintain blood vessel integrity. The aim was to analyse protein levels of VEGFA ligand and receptors, Angiopoietin‐1 and 2 (ANG1/2) and endothelial cell receptor tyrosine kinase (TIE‐2) in the ovine endometrium in the follicular and luteal phases of the oestrus cycle and in response to ovarian steroids. VEGFA and its receptors were localized in both vascular cells and non‐vascular epithelium (glandular and luminal epithelium) and stroma cells. VEGFA and VEGFR2 proteins were elevated in vascular cells in follicular phase endometrium, compared to luteal phase, most significantly in response to oestradiol. VEGFR1 was expressed by epithelial cells and endothelial cells and was stimulated in response to oestradiol. In contrast, Ang‐1 and Ang‐2 proteins were elevated in luteal phase endometrium compared to follicular phase, and in response to progesterone, evident in vascular smooth muscle cells and glands which surround TIE‐2‐expressing blood vessels. Our findings indicate that VEGFA is stimulated by oestradiol, most predominantly in follicular phase endometrium, and Ang‐1 and 2 are stimulated by progesterone and were increased during the luteal phase of the oestrus cycle, during the time of vascular maturation.  相似文献

The aim of the present study was to improve the penetration during in vitro fertilization (IVF) of a frozen lot of epididymal sperm with a notoriously low fertilization ability of a Ban boar which is a native Vietnamese breed by optimizing different parameters of the IVF system. In Experiment 1, we determined that Pig‐fertilization medium was superior medium to Tyrode's albumin lactate pyruvate‐polyvinyl alcohol medium for IVF and defined the optimum the sperm concentration (1 × 106 sperm/ml). In Experiment 2, we clarified that partial removal of cumulus cells from cumulus‐oocyte complexes by hyaluronidase treatment before IVF enhances sperm penetration, whereas complete cumulus removal reduces penetration. Finally, in Experiment 3 the elevation of concentration of caffeine in Pig‐fertilization medium from 2 to 5 mmol/L and the prolongation of the co‐culture of gametes from 3 to 5 hr significantly increased the total penetration rate from 15.2% to over 50%. In conclusion, the combination of partial oocyte denudation, an elevated caffeine concentration in Pig‐fertilization medium and an extended interval of IVF with using an optimized sperm concentration was a potent way to improve the fertilization results for a frozen epididymal Ban sperm lot with low fertility.  相似文献
